our holiday
6 / 10
Oct 2008, gde

We had two apartments in Oro Blanco for the family, although they are now a bit dated,I think they are about to be down-up to a more modern look. The apartments were cleaned every other day with fresh towels. We ate out all the time so nevr needed the kitchen, why cook, you are on holiday. The pool bar staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help.Bar prices as well as snacks very cheap. We never go all inclusive as you are served the cheapest of food and drinks, once again I state we are on holiday so we expect the best. All incusive food and beers not on at the Oro Blanco, thank god.The pool was a must for every one,the kids loved it.No problems with inflatables,be it a ring,a boat or any type of floatable aid the staff had no problems with this and everyone enjoyed themselves in or out of the pool,a magic and happy time was had by all.Reception staff 24 hours a day were brill no problems. We would go back to Oro Blanco.
The only bad point was the Thomas Cook reps, they sell tours etc as well as Aqualand at very high prices. We paid a fortune to go to Aqualand as we were told by the Thomas Cook Reps BRIAN and SARAH that the new Saim Water Park did not have a safety certificate,THIS WAS A LIE !!! as they get a better payoff from Aqualand. We paid Thomas Cook 139 euros for Aqualand,if we had gone to pay at the door we would only have paid 68 euros !!!!!!!! so dont buy any trips from the reps.Take note Thomas Cook have now nearly taken over all the holiday companies and Tenerife airport was full of their planes.
All in all we had a good time.

Oro dissapointment!!!

Oct 2008, Kaylee_louise

Me and 4 others stayed in this hotel at the beginning of oct! Upon arrival we werent given proper directions to the apartment,at 3 o'clock in the morning and a delayed flight, this isnt the best of beginnings.
Throughout the holiday the reception staff were rude and very unhelpul and at one point i even had to request to speak to the manager.
Also during our stay 17 items of clothing and property belonnging to us went missing and after speaking with the reception was told it was not there responsibilty. A comment of "i dont like c12" was also made!
I admit , our group was rather rouwdy and at times could be loud, but a polite request would of been sufficent.
During our stay an accident also occured so that one of our party injured his foot causing some damage to a window. The rep was no help at all and only seemed intrested in making sure we paid as soon as possible.
On a brighter note the area ( pubs and clubs) were brilliant and the bar staff at the hotel ( namely hugh) were really nice and welcoming. Perhaps the other staff should take a leaf out of his book!
I would recommend tenerife to everyone - just not the hotel!

Had really good apartments, one 3 bedroom and one 2 bedroom, ground floor in the Club section of the apartments, for 10 of us, 8 adults 1 child and 1 infant. The rooms are spotless and the maids changed towels every time they came in (not Wed or Sun) and bed linen twice a week. Our kids were really untidy and they tidied their mess for them, we left them a good tip to show our appreciation.
The apartments are good but they have changed since we were last there two years ago from a family to a youngsters apartments. We still had a good time but had to calm down groups of lads and lasses in the pool when my 13 month old granddaughter was close to them. We still met some lovely people, including the people I had words with and some really nice families.
Situated perfectly between the Starco/Veronicas(5mins walk) area and the Patch(7-8mins) and on towards Los Cristianos(10mins) Oro Blanco is an excellent base that is even better now that Siam Park is open. You are within walking distance of the new park and can even see it if you are facing the golf course.
There are some fantastic eating and drinking holes nearby. Starting with the restraunts best first-
Mama Rosa's, can not be faulted
Michaelangelo's, almost as good
Matthews, really good breakfast
American Dreams, nice food in American setting with decent entertainment
Royal Garden, on the seafront at Veronicas, really nice
Pheasant Plucker, good food.
Pubs- in no particular order
Yesteryears- good bar, tranny dj is a laugh
Jacks Bar, Royal Oak 2 and The Bus Stop are so good we spent he whole night in them sometimes.
Leonardos, do not go to PDLA and miss The Wild Boys
The Anchor, became my local, watched football here and they have some cracking entertainment at a night time
Clubs-
Tramps, really good especially when the big djs are on
Sound of Cream, good club but quiet

