Studio apartment 9-16th June. Wouldn't go again. Cleaners come every four days, girls, you can imagine the toilet bin....it isn't as if you can take your own rubbish out as they don't let you. Spiros the barman was very arrogant and the prices in his shop were incredible....Soap £1 a bar, loo roll ( they only give you one sandpaper roll, you have to buy the rest) are £1 for 2 small rolls, if you can pack your own pack them! Water was £1 litre. Beer £2 pint. Pool clean and OK and no loud music blaring, but it's very close to a busy road and there's a lot of traffic noise. Talking of noise, sparrows nesting in the roof of all 3 buildings were incessant, young ones screaming for food, it drove me mad. Perhaps don't go in the nesting season!
There are no hairdryers or kettles, no shower screen and the shower is hand held, Air con is £7 a day. Can't find the Euro sign on my old keyboard so when I say £ and mean Euro. Horse & carriage into town is 10 Euro there and back. Taxi's out of this world - one euro a minute almost...!
- Advice: Eat in Malvena, Neraida, Shoestring, do trips with www.specialoffer.gr they're cheaper and Sue the tour guide is great.

We checked in to a very basic Room (302 - Ground Floor)with a balcony. The balcony is approx 1 metre from a very busy, noisy road. The main reason we chose self-catering was so that we could eat breakfast and lunch on our balcony. When we complained to the owner's son (who works in the bar) we were told that he would not move us to another Room just for the noise.
Our Holiday Rep requested that we be moved and he flatly refused.
During the 1st evening the kitchen was overun by ants.
We decided to move to alternative accommodation up the road, the barman just smiled and accepted this - I thought that one of the basic rules of hospitality was to look after your customers and try to sort out any problems they have - obviously this is not the case in Elpida.

I would recommend it to families , couples or single travellers of any age. The only thing i recommend that you go for a meal to the lemon tree on a thursday evening. Dont be fooled by the mill its english run who are trying to be greek. But overall the hotel is great.

Elpida was a great place to stay, apartments clean and tidy and well serviced, although aircon essential and extra @ 7 euros per day.
Never a problem finding a sun bed by the pool and no loud music being played all night as at some other beach apartment complexes.
Spiros is a great host and you can do great deals booking direct.. Finding a flight is the costly bit..

We have only just returned from two weeks in this stunning villa.
To be perfectly honest, the brochure photos does not do this beautiful villa justice. It is an old style villa, tastefully decorated in Corfiot style and lovingly cared for by the sweet lady owner who comes in three times a week to clean. She lives in a basement part of the villa, but we only ever saw her on the allocated cleaning days.
Parking in its own off the road parking space, the villa is reached by going through closed metal gates and down a couple of set of steep steps - then up another set to the front door. There is a railed pathway around the side of the house, which takes you round the the balcony and poolside which have absolutely unbelievable views over the sea and coastline. The villa is perched on the edge of the hillside surrounded by olive groves - so standing at the edge of the pool balcony, you can look down on all the activities going on below, i.e. cruise boats, days trips, etc. The pool is lovely and one of those infinity type ones (I think)
The main balcony has a large wooden table with chairs which is ideal for any alfresco meals or drinks, but there is also a small table and 2 chairs and wicker table and chairs at the pool edge, perched over the view.
Inside the front door opens up into a large open-plan kitchen/sitting room area, which is comfortable and well furnished. Kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. Bathroom is a tad on the small side, but fine really, though you do have to hold the shower above you as there is nowhere to hook it up to stand under. You do get used to it though. There is also a washing machine in there with a drying screen and pegs on the balcony. The main bedroom (opposite way around from the photo) is spacious with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The shuttered double patio doors open out onto the balcony. The other twin-bed room also opens on to the balcony.
There is no air-conditioning at the moment - but I think that it is on the cards for next year. There are plenty large fans to keep you cool enough though.
Elpida Villa is situated off the main road on the way out of Nissaki towards Kassiopi, but within walking distance of a couple of supermarkets, a fantastic taverna and a cocktail bar.
Well worth a visit!!!

Enjoyed our stay at Elpida Studios. Initially we booked to stay at Danny’s & Ioannis studios further along in Alykanas but after three days Danny’s proved to be a bit of a disaster to say the least, so we agreed to be transferred to Elpida Studios for the remaining 10 days of our stay in Zante.
We found the rooms to be spotlessly clean, with clean towels and bedding replaced every day and even a hot shower! The cleaners here do a marvelous job and are very polite and co-operative. Despite being near the road, the pool area was nice and relaxed and kept to a high standard of cleanliness. A friendly family run business, with many thanks to Spiros for lending some DVDS to watch.
Overall very impressed with friendliness of the staff and the family - and certainly made up for the disappointment we had with our previous accommodation.

