We booked a weeks stay at the walhalla at the last minute for Gay Pride 2008 we wanted a mad holiday and we got it . Playa del ingles was what we were expecting. i had been on this website before we went and seen some of the reviews i didn't know what to expect. when we got there it was very late at night andf we just wanted to get into the apartment and get out partying.there was only one person on the reception but he dealt well with the droves of us that arrived. the lift is very small but nothing to worry about . When we seen the apartment we were suprised. big and spacious and airy. we were on the fourth floor of the five floors in total. we had two big rooms and open plan kitchen- sitting room . the balcony was bigger than most as we were on the end of terrace and we had beautiful sea views. the only down side was the cleaners didnt wash the dishes and were moody and had an attitude problem. but we just cleaned ourselves. we got towels from reception and the night porter although he couldnt speak english was helpful withthe towels when needed. this was the only down side to the apartments. the pool was a nice size but could be a little bigger. the atmosphere round the pool is great with music all day and food/alcohol servedat the pool bar where they have digital tv. the apartments arte situated beside the road side so not good for those who are light sleepers not that it mattered coz we bearlhy slept anyway. all our friends had booked before and they were down the irish centre way and all envied our stay at the walhalla because of the apartment its self and its location totthe jumbo which is family orientated through out the day and gay friendly by night altogether i would stay at the walhalla again without a doubt dont let others put you off. just be warned its full of young 20-30 somethings some families so not for those looking for a quiet holiday

i went to the walahala apartments in 2007 over all the apartments where clean and comfortouble and large great place to stay the only down fall was theres a main road running down the side of the bulding which makes it quiet noisey on a night i went with a group of freind we loved the pool area and staff on the whole where good playa del ingles its self is a diffrent story the men there think us women are a pice of meat we went out on a night and felt intimidated buy the amount of spanish men who feel the need to beep there horns and ogel you from the road side and the waiters in the restraunts on the see front think your there for them to sleep with sleezy men i hate them the night clubs and pubs where good but wouldnt recommend it for familys my freind was walking in the street when a man felt the need to stick his tounge down her throat but had a nasty surprise when she kicked him where it hurts ha ha good lass on the whole apartments where good and would recommend if it was in a diffrent resort so familys please think twice about playa del ingles its full of gays any way which is up to the individual but we dont need it shuveing in our faces now do we.

pool. the kids loved it but it was very small
loungers. there was never anough loungers we ended up sunbathing on the floor
advantages.
rooms they were very clean and spacious with a great balcony
night life was excelent evrything to do in the area but not at the hotel
pool bar great food but the chairs were plastic so when it got hot a couple people went over on them (dangerious)

We stayed at the Walhalla last year and enjoyed our stay. There were only two of us and we had a fairly spacious two bedroom apartment. This was our base as we toured the island during the day taking in the beautiful mountain scenery and lovely beaches. The apartments were suitable for young families and there were a lot of children. We enjoyed our early evening drink and card games sat on our patio overlooking the pool watching the children play.
We have very few grumbles mainly the kitchen as in most self catering apartments abroad the catering facilities were not brilliant but we were very pleased to have a large fridge freezer for cold drinks, snacks and ice. We did overhear one large family complaining about the price of cokes for the children being sold at the pool bar. We never bought any food or drink at the apartment bar so cant really judge for ourselves.
The apartments are in a good location within walking distance of beaches, restaurants and nighlife but we were never bothered by noise.
We are trying to book the Walhalla again this year as it suits us. We dont spend our whole holiday in our accommodation.

We are a family of 5 who stay here evry Easter and are really surprised to see all the negative comments. The first time we stayed in an appartment, but the last thrre lyears we have opted for the bungalows, even though the standard is somewhat lower. The bungalows give us the freedom to come and go without using the lifts and direct access to the lawn.
The funishings are basic, but OK - beds could be softer. As Norwegians we are not used to ussing electrics kettls, so we do not miss them - we just boil the water in a saucepan - whats difficult about that?
We love the roominess of the apprtaments/bungalows and the short distance to beach and the Yumbo centre. At the bungalows there is very little noise. The apprtements are worse affeted by noise from the road. We are really looking forward to our Easter stay in three weeks time.

After reading the comments that some people have left about the apparments I find it very had to believe that they can be anything from true, some of these people who have made terrible comments about the appartments must of been living on cookoo land, We stayed there in September 07 and there was 9 of us in three appartments and we had a excellent time, everything is basic but we paid for basic, if you want the ritz then you sould of paid more.
The rooms were very spacious and the staff were excellent, we landed there about 9pm on the first night of our holidays and we were greated by a lady who took our passpoprts and give us our keys for the room and nicely showed us were we were to go, the cleaners worked very hard and I would give them 10/10 our sheets and towels were changed every other day, we had brought our own towels with us as well.
The Pool was excellent and was cleaned every night as we sat on the balacony and watched the man cleaning it, the music was good and cheerful and there was no noise at night time, we were also in room 409 and it over looked the road, the views were excellent, the staff of the hotel were very friendly and cheerful and the pool bar staff were good fun, the pool bar food was nice.
Avd the anfi del mar rep like the plague, she says that you will spend a day at the beach, that is a lie for a start, you spend a full day going round a hotel and then they try and sell you time shares for it, and wont take no for an answer, never went to the beach but did go to the aqualand water park, that was excellent. Over all the appartments was nice and the staff and people were friendly so much so that we have the same place booked again for 2008.

