Great place to stay!
from Cindy_fo
We have just returned from a week stay in this hotel and we were initially worried after reading some of the reviews. However, this hotel was outstandingly clean, tidy and the staff were professional and polite. The ratio was probably 70% German, 20% UK and rest from Italy/Holland but all the guests mixed well and were polite. The food was of a good standard although could be a little repetitive but was always well cooked and well presented. The layout of the hotel takes some getting used to as it's built on a cliff side and is in 'layers' but the views, landscapibg, gardens and pool areas are excellent. Plenty of sunbeds and plenty of room. Only downside is that not all bars are all inclusive and it stops at 11.00pm but most of the guests are tucked up by midnight so there is little to do after that except retire to bed. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will return there at some point for another break
Hotel Pajara beach

Really enjoyed our two week stay at this well run, modern, sociable and spotlessly clean hotel. There were few English guests but many German guests for the first ten days. They were charming, polite and although there was a language barrier tried hard to communicate so that we wouldn't feel left out. The last four days many of the new guests were from France and the overall standard went down, although management did try to enforce dress codes etc. The hotel became very noisy in the public areas and the tone of the place seemed to change entirely. Discipline of children seemed to be the main problem and some were left to run through the dining room etc which was a shame. Apart from that last four days it was a very relaxing holiday and we came away with an excellent impression of the hotel. Also it was very nice knowing it wasn't the English for a change letting themselves down. My only grumble and a very small grumble it is - I felt it would have been so much nicer if the pool bar had been open in the evening as an alternative to the bars in the hotel. The hotel was generally NO SMOKING so the only place smokers could go for a fix was on the terrace outside the dining room and bar which meant that any non-smokers who wanted to sit outside on the warm evenings either sat and inhaled cigarette smoke from all around them or stayed inside which I felt I could have stayed in England to do. Other than that I was most impressed with the overall standard. Anyone visiting this hotel please try out the piano bar because although it is the one bar you have to pay for your drinks it is worth it for the music and just to have a change. I would certainly recommend this hotel to family and friends.
Loved the hotel!

Me and my boyfriend went to the Pajara Beach last October and had the best holiday. The weather was perfect and the hotel was wonderful. The layout of he hotel was a bit odd - all upside down, but was ok once we had got used to it. The rooms were large with a nice powerful shower. Our room was on the ground floor overlooking the swimming pool, which was a perfect location for going to and from the pool which was gorgeous and great for cooling down. The food in the main restaurant was lovely- lots of selection to cater for all tastes. The restaurant staff were very friendy and helpful, often cooking food to suit your own tastes and chatting about the various dishes. The wine in the restaurant was ok and the fruit juices were nice (although the glasses were miniscule). The pool bar had a good selection of drinks (mainly locally produced) and also had ice cream. The snack selection was a bit poor, but with the food on offer at breakfast, lunch and dinner, I had no desire to eat anything inbetween. Although, it was a few minutes walk to get onto a nice beach, it was nice to have a bit of exercise to walk off all the food. Yes, there are lots of nudists but it didnt bother us at all. If you do decide to walk to the beach keep an eye out for all of the cute chipmunks on the path to the beach. On my birthday, the hotel delivered a lovely cake and bottle of sparkling wine to my room without being prompted. The main bar was nice and the selection of drinks was perfectly adequate - the most I had to queue was about 3 minutes just before they stopped serving. We enjoyed having a couple of drinks after lunch just enjoying the view out to sea. This hotel was perfect for relaxing - nice and quiet, plenty of sunbeds (although I did have to get up early to beat the germans to the sunbeds we wanted) and good food and drink. It is quite a way out of the town but there is pretty much nothin there anyway and there is a small shop in the hotel selling newspapers, water(overpriced) souvenirs and sun tan creams so we had no need to go off site anyway. The only bad things I have to say is as everyone has pointed out - the amount of space that is being wasted within the hotel. The piano bar - cmon - surely they can see how much better it would be to get people in there if it was all inclusive!! Also, the a la carte restaurant - I didnt see it open once in the whole time I was there - also because it wasnt part of the all inclusive. Also, because everyone goes to the main bar at night, there is insufficient seating. If they used other areas as all inclusive, this would reduce this problem. I didnt go to watch the entertainment but I had a quick peek and it looked ok. Overall, a great relaxing holiday with plenty of sun and good food.
great hotel

