" Our week stay was an absolute... "

Our week stay was an absolute pleasure. Charlie & Zsambika were wonderful people as were their family.

Our studio was one of the smaller ones but adequate for two. It was well equipped and clean. Rooms were done every day with change of towels.

I had to go to local hospital and Charlie's daughter took me there and arranged for my prescription to be brought to the apartments later that day. She even translated the instructions on them for me. There was nothing that was too much bother for them.

We have already booked again for October 2007. Unfortunately we could not get the Stegna Mare but are going to the Stegna Star next door which is run by Zsambika's sister, so I am sure it will be just as nice. Cannot wait to go back and meet everyone again.

There is a lot of nice restaurant's to choose from and all the people are so friendly it really is the best location if you want a relaxing holiday away from all stress.

" Truly superb! Our first visit to... "

Truly superb! Our first visit to Rhodes, but not our last - we have just booked for Sept 2007.

Stegna Mare is a gem. Charlie and Tsampika are wonderful and made our stay perfect from beginning to end.

If you want an upbeat, lively holiday DON'T go here - leave it for us to enjoy this quiet, relaxed resort with its beautiful sand, brilliant snorkelling, lovely tavernas and friendly, friendly people.

We had incredible weather for October with only one overcast day which gave us the opportunity to walk up the mountain at the south end of Stegna to Archangelos - the views from the top are incredible and well worth the 45minute uphill stroll with views of Stegna and beyond to the north and Lindos to the south.

That evening a storm arrived, but even that added to our holiday - the storm came just as we'd sat down to our meal at Stegna Star - horizontal rain, thunder & lightening - was it a problem? No, the waiter whisked away our plates into the kitchen where they cleared us a space and we sat in the warm & dry having a laugh with Katerina and her staff while we ate our starters.

Main course - not a problem, we hurried back to our apartment next door and our meal was brought to us, but not before our lights were fused by an exploding light bulb (a hazard of the high humidity during the storm).

Again no problem, we enjoyed our meal by candlelight and after a word to Kathryn (our amazing Kosmar Rep), Charlie & Tsampika battled their way through the storm from Archangelos at 10pm, to restore our power and insisted on thoroughly cleaning the floor to ensure there were no bits of light bulb remaining. Our memorable evening drew to conclusion sipping Metaxa by moonlight!

When the coach came to pick us up at the end of our week, Charlie & Tsampika, Katerina and her staff all came to say goodbye with hugs and kisses.

Any regrets? Just one - we only had 1 week - so this year we've booked 2!

" Had 2 weeks here June 06 and found... "

Had 2 weeks here June 06 and found the apartments are the best I’ve stayed at yet. Cleaned daily fresh towels and very friendly, nothing is too much trouble.

Stegna star next door has excellent food, had the English breakfast one morning and it was very good. We ate at several tavernas and had good food at all.

The only downfall for me was the lack of bars there is is only one (mercedes), don’t get me wrong it’s well run and very friendly but I do like to vary things. The beach is great being literally across the road, see Charlie in the morning and he will reserve your loungers.

Walked up the cliff at the end of beach to find fabulous views, took a few pics and will be happy to mail to anyone. Hired a car and found the roads very good and well signed.

Monolithos was quite breathtaking and Prasanisi where the med and Agean meet is well worth a visit even just to watch the windsurfers and parasurfers.

All in all a brilliant hol.

" Got transferred to these apartments... "

Got transferred to these apartments from Constantinos in the middle of the night, what a delightful accommodation. Rooms spotlessly clean and clean towels every day and Charlie and his wife were very friendly.

The position just across the road from a beautiful beach makes Stegna mare perfect. Would recommend these apartments to anyone visiting this lovely resort. We were unlucky with the weather but that’s pot luck.

Just like to add the rep Kathryn was wonderful when we had a problem at the start of our holiday.

