" love the reef!! "

I stayed at the Oro blanco for 2 weeks in August with my boyfriend this year we were a bit disappointed when we arrived as we got told there was air con when there wasn't so we had to hire a fan which was useless to be honest. We also had to complain as we hadn't had clean towels in a week and our room only got cleaned twice in the two weeks we were there. The staff were extremely friendly especially Tommy and there happy hour is a must :D The pool was very clean although was overcrowded somedays. It can be noisy at nights due to pubs near by but that didnt bother us though as we were out in the pubs each night anyway and it is situated next to a brothel lol. This was our first time in Tenerife and we loved it there was so much to do Siam park was amazing but queues were miles long...loro Parque was amazing too i would definitely recommend these to anyone. We thought the Jungle Park was a bit cruel and was not really worth going to. Plenty of pubs near too. The Bus Stop is great which is just around the corner the meals were cheap and good. Our best meal by far was in the Villa Flor wow the portions were brilliant we went there most nights and the worst was Aberdeen Steakhouse yuk didnt even taste like steak. I brought back many cigarettes as Richmond were only 15 euros for 200 and Royals were only 11 i was in my element.... We are definitely going to go back to tenerife but prob wont stay at the oro blanco again although i enjoyed my stay. If you are looking for a self catering, friendly and central place then Oro Blanco would be ideal.

Advice: lovely place, nice and hot and plenty to do

Activities: Loro Parque, Siam Park....Villa Flor, The Bus Stop

" Best holiday in years "

was at the oro blanco in sept 09 was a bit apprehensive about the holiday as we had booked to go to the malibu park but read the reviews and didnt like what we saw so we booked the oro blanco thank goodness we did it was basic clean and all the staff very friendly and most of all the fried breakfasts in the mornin are to die for. apart from the pool and pool tables there not much to do for the kids and the entertainment could be much better but when you have sunshine everyday for 2 weeks what more can you ask for the hotel is central to all the shops and 5 mins walk to veronicas will definatly be returning was devastated at having to come home

Advice: it's amazin

Activities: siam park is a must foor everyone and for food you cant go past the whiskey jar

" oro for hire "

stayed for 2 weeks, 3 adults. accom very basic, but clean. everything available if you dont mind paying to hire them, ie fans, iron, safe, etc. TV is one euro per hour. Staff very friendly, and you must visit Tommy in the pool bar, for his "SHOTS". Food in pool bar good and cheap. Good pool, nice size and depth.
Due to shape of property, ie a "U" shape, any sounds echo, ie people talking in pool bar at 2am, sounds like they are in your room.
Good location for bars, restaurants, and access to either Los Christianos or beaches. Also only across road from new Siam Water park, which is a must, much better than Aqualand. Also if you want to go to Jungle Park (where the bird of prey show is fantastic - watching them fly free) book via an agent (£17-19 euros) as it is 24.50 euros if you pay at the park, buses are free and directly opposite apartments.
Reps tell you to turn right out of the gate, but there are loads of great pubs and restaurants if you turn left, especially the chinese just around the corner on the left. Al you can eat for 6.50 euros, but they stitch you with the price of the drinks, but the buffet is worth it.
This may sound like a negative review, and in part it is, but although we would not stay there or in playa de las americas again, we will visit the apartments to see the staff, as we made some great friends.

" our trip to Oro Blanco! "

We Have just got back from Oro Blanco and we had a fantastic time! We were abit worried about going as we had seen some bad reviews about the hotel but I dont know what all the fuss was about! The room was spacious and clean and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Yes the hotel was basic but what do you expect when you pay next to nothing. It is the perfect place to stay for people who, like us, want a lively trip. Perhaps not the best place for families with younger children as it could sometimes get quite rowdy, but all in all a great holiday!!! would definatley go again!

" very good holiday "

arrived home last week from a weeks stay in Oro Blanco and had a really good holiday, it was just me and my best friend, we're 18 and 19. our apartment was really clean and it stayed that way the whole week, the maid did a very good job. had a kettle, toaster, hobs and a table-top oven, the TV had a metre on it, u get an hour per euro, not many channels as the signal isn't too good, we had BBC1, ITV and sky1, the rest were german and spanish. had a lovely decent sized balcony with a nice sea view. our room was at the back of the building so we didnt hear that much noise, although the doors are quite thin, u can hear everything that goes on in the corridor. could hear some music from the bar and were glad we wern't in one of the apartments over the pool or we wudnt have had much sleep.
takes just 15 mins car ride to/from the airport, the hotel is close to the centre. loads of bars and restaurants to choose from, nice friendly people. theres a macdonalds and burger king (and even a Hooters)right on the sea front. would have liked a bit more entertainment in the hotel itself. keep an eye out for people trying to sell you stuff on the street, an African woman tried to sell me 'good luck' for €5. would deffinatley go again, but with a group of people, didnt feel safe for 2 young girls to be walking the streets at night. all in all, a great holiday.