date 14/2/2007 booked our 1 week holiday with airtours. Good flight from East Midlands, no problems. Thought the hotel was excellent as we were quite worried after reading some of the reviews. The only complaint we agreed with was the flat pillows! The upside down floor numbering took a bit of getting used, but once you've been there you will understand why this is done in this way. Ana Belene in the Concert room bar gave exceptional service. Overall it was a great holiday. A lovely touch was when it was my birthday and the hotel left a cake and a bottle of Cava in the room while we were out, with no prompt from us! Good food, plenty to drink, no problems - we would recommend this hotel - a definite four star standard!
Stunning Hotel
from Jaken
The Pajara Beach is the most beautiful hotel we have stayed in- ever! My husband and I went for a week to chill out and it was perfect. The rooms are spacious and very clean as is the whole of the hotel. I have never seen grounds as well kept. This hotel is not for those who want to be entertained - we only went to watch the entertainment once - it was ok but the room was crowded and you couldn't get a seat. The food was lovely, though on occasions a little cold, but there was plenty of choice. Staff on the whole were quite friendly and we didn't come across anybody who wasn't polite and helpful. The resort was a little disappointing although previous reports do say there isn't much there. We only walked to the beach once- it is a bit of a trek, but quite pretty when you get there - no bars or toilets though. Be warned there are lots of nudists, which didn't bother us but I know some people find this disturbing. We would visit the hotel again without a second thought - if it was in a different resort - but Costa Calma ( or Costa Coma as it's known) seems to be still developing so perhaps this will improve.
Not up to 4 Star standards

