Submitted By: Mr M Shentonsecondly the staff were great
i was at the bar on the last night end of august and a "group of girls" were asked to settle there bill unfortunatly no one seemed to remember having drinks that night untill the gentleman that served them pointed them out suddenly they then realised they were in the wrong
the greek hospitaliy is really good with a lot of trust why try pulling the wool over there eyes and rip them off i was appalled by that
its best not to comment really if you are in the wrong !!!!!!!

" Myself and 6 other girls stayed at... "
Submitted By: Miss M LeeWe found the owners to be quite rude and not very helpful; this wasn’t just to us but to other people staying there. The first day we were there a couple of us asked for a salad but was told they do not have any. About 15 minutes later we saw them give someone else a salad so another one of the girls asked if they could have one but once again we was told “no salad”. If you want a nice lunch go to the Blue Paradise at Lambi beach, we ate here nearly everyday it was lovely!
Another disappointment was the swimming pool, it was fine for a couple of days until it went cloudy and all the children staying there went down with ear infections. We didn’t want to go in the pool after that.
If you want to go to another pool for the day I would recommend the 5* resort of Blue Lagoon just down the road, for 45 Euros you have everything all inclusive, breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and drinks! It is beautiful here and the staff are very kind and friendly and do different activities during the day such as water aerobics, darts, football, quizzes etc.
The beach at Lambi is nice especially the big beds that are very comfortable. They have lots of water sports here too such as donuts, crazy ufo (very fun), banana boat etc. It is a bit stony but all in all it is very pleasant.
Do try to go on a boat trip but do not be mislead by the PR people outside the boats trying to sell you a “good deal”. We went on the Marianna and were told we could have our tickets for 15 Euros each but we did say it may not be 7 people as a couple of them were unsure, however the pr wrote 7 people on the ticket anyway. On the day of the trip once we had set off the owner of the boat told us we now had to pay 20 Euros each as there were not 7 of us. We could appreciate this but they could have told us before we set sail. We were also told everything on the boat was free, this wasn’t the truth.
As for the evenings, restaurants and bars/clubs please DO NOT go to the Old River near the beach, everyone one my friends was sick and a couple of people could not even eat their meals especially me! DO go to the Italian Otto & Mezzo, it is beautiful and very romantic located in old Kos town, we went here twice it was so good. Also if you like Mexican go to El Paso it is very nice here, bit of a walk from the harbour. If you want to go out dancing go to bar street, there are numerous bars down here but watch out for the pr people trying to get you into their bars, as soon as they see you they pounce! Price for a beer was 3 Euros and spirits 6 Euros. Try out fashion club, it is a bit expensive but the music is good.
I hope I have remembered everything!

" Just had 1 week at these apartments.... "
Submitted By: Mr G EnglishThe Pool was good and the surrounding area ok. The pool bar served drinks and bar type food with chips all the way and a mean breakfast to die for some mornings. We had relatives staying at the hotel Athina next door and they were all inclusive. They came over to eat at our place as often as they could.
The family had a restaraunt at the end of the tree lined road and they served a good variety of food with as good a Greek menu as English food so the eating experience was good.
The position of the apartments was well awy from Kos town which we do not normally do as I have to have treatment at the hospital 3 times a week so we stay as close to the centre as possible usually.
I found this a lovely bike ride in to the town and very pleasant to return to out in the country.
The owner and his wife are very nice people without being ostentatious and helpfull when they can. The maid is very gregarious and if there is a fault she only cleans every 2-3 days but if you ask she helps you. We have been spoilt with hotels over the last few years where the daily cleaning service is the norm. This is more like traditional Greece and Greek service.
I would return here at any time and recommend the place to family and friends with the reminder its not the Hilton hotel.

Submitted By: Miss J KaminskiHowever, after first night sleep we found Ideal Hotel was comfortable, friendly, perfect for our needs. Food was fantastic, staff were wonderful. The family owned hotel, was the best where we have eaten ever.
We found the whole experience overwhelming because it was the best time, and we enjoyed every second of it.
My children aged 18, 16 and 15 all had so much fun and made good friends with the staff. it has now been nearly a year and we still miss the staff, for example. Spiros and Berger-- Legends =]
Thanks for a fantastic time. It is truly missed.
We love you Spiros and Berger =]

" Basic but fantastic apartments for... "
Submitted By: Mr B DohertyVery clean rooms and pool with plenty of sunbeds - I read another review saying bar area was dirty this is absolute nonsense as it gets hosed down and cleaned regularly in the mornings.
Bar food is good especially the E breakfast and the greek salads.
I wanted to book the Alice Springs as regularly got 10/10 reports but I visited it whilst there and It looks no better that The Ideal. Dont get me wrong the Springs which is family run also which we met are very nice and friendly, but you will also get this at Ideal at half the price of the Springs through Tui.
Only downside is no aircon in the older block but you can hire a fan for small fee.
The family own a restaurant at the crossroads that they advertise but found this to be the worst in the area even with your residents discount.
We never stayed in bar at night but they do have the usual greek nights and quiz nights etc and play various music late at night inside. There are no kids clubs or anything but all of the ones we saw at the apts made friends and their own entertainment.

