We thought that it would be impossible to beat last year's holiday at Kos but we were proven wrong! The weather was in the late 30ies - early 40ies everyday which made it almost unbearable to walk even to the beach (which was only a 5 minute walk away, but in the heat took... more

Brilliant place!!
I have just returned from a week at the Roseland Hotel with my family. We all enjoyed the trip very much and found all the staff very friendly and welcoming and everyone thought that the hotel was great. The most prominent thing about the hotel is its cleanliness. You couldn't get a cleaner place if you tried, although it is a little basic, so if you are looking for luxurys this probably isn't the place for you. The rooms were a fair size, with enough wardrobe space, an option for a fridge, which is well worth it, a balcony and a small, but clean bathroom. We went for the bed and breakfast option which was simple but satisfying, although you could have a full english breakfast for a reasonable price at the hotel snackbar if you wanted some variety which may be needed if your stay is longer than a week. The pool is great and a good place for doing some all important sun bathing!! If the pool isn't your thing, the beach is only about a 10 minute walk away. I have to say that i was a little dissapointed with the beach near the Roseland, although it was lovely a bit further up nearer the Kalmaki old town (don't be drawn in by the old town name, its very similar to the kalamaki strip). If you are looking for a quainter place to explore, then take a taxi to Zakynthos town which would cost about 10 euros. The hotel are very efficient about this, we asked them to ring for a taxi and we were only waiting for 2 minutes! If you get bored sunbathing there's a pool and a table tennis table which is quite popular. And when you want to grab some lunch the snack bar at the hotel has quite a variety and i couldn't complain one bit about the food! When eating out along the Kalamaki strip, i would definately reccomend the Olive Tree. We ate there for quite a few nights, the food is delicious and there is such a variety, the waiters are very friendly and efficient and the prices are reasonable. If you are worried that the hotel seems to be quite near the airport - don't! The planes can be seen and heard however the noise was never that loud and wasn't a problem at all. However we did go at the start of season so if you're planning to go in the summer it may be best to check how busy the airport would be. If you are looking for a cheerful holiday that doesnt break the bank then the Roseland definately needs to be taken into consideration.
one week
We have just come back from a week at the Roseland and for a week in the sun. The accommodation is basic but very clean and tidy. We booked bed and breakfast, the breakfast is a simple affair but satisfying you may want to check out other options if staying for longer than a week as the choice is very limited. Although we had a small fridge in our room there were no other facilities ie no kettle so no tea and coffee unless you purchase from the hotel (which was nescafe a bit 1980's!). The pool area is nice and clean and lovely for catching rays. The beach is not far away (10mins approx). If you go get a taxi to the Cave Bar you will not regret this it is fabulous and totally different from anything you will find on the strip of restaurants. The views at sunset are breath taking cocktails are the best ever check out Honey girl hmmmmm. We enjoyed our week away and it was relaxing the food everywhere we ate was lovely . Olive Tree or even better a Taverner which is a small walk from the cave just past rainbows that was the best meal we had and we wished we had found it sooner although I cant remember the name! The aeroplane noise is loud when they come over as we were at the start of the season this wasn't a problem(not enough of them coming in)but peak season it may start to gripe a bit. Over all for a cheap and cheerful Roseland was great.
Looks can be deciving.
The initial reactions from my partner who has never been to Greece before were that he was shocked by the surrounding areas of the hotel. However, The Roseland Hotel is a beautiful little Oasis hidden away up a side street. The hotel is family run and extrememly inviting to its guests. The staff who are both Greek and English make your stay one to remember. The Pool is immaculate and so are the rooms with the Maids cleaning your rooms everyday with clean sheets and towels every other day. However, I'm sure if you asked they would change your sheets everyday. The Bar at night doesn't shut til arounf two am so when you have had enough of Kalimaki strip you can retire to the hotel bar for a few nightcaps. This hotel is not one to be m issed with several repeat guests who come year in and year out, we can see why people just keep on coming back
Roseland - Brilliant
Just returned from a week at the Roseland. One of the best hotels my family and I have stayed in. The reception staff were ever so friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Meals were great value for money and Greek night was fun. Pool area was clean and snack bar served great snacks. Going to Greece at the end of the season was nice and quiet, most things still open. Highly recommend the Artemis Restaurant 5 mins from the hotel on the Kalamaki Strip. Would definately return to this hotel.