Stayed at this hotel over Christmas with my wife. On entering the hotel at 8pm, first impressions were good with the reception area being modern and welcoming. We were told by the reception to go to the piano bar to fill out the registration form and receive our welcome drink but found the bar to be deserted (as stated in previous reviews the reason is that this bar is not part of the all inclusive package and so remains empty 99% of the time, what a ridiculous waste!!). Not too bothered by the lack of welcome drink we made our way to the room, which was a major plus point. Nice clean airy room with great view of garden, pool areas and the sea. Only negative point of the room was the lack of a minibar but that was no real problem to us as we don't go on holiday to spend too much time in the room. The pool areas of the hotel are very well maintained and spacious enough to accomodate all the guests comfortably. The main pools were freezing so we didn't bother going in but we did see a few brave people giving it a go. The Pool bar which opens at 10am, although when we visited they never seemed to be quite organised when they first opened in a morning, and the supposed timings throughout the day were also a little wayward is very large and for the most part self service with the usual beer, soft drinks and snacks at certain times, a nice place to sit and people watch at the end of a hard day by the pool. The restaurant is where this hotel really starts to let itself down and is definitely nowhere near 4 star standards in our opinion. The choice is very limited and when you take a plate you have to reject the first 3 or 4 due to the remnants of food still left on them. Same goes for the glasses which look like they have simply been rinsed under a tap to clean them. The tablecloths are stained with previous meal remnants as well which is hardly an ideal appetiser. The night time bar areas are also pretty dire. There are 3 main bar areas. The piano bar which as previously mentioned is not part of the inclusive option. The smoking bar which is very much like a smoking area found at an airport, which as 2 non smokers we did not particularly like. Then there is the main entertainment lounge which opens at 8pm. This is a cross between a childrens play group and Butlins which I accept is fairly normal for this type of room but the difference in this hotel is that there is no alternative (OH, EXCEPT FOR THE PIANO BAR!!). That said we got in there early enough each evening to claim our place on the bar stools and make the most of the entertainment which was average for the most part but kept us entertained enough. Service throughout the hotel is good and friendly but there are not enough staff at peak times. Another thing that is very noticeable is the empty spaces throughout the hotel which gave it a bit of a deserted feel at times. All in all this has the potential to be an excellent hotel but at the moment is nowhere near the required standards of other 4 Star (and even some 3 Star) hotels we have stayed in.
Almost perfect one-week chill
from Alham
Just returned from a one week stay at the Pajara arranged through Mytravel. The hotel is located almost at the southern end of a strip of hotels which back onto a series of smallish beaches and is 10/15 minutes walk from a 20km stretch of golden sand. First impressions of the hotel were good as it is quite futuristic in design, rooms were spacious and spotless and pools and lounging areas were well laid out with loads of space given the hotel was approx. two-thirds full. The reception staff were a touch surly but were competent and arranged a room swop for us with few quibbles. I agree with previous reviewers about the hard beds and thin pillows which let the hotel down a tad. Food in the restaurant was excellent in both quality and presentation and the drinks on offer were of reasonable quality given the price of an all-inclusve package. The evening entertainment was the usual amateurish carbaret stuff but we found the people-watching more entertaining anyway. 95% of the residents were German so some of the dress and behaviour was quite amusing. We found them friendly and well-mannered and in fact the only people we encountered who were noisey, drunk and objectionable were an English couple. A lot of naturists were on "display" at the beaches so beware if you find this offensive. The resort itself consists of a few shops and bars 10-15 minutes walk away so its not the place to be if you're into shopping, partying, promenading etc. Overall I would highly recommend the hotel if you want a good all-inclusive for chilling by the sea or poolside. We were there until 20th December and the weather was really excellent or maybe we just hit lucky!!
Some good, some bad
from SunnyBay
I was there with my wife and 2 kids for 2 weeks, been to the island 2 times before. First its not a ALL inclusive hotel, its a SOME incusive hotel. When we arrived we could choose from a champain or juice, but I thought its all inclusive, why could I not choose 2 drinks and a beer, strange.... The first thing we notice is the pianobar, it is really tragic, big pianobar, no people there, why, you have to pay. 90% of the time we passed by we could see the bartender just standing there by himself, what a wast! And what a bad impression!! Why not make it all incusive??? And make it a music bar instead. It felt like we came in to a ghost hotel, feeling that the hotel had no sole. We came to the room, nice big room, big bath but the beds was hard as stone and the pillow as flat as paper. It took some time to find where all the people was hiding. We came there late, and I felt strange, no one outside, no people by the pools, no outside resturants or entertainment or music... Felt like we really made a big mistake. Fond later that there was one huge inside resturant that was all inclusive. Good food, but the glasses were so smal they looked more like shot glas. Could poar your own beer, wine (I did not like the wine), soada. 80% poared the beer wrong ending up with just foam, what about putting up a picture how to poar?? Amost no kids at the hotel, in the miniclub 3-4 kids. All the intertainment was inside, one big room with free bar, it was not bad. And there was one other room with bar, with some seats outside the hotel. In the day there was free drinks and some easy lunch at the pool area (big lunch inside the hotel), nice big place overlooking the sea. It would really have been great with some entertainment and bar some days a week here, but no. All dark, everything was inside. We liked the vollyball, soccer and tennis corts inside the hotell area, and the pools very nice. The kids loved getting their own free drinks and ice cream all the time! It was a nice place, put I felt it has no sole, no energy. Where is the music, people sitting in a outside bar after sun sun goes down by the sea or pools... And the pay resturant and pianobar with no people made a bad impression. How can the management not understand this???? Outside the hotel, no shops, had to walk 10-15 min, 3-4 shops and you had to walk 10 min again 2-3 shops and walk again 10 min for some shops and the ATM machine..... Had to walk 15 min to get to the large beach, nice beach. Would we come again, really not sure, after we got used to it, it was really not bad, but it would had been so easy for the management to make it a great place.
Wouldn't recommend!

This is a nice looking hotel in a very quite area the pools are nice and the rooms are a good size. We stayed on the ground floor and these rooms tend to have a problem with ants we had them in the bathroom, the maid came in one day and sprayed them and then just left dead ants all over the bath and in the soap, not nice! also the worst thing about this hotel were the flies they were everywhere, even in the resturant landing on the the plates and food and they didn't seem to do anything to prevent them. The hotel next door was the H10 and as you walked past this the smell was unbearable as opposite there was some sort of sewage tank, i'm sure this was the reason for the flies. The entertainment wasn't very good and mostly in German as the hotel is full of them not many English.
If you're English don't go there

What can I say , I visited this on a family holiday end of May / early June 2006, 4 adults and 3 children aged 1/5/10. I will keep it brief and to bullet points as this is all it deserves 1/ Rooms and Pool - Fantastic , I have stayed all in Europe and the Carribean , this hotel was clean , rooms excellent. Now it goes down hill 2/ Food , buffet o.k , A la carte , well even though it does not say it in the Airtours brochure this Restaurant is to pay for , and you have to choose your food one day in advanace. 3/ Staff , apart from the maids , rude and igonorant , if you are not German they do not want to know . Quiet frankly I could have really got into trouble with these people , they did not even mind upsetting a pregnant English lady , in our party. 4/ Resort - small and quiet. 5/ Beach , nice , as long as you can stand all the German nudists