" Ideal Apartments is filled with... "
Submitted By: Mr Robbie WilsonPlenty of places to eat, I recommend The Sunset - it’s wonderful. They care about their customers and ensure your meal will be delightful. As well as the staff being helpful.
Lots of things to do for kids, just up the road. Left at the junction from the tree-sided road, there's an electric car track. Great fun!
The bus service is handy. One every couple if minutes, much better than the taxi's, which can cost up to 3 times as much so be wary.
All in all a wonderful, homely place, hence why me and my family have been 5 times and we are positive to return in the summer of 2008.

" Run down apartments in a dreary area.... "
Submitted By: Mr M KiltyKitchen area in apartments dirty and pillows on bed stained.
Pool side bar ok and gardens very well maintained but whole complex is soul-less. 20 minute walk to nearest mini shop 30 minute walk to decent size supermarket. Local beaches the worst ever with litter in abundance.
My advice pay a bit more. The only plus point was the daily inter-action with the cleaner whose personality far exceeds the hotels.

Submitted By: Mrs S BaseThe location of the hotel itself was really good, centre of all main attractions i.e. beach, shops, bars, restaurants, etc. Which is very useful if you like to get out of the hotel during the night as we did. Great for the kids, plenty things to keep them entertained. Also there is things to keep anyone of any age entertained. SO great location for the hotel.
The hotel itself was great, looked so nice. The rooms were always kept clean, and staff all helpful and kind and friendly, so thanks to them for making the hotel experience as enjoyable as I enjoyed it ^_^.

" I have just got back from the Ideal... "
Submitted By: pink fairyThese hotels are situated on a main road but it’s really quite opposite farm land. The main resort and beach of Lambi is about 15mins down this road and Kos town is a further 10 mins.
The walk however, is a pleasant one. We hired bikes and it made the journey a lot quicker.
There is a bus stop rite outside the hotel which is really easy to use and takes about 5/10mins to take u into Kos town and it only costs 90cent a lot cheaper than taxis they run every half hour and the last one is about 1am.
This resort is mainly families and couples me and my partner are 20 and 25 and it was ideal for us as you can have the hustle and bustle of the major town or just a quite night at a restaurant. If you do go to Kos town try and find a restaurant called Select it’s on bar street it is the nicest restaurant in one of the best settings and the staff are so friendly.
The apartments are basic and don’t have air conditioning but they are family run and they are so helpful and friendly. The picture on Olympic is rubbish and they do look a lot nicer.
They have entertainment on every other night and its good fun. The aussie bbq at a hotel called Alice Springs (which is further down the main road near the beach) is a really good night probably one of the best nights we had.
We can’t wait to go back next year. Hope you enjoy your holiday.

" We chose the Ideal because it had... "
Submitted By: Mr P RobinsonOur studio was of a good size with a balcony. By going in June, everything is freshly painted and the spring flowers are out. A large and small cooking ring are provided and there is basic crockery, utensils, a fridge and cooker.
We asked to move room after arrival and also had our fridge replaced, so the staff do look after you. The cleaner is friendly, although towels could be changed more than twice a week.
The pool is of a good size and there is a snack bar, which we used on our first night.
There is entertainment several nights a week but sometimes it is not well-attended.
There were some inconsiderate late drinkers on a couple of nights outside the apartments, which we feel the staff should have dealt with.
The apartments are about 10 minutes’ walk to Lambi down a shady tree-lined road. Lambi is a bit run down, but is a good location for exploring the island. There are several good tavernas such as Angelina’s, Sunset, Pegasus and Istros.
The number 2 bus goes from outside the apartments into the centre of Kos Town and there are lots of good tavernas there, especially in the Old Town.
We hired bikes for a day and cycled to Tingaki, which is a much nicer resort. We hired a car for three days, which is well worth it (much cheaper from a local car hire company). It’s worth visiting Zia and Pyli in the mountains and Kefalos (we wouldn’t bother with Kardamena).
We drove to the harbour in Mastachari and caught the 9.00 ferry to Pothia in Kalymnos (about 45 minutes), which is beautiful. The only other boats trips available are from Kos Town to three islands, which were full days with lunch and swimming stops.
We booked a day trip to Bodrum with a local agent rather than at Kos Town harbour and this included a coach pickup and return as well as a free tour around Bodrum – much better value.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the holiday.

" Went for 1 week of sun and to relax.... "
Submitted By: Mr Tom ElliottSet a little way outside of Kos old town and harbour. Lots of people hired bicycles to visit various beaches and old town etc. quite cheap too.10/12 euro pw.
Nice pool with bar / cafe and snacks, reasonably priced.
Don’t go if you are looking for a rave up. It’s a quiet place great to relax and explore island from.
Family run and nice friendly people, they also have a decent quality restaurant a little down the main path. This was not the cheapest place to eat (not overpriced either) But found it to serve really nice food well presented, poss the best I had in the 1 week I stayed there.
The only place I found that did not serve chips with everything. Spot on.
English lad worked in bar and cafe, Went by the name of Burger, Friendly lad and helpful.
I was lucky to meet some fantastic people there, (Tina, Lorraine, Rachel, Stuart etc etc.) It is that sort of place.