Me and my boyfriend have just got back from here.
We were a bit worried before we went because of some of the reviews we read but it was nothing like the reviews the rooms were very basic but you get what you pay for the kitchen was good enough to make food in though.
We didn't see one cockroach in our room or in the whole hotel except for outside which is to be expected.
No air conditioning but you can rent a fan from reception if needs be.
Staff very friendly.
We didn't hear to much noise a bit from veronicas at night but nothing that you wouldn't beable to sleep through.
Would definitely recommend YesterYears for somewhere to drink really cheap and the staff couldn't be more welcoming theres a tranny who works in there who goes by the name of Jessica Frost and she is absolutely fantastic.
Would definitely recommend it and we are thinking about going back in February.

Just got back and had a very good time at oro blanco, The staff were very good and helpfull,The rooms are quite spacious and had everything that was needed. The hotel pool was great for my 7 yr old son ,Having lots of fun and meeting other younger kids to play with. All thomas cook reps were very helpfull and tried their best to please everyone. Only saw 3 cockroaches the whole two weeks, But hey they were here before us.my only gripe is that there was no aircon and it was bloody hot.but that was my own fault for not checking.remember that you only get what you pay for in life.and oro blanco was a good holiday for the price.

We had a great holiday! the appartments were basic, but you don't go on holiday to sit in your room. they were very spacious and well equiped! the cleaner came in every day to empty bins and changed the bedding and towels every other day. the hotel was about a 15min walk to the beach and shops.. not to far though and about 5mins from the veronicas strip, although you coulnd't hear it.
the hotel was a family hotel, although it was just me and my partner there were a few other couples and groups. the hotel bar was very cheap which was handy to drink before we went out as veronicas was very expensive!!!!
over all we had a great holiday i would recommend the holiday and hotel to anybody!

I just got back from Oro Blanco, i went with my friends and we had an amazing time... the apartments was basic but thats all u need when your going with your friends... all you need is a bed to sleep in and a shower. did me fine :) the night life was amazing (missing Tramps and Yesteryear! xx) loved partying til 6 in the morning and the drinks measures were brillant (: people over there are so friendly its so easy to make friends over there! now am back in scotland the wether isnt the same and the drinks measures arent half as good as the "reefs"
******ohh and if you go to Oro Blanco and Brian offers you to go to the foam party... you HAVE to go. you think its expensive but its worth it... all your drinks are free and me and my friends think the foam party is the best night in the reef!
The reef was the best week of my life :)
Missing u Brian... PHOAM PARDYYYYY! :) xxxxxxxxxxxx

When we arrived it was about 2 in the morning, it was dark and the first thing we saw was the prostitutes so i thought it was going to be awful. I was pleasently surprised by the appartment, we had a view over the pool and the balcony was almost always sunny. I was apprehensive after all the reviews about muggers alley, and the prostitutes outside the hotel, firstly, the prostitutes arent outside the hotel, they are riight down the road, if you turn right out of the hotel on a night to get to veronicas you dont encounter any of it, we never had a problem. The staff are helpful, i would recomend hireing a fan, and a safe. They do not tolerate noise after 12 though, and are very strict on it so be careful. The weather while we were there was gorgeous, and we didnt have a problem with getting a sunbed, there arent many round the pool, but there is another terrace bit, and that had plenty. the rooms were clean, and we had no cockroaches. NOT a family hotel, but for our age it was pretty perfect! a good holiday!

Me and my 3 mates all of us 25yrs old stopped here in june! after reading the reviews i was a little apprehensive about this hotel!
But from when we first walked into our apartment we were all very amazed to find the apartment was huge, we had a living room, kitchen, bathroom, small washroom, and three bedrooms it was like our own little flat it was great!
The food around the pool was ok but we ate out most of the time! just a short 5 mins walk from the hotel theres a place called bus stop where you can get a lovely big brekkie for 5 euros this place is also good for having a few cocktails before you head up town!
make sure you head down to the market great fake designer bags, just make sure you haggle them down with the prices!
Would of loved to stay for longer 1 week was too less loved it so much!
have a lovely time!!