Wonderful Hotel!! So impressed!!
Lovely Hotel. We went for one week without our son for a break (28/7/06 - 4/8/06). Rooms - very clean. Felt very safe. Food and drinks excellent. Hotel overall very clean. Lovely setting, very pretty - near all shops, supermarkets, restuarants, and bars. Staff very very helpful. Pool area and snack bar lovely. Would really recommend to couples and families if staying in Kalamaki.
Fantastic holidat
Me and my boyfriend have just returned from two weeks in Roseland hotel Zante and thought it was the best holiday we have been on. The hotel staff are so friendly and the receptionist could never do enough to help. The food served at the hotel restaurant was fab and cheap. Couldnt believe how lucky we were to get such a great hotel. Its situated near the airport so during the day you see planes flying in to land however, after 10pm (i think) the planes cant take off or land due to the nesting of the Logger head turtles. There are so many trips available from the hotel and we did the boat trip to Smugglers Cove which was a fantastic photo oportunity, boat trip to see the turtles which was fab because we were aloud to dive in a swim next to the turtle and we went on the 4x4 safari. That was great fun with Martin, Andreas and Demetry (the drivers) who were comedians :) Really had a great holiday and would definately recommend it and visit Roseland again.
Excellent Holiday
Me and my partner have just returned from a 10 night holiday at the Roseland, Looking at the brochure before we left and the pictures on the internet of the Roseland i was very optimistic as i thought it didnt do the hotel much justice, well how wrong was i it was lovely very clean rooms cleaned every day great pool, OK snack bar always had different specials each day, Good size reception with TV and bar, The bar was very cheap they have happy hour 7 - 9 ( i think ) So its nice to have a drink at the bar before we went out. Me were made very welcome by all the staff whenever we wanted extra towels, taxis, Money changed they were always there to help. Good location about 10 minute walk to the Kalamaki strip and 10 minute walk to the beach, one bit of advise the first time we went to the beach we went out the front entrance of the hotel and walked along the road this leads you to Kalamaki beach but the not so nice end as the Sand is very dirty and lots of litter, Then we discoverd the beach going through the back end of the hotel ( through the garden area ) This leads you to the same beach but at a nicer end..... Night life... Me and my partner are both in our early 20's and Kalamaki was great for us they had a strip full of lovely resturants, and bars, you have to try the CAVE bar if you like coctails it looks over ZANTE island and its lovely, If you want it lively the DOWN UNDER bar is the best bar in town, GREAT for all ages... Anyway you must vist ROSELAND you wont be disapointed
Fantastic in every way
My husband and I and our two year old daughter have just returned from a lovely weeks holiday in Zante staying in the Roseland Hotel Kalamaki. This hotel surpassed all expectations we had - it is fantastic in every way. Really friendly staff, spotlessly clean, well priced restaurant and snack bar, lovely gardens, well maintained - we would definitely recommend it to anyone. Having always thought Greece was slightly more basic than Spain and the Spanish Islands, the Roseland completely contradicts this opinion. It is a thoroughly modern up to date hotel. If you're going you're in for a treat!!
Roseland - Great
All areas of Hotel clean and comfortable. Food excellent. Staff and Management very friendly and helpful. Although near airport, plane noise did not cause a problem and no night flights. Will definitely return.
Great hotel
We had a great stay at the Roseland, with Thomson Holidays. A really nice family hotel, very friendly & helpful staff, nice rooms, good food, good pool.
