Oro Blanco

My daughter and I stayed there for a week at the beginning of October which turn out to be hotter than thier own summer !!, to be honest this is a no frills place to stay,so if you just want somewhere to act as a base and go of exploring this is ideal, we had no problem with cockroaches or ants so its hit or miss if you encounter them.
The pool is a decent size and the majority of the staff are very helpful and will go out thier way to help and give you advice on bars and eateries.
The Thomas Cook rep for the Hotel is 'Jen' a lovely lass who proved valuable with any issues or ideas for trips during your stay .
The location is ideal for Siam Park and 'The Strip' where there are plenty of places to eat and drink.
As you turn left out the hotel and go a hundred or so yards you'll find 'DJ Jocks' formally known as the 'Bus Stop' , we spent many a night in there and the staff made me and my 12yr old daughter VERY welcome , definatley worth a visit.
At the end of the day , your holiday is what you make it..
- Advice: Be aware that a 30 euro deposit is payable per adult for the room , although we met some people who didnt have to pay for some reason.

I stayed at Oro Blanco with my husband and four children, we had a three bedroom apartment. On the first day of arrival which was three o'clock in morning one of my son's screamed as he saw a massive cockroach!!!!! That wasn't pleasant i can tell you. Then we had to beg for towels and tell them to come and change the bins. If i never went to find one of the cleaners this wouldn't of been done. I wasn't impressed with some of the young men who were staying there, when it came to my children playing in the pool, i had to tell them what for as they tried to take my son's ball, to which i weren't having none of it. The beach is nice apart from seeing alot of topless old women, which wasn' really appropriate. I would go back to tenerife but never to cockroach infested ORO BLANCO!!!!

Hotel - stayed here from 8/9/11 - 17/9/11 all in all not too bad. We stayed in room 216 which was basic but really nice, and overlooked the pool.
Staff- were very friendly expecially Sandy who worked in the bar at the pool, she was by far the best cook too.
Overall- mixed groups of young, old, couples and families., the only negative was the bar closed at 10.30 ... WAKE UP its 2011 and think of all the revenue you are losing..
Food- If you want to experience really excellent food go to BAR 13 which is just minutes from the hotel...turn left out of the hotel and walk down the road a few yards.. its amazing food best we had, pity we only found it 3 days before we were leaving ..

We stayed there recently for 10 days and was much better than expected, however the cleaners were a let down. The floor was dirty and we were always asking for new loo roll as it was never changed. They didnt change our sheets once, just gave us clean towels.
We were a group of 8 girls and found when we got there that there were only 6 beds so we just had to share.
We got the deposit back completely unexpectedly, we left it a mess and rubbish everywhere, didnt do the washing up, broke a door and the curtains, so that was a nice surprise to go home with!!
Overall a good stay and i cant wait to go back again in the future

Me and my partner both arrived at the Oro Blanco in the evening, on arrival we checked in and then we were told we had to hand over 30 euros each for any damage that we might cause during our stay, we were given our money back on the last day, this was a bit unfair because we didnt get to check the room before hand so anything could of been broken...so beware.
We had asked for a pool view and a double bed but we had a view over looking the other hotel and the golf course to the left hand side of us which wasnt to bad, although we were facing the main road this didnt disturb us.
The staff were fairly friendly.
The room was very big and had a kitchen and tele which you had to pay for 1 euro per hour and the tele didnt always pick up a signal.
The pool area was very nice and clean and the bar area provided a nice breakfast and drinks.
The walk down to the beach was about 10 minutes, the only down side was waling past the strip club and the girls outside approaching every male that walked past.....so ladies keep your man close haha!
Apart from that the holiday was great.

Just back from half term week in the Oro Blanco in Tenerife. Read the reviews on this website and learned of the deposit - travel agent checked and assured us that this was not the case BUT we had to hand over 30 euros per person for the week (120 euro made a bit of a dent in our spending money) so be warned. The safe in the room costs 22.60 euro for the week but you get ten back.
The apartment was very clean and the kitchen had everything you would want for a week away cause cooking was the last thing I intenended to do. The staff empty the bins everyday and do a general tidy round so no complaints there.
However the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything going on in the next apartments. We were treated to the delights of bawdy behaviour from neighbours on the first night which kept us awake as they kicked doors etc - fortunatly for us they were thrown out by the police at about 5 am.
The complex is very clean and the staff are brilliant. It is geared for families and to my mind seemed to very very safe for kids although disabled access isn`t the best as the lifts don`t go down to the bar level and the steps are rather steep. All in all it was a nice place to while away the half term holiday in the sun instead of the cold and wet weather we`ve been having.
My biggest bug bear is the area where the Oro Blanco is located. It is very seedy!!! Go out the front gate turn right and you walk past strip clubs, lap dancing bars and isn`t just what I wanted my kids to see. The rep even told the assembled group at the introductory meeting that it wise not to turn left after 9pm.
Turn right and you have quite a walk to the hub of the town e.g. the Safari centre which is fantastic and has brilliant restaurants and lots to see even later in the evening. Until you get to the nicer bit of the town the footpaths are grubby and broken and we spotted quite a few used and disgarded condoms on the way which were all the time we stayed.
Great holiday but we won`t be back but don`t let me put you off....

I am just away to go back to the Oro Blanco in Feb this will be our 6th year there and always go around Jan/Feb time
The rooms are basic but for all we use them for it is ideal, any time we have been the hotel, pool area and rooms are very clean
Value for money and location are great. You pay for what you get - some people expect 5 star when only paying for 2 - absolutely no complaints from me and looking forward to Feb to get back to Tenerife and the Oro Blano
Good Italian just round the corner from hotel Michelangelo, most restaurants are pretty good

stayed at this hotel for a week for the new year we had room 216 we found it very nice and clean plenty of room for 2 of us i must admit when they asked us for a 30 euros dep: each i was amazed as we are both in our late years pensioners i asked when we would get this back and he said the day you go home thats not when you want euros so you have to loose out back in uk when you change it in to pounds. but having said that we would return to this hotel but had to say we was not happy paying dep:

This hotel is perfect if your going on a young and lively holiday. I stayed here in July 2010 with 4 girls for our leaving cert holiday and it was THE perfect location. Walking distance to the strip, beach, bars and restaurants. This hotel had many other 18-30 year olds staying here. Defiantly not ideal for families due to noise levels. But otherwise had an amazing time, cheap drink and cheap food! Only €3.50 for a full Irish breaky in most nearby restaurants. Going back this summer 2012, cannot Wait!!!