" The Stegna Mare Apartments are... "

The Stegna Mare Apartments are faultless, they are extremely clean, thanks to the ever hard working Tsambika and her husband Charlie and full of everything you need for a self catering holiday, hairdryer, kettle, bottle opener, TV and plenty of clean crockery etc.

The Stegna Star restaurant is lovely; the staff are friendly and the portions very generous. I was with a party of 12 and nothing was too much trouble for them.

The sea is very clean and clear, with lots of fish around so take a snorkel and mask.

The supermarkets are well stocked with all your essentials and lilos are inflated for you!!!

I recommend a walk up the cliff at the end of the beach (past the all inclusive hotel), and if you can manage it for sunrise it's well worth it!! The views are breathtaking and it's so peaceful, apart from the goats!

The only small downside was that there are day trippers by boat each day and they like to leave their rubbish behind!

Give Stegna a try, it was my first time to any Greek island and I’ll certainly be going back!

" I can only say that this is the best... "

I can only say that this is the best ever self catering holiday I have ever had! The Stegna Mare is perfect and I could find nothing that wasn't spot on, the place is kept spotless and is cleaned daily, there is aircon (paid for if required) TV, hairdryer and a bath and shower! A first as well was supplied loo roll, all other self catering hols I have been on you have had to supply your own!

It is run by Charly and his wife, and they have to be the 2 nicest people I have ever met, they just can't do enough for you, and are really genuine people. For Karen's birthday (my partner) they gave her a bottle of wine, and left flowers in the room in the morning.

Anyone who finds fault with this place just has to get a life!

The Stegna Star restaurant is next door and food is great, plus lots of Retsina! Waiters very friendly, and often bring free drinks!

We will definitely be coming back to Stegna Mare next year and are counting the days.

" The Stega Mare (pronounced Maray) are... "

The Stega Mare (pronounced Maray) are the best Greek studios we have ever stayed in! They are well furnished, cleaned every single day and maintained to a very high standard. We stayed in 116 (upstairs, the first studio back) and had lovely side sea views.

The studio had a TV, kettle, 2 hobs, various pans, crockery and cutlery (all of a high standard). Charlie (looks after the beach/sun beds etc) and Tsampika (who cleans) together care take the Stega Mare - they are very helpful and lovely, genuine people. Stegna Mare sun beds are 6€ (2 beds and an umbrella) - similar deals are also available across Stegna Beach.

There are several Taverna's serving similar types of food all within walking distance. Our faves were Stegna Star (just next door) and Knights Castle (a bit further to walk, but worth it - Tony is a real gent). We had a couple of "iffy" meals mainly due to the menu not being specific about cooking style etc, but overall certainly nothing to complain about.

Despite previous comments posted about Stegna there are 2 bars in stegna! Mercedes (easy to find - beachfront location) Chris, Nikos and Jimmy will give you a fab welcome but nights can get a bit samey! And Refrain (sadly we only found Refrain at the end of our holiday). Refrain is located at the far end of Stegna beach (passed the all inclusive hotel) - take the small sandy road uphill (by Grecoris II which is closed), Refrain is a white and blue building (looks like someone’s house - no sign) opens around 8pm. The views are fantastic, drinks and meze superb and Stelios is a wonderful host - certainly worth exploring.

We weren't keen on the hanging octopus outside some of the restaurants but that’s Greece! We also hired a car (first time abroad) and saw some more of the island (Lindos, Rhodes Town, Faliraki - its not how you think, give it a go!) - it was however always nice to get back to Stegna (no PR people trying to get you to visit there bar/restaurant etc).

We walked back up the mountain to Archangelos (prior to hiring our car) - quite an adventure but hard work - it was good to see the village, but it wasn't as we expected - we kept seeing locals from Stegna too - of course they always had a friendly word.
Enjoy Stegna - take lots of books and unwind.

" Spent 1/2 term week at Stegna... "

Spent 1/2 term week at Stegna Studios. Lovely apartments, quite new, well looked after. Very impressed with the bathroom with a full size bath and over bath shower. We were lucky enough to have the ground floor front apartment, which had its own little garden.