We Stayed at the Elpida Apartments in Alykanas for our family holiday, we had a fantastic time. The rooms were very clean and spacious, clean bedding and towels every 3 days. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and spoke very good english. The swimming pool was kept clean every day, plus there was good entertainment at night by the bar staff, they were really funny.
I recommend the Greedy Greek Taverna, we went there every night for our meal, the staff were friendly and polite, and good with children, especially Panos, George and Dennis. There was a great play area for the kids.
Across the road was Iguana bar, which had a great atmosphere, we got on well with the staff there too. A big hello to Takis, big Sakos, little Sakos, Spearos, George, Panos, Dennis, plus Harry Potter, ha ha!
Lots of love from Julie, Jake, Zoe, Daniel, Karen, and Connor xxxxxxx

This was are first holiday in Greece, age 34 and 37 with two children 6 and 3. We couldn’t have picked a better resort or accommodation. We were on the main road but it didn’t matter as there was no risk of the children leaving the pool side.
The accommodation was basic but clean and plenty of room, with a large balcony area on ground floor which was perfert. It is a small apartment block which we found was great because everyone got to know everyone. The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you.
Loads of restaurants along the high street which again were all perfect, they all had children play areas which meant mum and dad could eat a meal in peace whilst the children played.
The beach was only 10mins walk it wasn’t anything special but fine for young families. In amongst the restaurants are two or three extra bits for the kids to play on like bouncy castle and big bikes to ride. My children had a great time and again it meant mum and dad could have some time out watching the children be entertained.
We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this to any young family. It was so good we might go back this September which would be the first time we have revisited anywhere. Thank you to all the staff and people in the restaurants you all made our holiday one to remember.

We have recently returned from holiday in Alikanas where we stayed at the Elpida hotel and contrary to what I had read from a few reviews we had a lovely time . We found the rooms very clean and spacious, had towels and sheets changed twice during our seven night stay, found the owners very polite and helpful and always ready to assist in any way possible. the bar and pool area were very clean and being in the new part we had room no 328 we did not experience any disturbance or noise at night, al in all a very pleasant holiday. I would like to say thank you to Momma Poppa and Spiro’s the son.

We stayed at this resort for a week in that time the room was cleaned once the sheets were change on the same day. The room was 308 it was dirty and grimy the stove had 1 large ring and 1 small electric the cooking utensils were dirty and so was the chopping board in fact it looked like it was alive with germs. Needless to say we didn’t cook in the room at all.
The shower or laughingly called a shower was 3/4 tiled stuck in the corner and no nozzle on the head, the unit didn’t have a curtain and water went every where including onto the loo roll and the floor was an inch deep when you were finished. In the week i had cold water on 2 occasions. Whilst in the loo area the toilet seat fell off twice and had to be repaired by me eventually. The upstairs attic room was filthy and the curtains were held up by the dirt. Luckily we only need the 2 downstairs beds
The pool area was very clean and so was the bar with helpful service in the bar and friendly staff but we ate out in the restaurants where the food was magnificent. The trips organised by the reps are expensive so we did our own with dionisos tours for 15 euros ( a tip here the fast craft alexandos is 5 euro more expensive but we booked the slow one however we followed everyone else onto the fast craft where the tickets were not checked and we had a brilliant day) i can recommend this tour which was very informative, we explained to Elsie the booking clerk what we had done and all she said was you scored then. So you may want to try this.
However the coach ride home via Tsilivi to Elpida was a white knuckle ride through the mountains where at one point the driver couldn’t get the coach round a hair pin bend so drove forward as far as he could then reversed down the section of road then forward again, god knows what would have happened if something had come the other way. Good excuse for a very stiff drink afterwards.
We also went to Kefalonia and did the coach trip again brilliant but long day well worth the money this trip was arranged with Kosmar. All in all very good but let down by the room.

Airline Kosmar using at present, Scandic Airlines. Flight out delayed 3 hours, on return delayed 5hrs. Had to sit in Zakynthos airport car park for 5 hours. No food on plane either way, although paid for. Very poor service. Old plane.
Elpida studios very shabby, in need of renovating. Steep stairs to upper bedroom, banister loose and unsafe. Sheets old and threadbare. Only towels provided were small hard dingy hand towels. One teaspoon between three of us!
Noise from road terrible night and day, Young lads racing on motorbikes, and older lads speeding in cars, not safe to let children out alone. Alykanas very nice but would not return to Elpida or use Kosmar again.

Myself and my partner stayed at Elpeda at the beginning of Sept 2011. After reading mixed reviews about the Elpeda we were a bit worried about how it would be.
WELL it was great no complaints at all. Our room was on the top floor at the back with an inland view. It was mostly very quiet just occasional noise from bars but we do go to bed earlier than most and completely sober as we don't drink. Compared to other studios I have stayed in it was quite roomy and was cleaned regularly.
The pool area was clean and looked after and the pool was split in two with one shallow which would be excellent for children. They served food all day my partner had a cooked English most days which was really good value for money.
Alykanas resort was an excellent choice for a quite holiday. The beach was lovely and you could walk out for ages without being out of your depth and it was sandy under feet. One of our fav taverna's was Apollo run by a Greek whose wife was English. The food was always lovely and in my opinion served just a bit better than the others we went to.
Across the road from the Apollo is a company who do trips and we can recommend them as being very good. We went on 2 trips 1. the Shipwreck and 2. To see the turtles. both trips were excellent and very informative.
All in all an excellent holiday.
