Oct 2007, Ms J  Gray

The hotel was quite nice, nothing outstanding. It was very quiet and we were lead to believe the beach was alot closer than it actually was.
I found the noise of the planes very disturbing and if they were to fly in at night the resort would be uninhabitable.
On the whole it was ok, but I wouldn't rush back.

Sep 2007, Miss K Cairns

I have posted a comment on this page before and said that I was going back to these apartments in July 07! Well I've been and come back! 8-(!
And I have to say the same as last time because once again it was fab! Perfect for a holiday you want to relax on! The apartments are in a great location with only being 10 minutes away from the town centre! The shopping facilities where great! Me and my mum really enjoyed watching my dad struggle carrying our bags!!
The nearby pubs and restaurants have British television on of an evening just things like big brother!! There was this one bar we went to called "The Sportsman" and it was great we were in for the hours of big brother every night! and it wasn't long till the owner memorised our drinks! He would serve us them before we sat down in our usual seats!!
The apartments were clean and tidy, did not see any cockroaches which is a HUGE bonus because I would have totally freaked out! We saw the odd mosquito hovering round the pool but thats normal!
The staff there were really friendly and helpful and told you all you needed to know!
There was only one thing wrong with our holiday... it was not long enough.
Ohhh and I guess you'll want to know about the weather as well! Well it was reaching 50°c HOT! Just make sure you start of with a factor 30 and work your way down! because errrr the sunburn recks and it stops you from enjoying dressing up!!

Stayed at these apartments in August...
8 / 10
Sep 2007, Mrs B Mcqueen

Stayed at these apartments in August and found them to be basic but clean, bedding changed once a week, towels every other day as was the maid service. Staff were friendly especially the woman on reception her English was superb.
Pool area was clean but some people reserved their sunbeds at 9.30 in the morning and didn't turn up until after lunch. The pool is heart stoppingly cold but once you got in great fun. The location was good, just a five minute walk under the under-pass and you cant miss the bars and restaurants.
Places to eat :- Tony Romas a must for ribs it's gorgeous and Tommy Nutters great all-rounder. The Great Wall of China superb for eating in and take-away and the staff are really friendly, Mexican Corner lovely food; Fado Rock is good for steaks and there are plenty of smaller cafe style restaurants including the Metropolis, Blue Bar and Marlins.
Entertainment on a night time was not buzzing but if you know where to go there's plenty to keep you amused. The Flower of Scotland family bar has happy hour from 9-10pm and then they have a quiz night and karaoke, all made to feel welcome. The Slap and Tickle is a good karaoke bar and happy hour was from 7-8pm; Legend 60's bar they have live entertainment from 10pm; Pieros Music cafe have different entertainment on each night; Havana bar happy hour 12-9pm and next door is the Bar Tropical happy hour 9-11pm.
For kids there is the trampolines and bunjee jumps. There is also photographers who will take your photos and you can choose which ones you want next day after 10am at the Krazy Corner shop, they are great value at 5 euros for a massive family photo. Up in Corolajo there is the Baku water park its great fun but not the biggest park we've been to. There is only four large slides and the rest were quite tame (don't hire rings as there are only 3 rides which need them). The sand dunes were nice to see and the beach (opposite the two big hotels beside the sand dunes, just before you get to Corolajo) is amazing for bathing on white sand and surfing on the waves in the beautiful blue sea and it was not too busy.
All in all a great holiday and we found Caletta de fuste was the better resort.

Aug 2007, Mr N Karslake

Caleta (or Castillo) de Fuste is a very quite resort, no discos or anything like that, very much for people with young families.
Lots of excellent places to eat offering everything from fish & chips, to steakhouses, traditional Canarian and an excellent Italian. Very good man made beach in Caleta, gently slopes with no current, great for small children, every Monday during the Summer a free beach party is held in the morning for the children, includes drinks and activities.
Plenty of activities locally and things to do for the whole family.
The Fuertesol Apartments are clean and tidy but very basic. Did not see one cockroach but there were a few mosquitoes at night.
There is a small but well stocked "mini" market on site. Not much going on at the apartments, a small poolside bar offering a limited range of drinks and food (burgers, chips etc), no evening entertainment or anything like that, but you are only a safe 10 minute walk from the resort centre where all the bars, gift shops etc can be found.
The swimming pool at the apartments was very good with a separate kiddies area. There is no lifeguard.
The apartments are only at the most a 15 minute walk from the excellent beach and their location suited me and my family perfectly, the only real complaint about the apartment was the lack of air conditioning, but fans were available to hire from reception.