Most of the restaurants were either closed, or looked closed. However, Knights Castle and Stegna Star Restaurant were both open and pleased to serve us. Food was typical, but very nice and well presented.

Stegna Star appears to think a double Malibu is a tumbler full - no complaints there! The weather hot some days, cold & windy others. Definitely needed a jacket in the evenings.

Lindos was worth 2 visits, most of the beaches were nearly deserted.
We got an exceptionally good deal on car hire from Gianis car rental which is situated at the far end of the road next to a hotel. We got a Peugeot 206 convertible, 6 days for the price of 3. It was cheaper than the cheapest car from the Kosmar rep!! Worth investigating. Seats on the return flight were very cramped.

" Have just returned from Stegna Mare... "

Have just returned from Stegna Mare Studios (8/10) after two weeks wonderful relaxation. The studios were probably the best appointed that we have been in during 15 years holidaying to Greece. There is even a kettle, a hair dryer and satellite T.V. in the rooms which we have not seen before (especially the kettle!!). Kosmar would do well to put these facts in their brochure as it would avoid duplication as we normally take our own. This does not include the T.V.!!
The resort itself is very friendly and the food in almost all the restaurants was excellent. We would recommend particularly the Stegna Star run by Katerina with help from Manos and Mikey. We also enjoyed Aroma, Stephanos, En Plo and the Knights castle. For a drink on the way home the Mercedes bar with Nicos and Chris was very friendly with good music as well. All in all a great holiday.
" Having just returned last week from... "

Having just returned last week from the Stegna mare cannot fault them in any way. Having never been to Rhodes before and was looking for a quiet resort, found it here.
Only went out of the resort 3 times to Rhodes town and Symi.....and was very happy to return to Stegna. If you want to become part of the Greek way of life then this is the ideal place.
Both Charlie and Tsambika both work 24 hours a day.....nothing is too much trouble for them.
The apartment was cleaned every day without fail no matter what time you went out and came back, Charlie....... The local font of knowledge.
Visit the taverna en plo to the right of the apartments....where papa George and Kiki will both welcome you to stay and eat and drink for as long as you want(even until 3.00am) introduce you to all their family ....who eat there most nights (and it is a large extended family)
As with every one else who stayed there we all agreed that we would be back.
" We have just returned from the Stegna... "

We have just returned from the Stegna Mare Studios having had a great two weeks there.

The apartments were spotlessly clean and were cleaned every day by Tzambique the wonderful lady who runs the apartments with her husband Charlie, who is a very knowledgeable and friendly man who will do anything for you. The only thing we would have liked was for the air conditioning to be included in the price, it was 8 euros a day for each apartment.

We found all the locals to be very friendly and helpful. The restaurants and bars were all very good and we had some wonderful meals. We would particularly recommend the Knights Castle and Stegna Star Restaurant.

The beach just across the road was lovely and clean, and the umbrellas and sunbeds provided by the Stegna Mare Studios were looked after by Charlie, who always had a story to tell you, he kept this part of the beach spotlessly clean too.

The children were kept busy snorkelling, and soon made friends with some of the local Greek children and other holidaymakers at the Stegna Mare. Some watersports are available but could be expensive.

All in all we had a wonderful relaxing time and would love to go back again.
" Just returned from holiday with a... "

Just returned from holiday with a family group of nine. The Stegna Mare Apartments are well kept excellent in condition and have wonderful staff.

The beach was beautiful and the restaurants and bars served lovely meals. I am disabled and use a wheel-chair but found no problems, in fact one day my husband sister-in-law and I in my wheel-chair tackled the mountain road to Archaelongelis successfully.

There were only two buses in a morning up this mountain which was a pity but we were told that later in the season buses ran hourly. We visited Lindos and Rhodes town which were busy but beautiful.

If you want a laid back holiday we highly recommend it ,but if you have teenage children they would soon get bored. Tzambique our cleaner is a fantastic personality and nothing was too much trouble for her.