" oro blanco "

We left to go oro blanco on 19th december 2008. We were a bit apprenhensive about the weather, but were pleasantly surprised. The weather was magnificant, we sunbathed each and every day we were there. However, the only let down was oro blanco as a whole. We were appointed a 2 bedroomed apartment, we had two adults and 3 kids. The apartment was huge, but at night it was very very cold. It was so cold we could have done with a heater. When we tried to ask for blankets, it was a struggle. It was a clean apartment, especially with the maids running in and out everyday ... but I must stress to everyone who uses this hotel KEEP YOUR VALUABLE PERSONAL BELONGINGS IN YOUR SAFE. My niece had her nintendo DS with 10 games stolen out of the room, and the only people who had access to it were the maids with the key. The maids even went in the room when we werent there, I really wasnt comfortable about this and my worse fears were confimed when it was discovered stolen. When we reported it to the reception they said there was nothing they could do about it and asked if we wanted them to call the police. Well... considering we were leaving in less than 11 hours it hardly seemed practical. Still, we followed procedure. There were no cockroaches, or any bugs to be honest. Maybe because it was winter .. though I did see some cockroaches by the trees .. but none in the apartments. The facilities in the room was sufficient, but the layout and accessibility of the apartments are a bit awkard especially if you have heavy suitcases or pushchairs/wheelchairs. The entertainment is sooo sooo drab. There is no entertainment. We played a quiz in the hotel bar and the entertainer gave us the answers. We won a free round of drinks. That was the higlight of our time in the hotel bar in oro blanco. Bingo was supposed to follow, but there wasnt enough people who wanted to play as it was 1 euro a set. The staff behind the bar really look and act as if they dont want to be there and we lived on chip buttys for snacks at the hotel. The food is dire. All in all I wouldnt reccommend the oro blanco to anyone who wants a stress free holiday. Everytime I was at the reception, there was always someone complaining.

Advice: small resort, not much to see

Activities: aqua land/jungle park

Good for: Beach

" WELL LOOKED AFTER "

We were FATHER[61]2 SONS[40/38]. Just got back from Ora Blanco,we read some of the reviews before we went, and it was not all good. However,we all agreed, for the price you pay it was very good, friendly and very helpfull staff, clean apartments and NO cockroaches. The bar and eating areas where good and well priced, for example,,Breaky[full]3.9EURO,AND only 1.8EURO a pint, with happy hour twice nightly. Entertainment 5nights a week, but karaoke man should let someone else have a go. Cleaners came every other day, and LIFTS to all floors. THANK YOU ORA BLANCO..FROM BOB,DAVE,&SCOTT from ROCHDALE..

" Oro Blanco "

I stayed self catering at the Oro Blanco for a week this September. It is fairly basic but the rooms are a decent size and the rates are fairly inexpensive. Another plus is the central location of the hotel and I had no issues with noise at night and the staff were friendly.
The main note of caution is hire a safe and keep a very close eye on your belongings. My son had his expensive mobile phone stolen from our room while he was sleeping in his bed ! I met several people who had items stolen and all (like my son) on the last day of their holiday.

" our holiday "

We had two apartments in Oro Blanco for the family, although they are now a bit dated,I think they are about to be down-up to a more modern look. The apartments were cleaned every other day with fresh towels. We ate out all the time so nevr needed the kitchen, why cook, you are on holiday. The pool bar staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help.Bar prices as well as snacks very cheap. We never go all inclusive as you are served the cheapest of food and drinks, once again I state we are on holiday so we expect the best. All incusive food and beers not on at the Oro Blanco, thank god.The pool was a must for every one,the kids loved it.No problems with inflatables,be it a ring,a boat or any type of floatable aid the staff had no problems with this and everyone enjoyed themselves in or out of the pool,a magic and happy time was had by all.Reception staff 24 hours a day were brill no problems. We would go back to Oro Blanco.
The only bad point was the Thomas Cook reps, they sell tours etc as well as Aqualand at very high prices. We paid a fortune to go to Aqualand as we were told by the Thomas Cook Reps BRIAN and SARAH that the new Saim Water Park did not have a safety certificate,THIS WAS A LIE !!! as they get a better payoff from Aqualand. We paid Thomas Cook 139 euros for Aqualand,if we had gone to pay at the door we would only have paid 68 euros !!!!!!!! so dont buy any trips from the reps.Take note Thomas Cook have now nearly taken over all the holiday companies and Tenerife airport was full of their planes.
All in all we had a good time.