stayed in the wallahalla at the start of aug last year. have to say i wasnt that happy. we were a young irish couple ready 4 a week of partying, along with a load other irish girls and lads, who we met up with in the same apartments. however this hotel is NOT for young people. it was full of young children and older people. On the first full night of our holiday we decided to play a bit of music, but the next day we recieved a written warning for this, we wouldn't of minded if the music was loud but all we had with us was a personal c.d player with 1 miniture speaker attached to it. we found out later on in the week that many of the peole we met up with in this apartment have had the same warning for doing very little. we were also virbalally abused a group of english girls who called us Irish B's. I could not understand why we were situated in these apartments as they were not anywhere near the irish centre or nor were they for young people.
The pool bar closed at 11.30 every nite which wasn't good for people with young children, there was also no entertainment at the hotel.
Found the staff to be very rude and unhelpful apart from the cleaner who kept the apartment spotless and the reps who were also very nice.
On the plus side the hotel is very close to the beech and the yumbo centre.

When we arrived at the apartments the reception was very small and only one person to sort everyone out, this took a while.
The apartment was clean but very basic even for a 2* you had to hire the kettle!! But the maids cleaned it every other day and for a week it was fine. we asked for a low level room as we were there with our son aged 2, we were 6/7 floors up so we were always watching the balcony and unable to leave the full length windows open at night, didn’t see the rep at all to try and sort this out.
The pool area was clean and music not bad, but although we came when older children should of been at school, I think they were all at our apartments. The pool area is not a good option at this hotel. However the good points, you are 5mins from the beach, lovely clean and great weather.
There are some good restaurants in the area if you stay clear of the chips with everything kind. Good pubs and shopping. Out of summer season i.e. June July Aug this is a great place, go in the winter months and you will have a quite break and at least space on the beach. The restaurants are less crowded and your meal will be cooked and not mass produced for the millions that are packed in the summer.
Overall we would go back, even to this hotel. Use it as a base and enjoy the town and beach. The locals were friendly and I think they are glad to see the summer season over as well. Remember you get what you pay for!!!

i gave walhalla 9 out of ten cos i rly did have a great time there were four of us ,ok i agree that the man at the desk was a grumpy old fart but we had a love hate relationship we just called him poblo ,the kasbah was good the first night we went but then we found the gem of our holiday the irish centre[the randy lepracan] just ask a taxi driver to take u their and your sorted plus taxi,s over their cost a quater of wat they do at home .
we enjoyed food at the red cow it was always nice and if u want to have the nicest steak ever go to the torro steak house it was heaven, our holiday rep was lovely if ur on holiday to party like we were ask about the booze cruise and the foam partys the are amazing they cost about fifty euro each bt wel worth it,we met people from ireland their who we are still friends with today ,the only thing i did not like about the holiday was the different people promoting their bars and clubs if you meet them during the day in a resturant and the ask u to pay money to go to the bar later on DONT there are alot of thieves, all in all i loved it and i wud really recommend it to young people who want to go wild its nt for the faint at hearted ,families wit young kids,or old peopleand if ur gay go to the youmbo if ur not or u dnt have a sence of humour dnt

5 of us stayed at the walhalla just a few weeks ago and we were very pleased on arrival after being put off by reading bad reports. I couldnt see anything wrong with the walhalla at all, its a great base for your holiday, 5 mins from the beach and 5-10 mins walk from the kasbah, the yumbo centre is just around the corner. the apartments themselves were basic but clean,we had a nice pool view, the pool itself was nice and the staff were very friendly, they even let us have the use of their iron for the week for free which usually has to be hired, john at the bar is a lovely guy who made us all feel very welcome. the lift was very small though it only fitted 3 people or 2 people with suitcases but it wasnt really a big problem, just use the stairs or wait for the lift to come back down again. I didnt enjoy the food at the pool bar and they don't do entertainment at all so I wouldnt stay here if I was planning on spending the majority of my hols at the apts.
I liked the resort itself, its a large resort with each centre about a 5-10 min walk from each other but taxis are so cheap around 2-3 euros. the beach is massive, The red cow, just up the road from the walhalla is were we ate most of the time, the food was really nice, and there sunday roasts are gorgeous, the chinese across from it tho wasnt great, friendly staff but pity about the food.
If you are going into the main centres at night, ie kasbah or irish centre, a word of warning, these places are the worst Ive ever seen on hols for reps trying to get you into there bars then ripping you off, they bring u in with promises of loads of free drinks then the bar staff will bring you a tray of drinks that you didnt order and charge you a fortune, just beware of these guys just walk past them go to the bars that you want to go into and order your own drinks at the bar, the usual price 4 a drink is 6euros but you will get 2, also check your change at any bar or supermarket they tried to short change us alot. places we did like were disco life in the irish centre and shannanigans behind the red cow was the only place that didnt fleece us on the price of drinks and they were friendly in there.
well i think thats it, i hope you enjoy your stay, and don't be put off by other reports on the walhalla it was a great place to stay and if i was to go back i would def stay here again.