Great place to chill out , very clean, maids came in 5 times a week and did a good job, pool is cleaned every night . The pool bar serves exelent food and is very cheap, all the staff are very freindly. If you eat out you must try TONY ROMAS RIBS and LINS CAFE both these serve very good food .Just a quick tip dont let the breeze fool you i used factor 15 and 25 and still blisterd.

Although the bungalow/apartment was...

Jul 2007,  D&M Miller

Although the bungalow/apartment was very basic we didn’t go on holiday to stay in our room - it did have everything we needed apart from Air Con, which in July we really could have done with.
The kettle and toaster worked fine and breakfast was the only real meal we had in the room. The cooker rings are slow to heat but we were on holiday and didn’t need to rush to be anywhere. There was also a small TV in the room which was handy for catching up on UK news in the evening - this was coin operated - 1EURO gave 1Hour viewing, which was plenty.
The bungalow was clean and the staff were friendly and considering we spent all day on the beach it met our needs.
The mini market on the complex had a good variety of basic food and drinks, including cheap wine and snacks for that all important nightcaps on return from the town.
The pool area although small was clean and had plenty of sunbeds (as long as they weren’t reserved by 'the selfish few' who placed their towels on the beds in the morning but didn’t come to the pool side until after lunch! BUT I guess you get that everywhere)
All in all we were fairly happy with our stay at the Fuertesol bungalows and it gave good value for money.
I would recommend the Fuertesol as a basic cheap holiday base - don’t go expecting luxury and you won’t be disappointed; after all with the heat in the Canary islands you will spend most of your days by the pool or on the beach.

We stayed here in June for two weeks...

Jul 2007, bikerboop

We stayed here in June for two weeks and had a lovely time. The bungalows are big enough for a family of four and are very clean.
The pool is huge and while some say it’s very cold it’s not that bad and to be honest you need something to cool you down in that heat.
The staff are lovely and Hannah on the main desk is great. The resort is a lovely place very relaxing everyone seemed so chilled out. Just behind the Fuertesol about 2 mins up the hill we found a pub called the entertainer this is a great pub to take your family all are welcomed by mark and rose who own the pub I can’t say enough good things about this place.
Never mind bringing home fridge magnets I wanted to bring the pub back with us lol.
If you go to the Fuertesol you will have a nice time. go to the euro spar to food shop its a lot cheaper than the Netto super markets ask any taxi to take you its only costs about 2-3 Euros. You do have aircraft over head but don’t worry you won’t notice after a day or two.
Don’t forget to go and see mark and rose in the entertainer, get up on stage and sing a song or get the kids up instead they’ll love it.
I have nothing bad to say about the apartments, the resort, or the island in fact we are going back (for good if I get my way).

Apartments where clean and tidy and...

Jul 2007, Miss K Cairns

Apartments where clean and tidy and very basic they included a kitchenette and a lounge area with a pay TV.
The bathroom was very clean and tidy complete with a mirror! And there was clean towels put in every day. The bedroom, also clean and tidy as the beds are made every day by the maid and changed every other day, bedrooms included a really big wardrobe a set of Chester draws and a bedside table.
On the complex was a small shop selling everything we needed including food, drink, sun cream, water toys, and souvenirs. There is also a bar and restaurant by the pool with a variety of food and drink available to take away. In the reception area there are postcards, stamps and a currency exchange.
The apartments are about a 5-10 minute walk from the shops, cafes, and restaurants and the beach is also nearby. There is also a shopping mall about 10-15 minutes’ walk away.
This was the first time me and my family had been abroad and we decided it was worth going again! We are going back to the Fuertesol Apartments in July 07!