" Oro dissapointment!!! "

Me and 4 others stayed in this hotel at the beginning of oct! Upon arrival we werent given proper directions to the apartment,at 3 o'clock in the morning and a delayed flight, this isnt the best of beginnings.
Throughout the holiday the reception staff were rude and very unhelpul and at one point i even had to request to speak to the manager.
Also during our stay 17 items of clothing and property belonnging to us went missing and after speaking with the reception was told it was not there responsibilty. A comment of "i dont like c12" was also made!
I admit , our group was rather rouwdy and at times could be loud, but a polite request would of been sufficent.
During our stay an accident also occured so that one of our party injured his foot causing some damage to a window. The rep was no help at all and only seemed intrested in making sure we paid as soon as possible.
On a brighter note the area ( pubs and clubs) were brilliant and the bar staff at the hotel ( namely hugh) were really nice and welcoming. Perhaps the other staff should take a leaf out of his book!
I would recommend tenerife to everyone - just not the hotel!

" Had really good apartments, one 3... "

Had really good apartments, one 3 bedroom and one 2 bedroom, ground floor in the Club section of the apartments, for 10 of us, 8 adults 1 child and 1 infant. The rooms are spotless and the maids changed towels every time they came in (not Wed or Sun) and bed linen twice a week. Our kids were really untidy and they tidied their mess for them, we left them a good tip to show our appreciation.
The apartments are good but they have changed since we were last there two years ago from a family to a youngsters apartments. We still had a good time but had to calm down groups of lads and lasses in the pool when my 13 month old granddaughter was close to them. We still met some lovely people, including the people I had words with and some really nice families.
Situated perfectly between the Starco/Veronicas(5mins walk) area and the Patch(7-8mins) and on towards Los Cristianos(10mins) Oro Blanco is an excellent base that is even better now that Siam Park is open. You are within walking distance of the new park and can even see it if you are facing the golf course.
There are some fantastic eating and drinking holes nearby. Starting with the restraunts best first-
Mama Rosa's, can not be faulted
Michaelangelo's, almost as good
Matthews, really good breakfast
American Dreams, nice food in American setting with decent entertainment
Royal Garden, on the seafront at Veronicas, really nice
Pheasant Plucker, good food.
Pubs- in no particular order
Yesteryears- good bar, tranny dj is a laugh
Jacks Bar, Royal Oak 2 and The Bus Stop are so good we spent he whole night in them sometimes.
Leonardos, do not go to PDLA and miss The Wild Boys
The Anchor, became my local, watched football here and they have some cracking entertainment at a night time
Clubs-
Tramps, really good especially when the big djs are on
Sound of Cream, good club but quiet

" Me and my boyfriend have just got... "

Me and my boyfriend have just got back from here.
We were a bit worried before we went because of some of the reviews we read but it was nothing like the reviews the rooms were very basic but you get what you pay for the kitchen was good enough to make food in though.
We didn't see one cockroach in our room or in the whole hotel except for outside which is to be expected.
No air conditioning but you can rent a fan from reception if needs be.
Staff very friendly.
We didn't hear to much noise a bit from veronicas at night but nothing that you wouldn't beable to sleep through.
Would definitely recommend YesterYears for somewhere to drink really cheap and the staff couldn't be more welcoming theres a tranny who works in there who goes by the name of Jessica Frost and she is absolutely fantastic.
Would definitely recommend it and we are thinking about going back in February.

" Just got back and had a very good... "

Just got back and had a very good time at oro blanco, The staff were very good and helpfull,The rooms are quite spacious and had everything that was needed. The hotel pool was great for my 7 yr old son ,Having lots of fun and meeting other younger kids to play with. All thomas cook reps were very helpfull and tried their best to please everyone. Only saw 3 cockroaches the whole two weeks, But hey they were here before us.my only gripe is that there was no aircon and it was bloody hot.but that was my own fault for not checking.remember that you only get what you pay for in life.and oro blanco was a good holiday for the price.