May 2007, Miss L Armitage

Myself and my fiancé stayed here for 7 days mid June and thought it was a lovely well situated hotel (we are a young couple late 20's early 30's).
Granted it's not 5 star but its decent enough - a little tired in places but then again you can't argue for the price!
You can hire a car through their reception and they will arrange to have the car brought to you there. We asked about a car and 10 minutes later it turned up - fab!
The pool is massive but cold! There are plenty of sunbeds and wherever you sunbathe you will be in the sun it's very open.
Good if you are a plane spotter as you are right under the flight path, as the airport is 10 minutes away.
We stayed in a poolside apartment which in my opinion is the best as it is away from the road.
Not far into town or the beach.
Ideal if you want a quiet base away from the nightlife as it has no entertainment.
Not so suitable for the disabled as there are quite a few steps around the complex - more generally it's on the bottom of the hill to chipmunk mountain so one on the beach front is more suitable I would advise.
We have booked to go back there in a week’s time as it's nice and relaxing and really warm at this time of year! I would recommend it as long as you are not expecting a hotel like the Hilton - more like a Travel Lodge!

Apr 2007, Mrs K Reeves

My sister and I took 5 kids to Fuertesol apartments and we had a wonderful holiday.
The rooms were basic with a toaster that worked when it wanted and 2 rings that took hours to heat water, but we didn’t go on holiday to cook so it didn’t spoil our holiday.
The maids were brilliant and our apartment was cleaned nearly every other day and all the staff were very friendly and spoke quite good English.
The pool was unbelievably cold but the kids didn’t mind and had a great time.
The pool bar did good reasonably priced food and drinks but the surrounding shopping centres had many varied food places, which welcomed children and their service was brilliant as were the prices.
We had been to Fuerteventura before but not to these apartments but we will definitely be going there again.
Not a holiday for people who want to party as there isn’t much of a night life but if you want a relaxing holiday this is definitely the place to go.
For something to do during the day try the Harbour area there is a pedelo hire and diving lessons etc, also a wonderful floating shop where the kids (and adults) can feed the fish and see some sea lions ... brilliant!!

First time for me going on holiday...

Apr 2007, heatherbell

First time for me going on holiday alone with my 3 children aged 14 13 & 9.
Bungalows in lovely settings very clean & plenty of towel change, maids in every other day.
Large pool with plenty of sunbeds. Decent mini-market & pool snack bar reasonably priced. Only about 5 mins walk to town with just enough shops bars & restaurants to keep us entertained.
Caleta de Fuste is very family orieintated, nice beech, mini-golf no lager louts or loud clubs which suited us down to the ground.
Most important to me was that I felt it was safe enough to let my daughters walk into town & shops on their own giving me a break.
I also hired a car (another first) & toured the island to see the sights was well worth it.
All in all it was a great holiday & we are going back this year.
Just a couple of points, there is no entertainment in Fuertasol & if you want to hire a car book before you go.

Stayed here for 1 week on a girls...

Mar 2007, Martha Watson

Stayed here for 1 week on a girls holiday. First impresions were not as expected from the brochure .The bungalows although clean were looking tired which is not so good at the start of the season. There was plenty paint pots lying around and evidence of previous spills which had not been cleaned up ,giving an overall untidy uncared for look.
We did request a change of room, as we like to have breakfast on the terrace also a sundowner at night, but our bungalow looked right onto the main road, and had no screening only a mesh fence. This was dealt with promptly and we were moved to a poolside bungalow.
The week we were there was very quiet, which suited us fine as we just wanted to chill out, but I would not recommend this resort for a fun filled family holiday, as there is nothing on site apart from the wonderful 30 mtr.pool, which I may add was heart stoppingly cold.
No problem with sun beds as there are plenty and every area of the pool is bathed in sunshine but be warned don’t let the wind deceive you you need plenty sun cream
because you will burn.
Resort centre only a short walk away, which is reached via a short underpass which has 1 floodlight at resort end, so you are walking into a darker area, but only about10 mtr.
Never felt uncomfortable using this, but obviously be observant, the alternative route is the main road which no doubt will be a lot busier in high season
Almost forgot to mention the planes, they do fly right overhead but you only have the noise for about 30 secs. and after two days you hardly notice them.
All in all it was a very enjoyable holiday but, the bungalows would not be my first choice on my return visit. Yes I will go back again because it is a beautiful island with very friendly people
I always use this site when considering a holiday, as I find the comments on a whole are fair but, sometimes I come back from a holiday and wonder if I have been at the same resort. Please take my comments as I saw them and don’t let them put you off because as I said I have read some horror stories and still had a wonderful time.
