" My family and I have just returned... "

My family and I have just returned from the Oro Blanco. I was a little scared before I went because of some of the things I read about them. Well can I put everyones mind at rest who are going. They are fantastic. The rooms are clean with towels getting changed every two days, bed linen changed regularly, pool area great with a good pool bar where you can get drinks and food of a good variety. The hotel staff are really helpfull rom the cleaners right way through to the reception staff. They are positioned well within walking distance to the main area and plenty of shops nearby to buy any groceries. Go there and I am sure you will have a brill time

Me and my partner took the chidren in augest of last year, unlike all the bad reviews we read we had a brill time and the only thing got us down was there was nothing for the kids but they got on with it and injoyed the pool and watter park which was only up the road and didnt cost that much, Food was nice, staff friendly also the people we meat was nice hardly no noice at all and miles away from the strip, I would deff go there again but not with the kids as there was nothing there for them and that was the only let down every thing eles was easy and smooth, YOU MUST TRY IT.

" I went to oro blanco last year and it... "

I went to oro blanco last year and it was my first time going abroad for 7yrs. When we got to the hotel we were greeted with open arms and the staff were brilliant. The hotel its self was in very good condition and the rooms were very good. when i went there was 8 of us so they accomadated us very well by putting us in 2 differen rooms next to each other. The facilities were very good. The bar was open untill early hours of the morning and the staff on the bar were good aswell. Around the pool and the pool itself were very good. There was enough space so people were not fighting to get a sunbed. The pool itself was a good set out as there was a section for the little children and a section for he rest of the people.
Overall my experiance at this hotel was a good one. i would reccomend to people to come to oro blanco as it is a really nice place to go to and very good staff.!!

" Was a bit worried when i read reviews... "

Was a bit worried when i read reviews about Oro Blanco. However our experience of our stay there was positive. As a group of 3 we paid £710 for our holiday and we got what we paid for. Room was very clean as was bathroom. Pool area was pleasant although i think if hotel was full it might be a little crowded. Staff were pleasant and generally helpful. We were happy to have a fairly cheap week away in the sun. Oro Blanco is not top luxury but it is adequate in all major repects. Overall very satisfied.

" 19th March 2008....

19th March 2008....

Having read the various reviews I would like to add

FORS- check in smooth, reception clean and tidy, room clean and tidy, no damaged furniture, no cock roaches, clean pool area, mostly friendly staff(allways the odd grumpy one, easy access to restuarants and town. Excellent view from our front facing apartment over looking the golf course with excellent sun rise. Plenty of hot water, good maid service, Hallways clean and tidy.

AGAINST - room overlooking the front and golf course = A very busy noisy road(one of the main roads into P DL americas), road works out front started very early, jack hammers etc basic cooking facilities. Noisy guests late afternoon early eveing and early morning2-5am, lots of shouting ,swearing at people in the street etc mostly from the lads on holiday crowds. sadly as well a few foul mouth girls at 4 ish in the morning.

SUMMARY... A clean and tidy hotel with some noisy guests (vocal) on a busy road BUT LETS BE HONEST WHAT DO YOU EXPECT WHEN BOOKING 2 STAR SELF CATERING ACCOMODATION AT THE BOTTOM END OF THE MARKET.

" Well. What can i say? Some very mixed... "

Well. What can i say? Some very mixed reviews! I stayed here with 2 of my friends and we had nothing to complain about! Apartment was clean and tidy for us, cleaners done a good job, although the towels did have a funny pong to them! Only thing we had to change was sleeping arrangements, there were2beds in the bedroom and a pull out in the kitchen area so we dragged the mattress in to room and one of the girls slept pretty much on the floor! Didnt find one cockroach!!! Thank goodness, would have been out like a shot! Didnt notice muggers lane, obviously too tipsy when walking past!! The majority of the staff were friendly, (a couple of grumpy ones), one of the spanish reception men was brilliant and loved it when we came tiptoeing in in the early hours of the morning, think only our lastnight we made a bit too much noise but did not get shouted at. Think the security guard appreciated me taking my boots off before coming in so I didnt make too much noise!!!! He was grumpy but we just didn't give him anything to bad to get annoyed about!!
There are LOADS of places to eat, tried a different place everynight! Nice cheap food. Drinking wasnt that expensive if you made sure you got a PR to take you in, the best deal was for club Rags, 10 euros for 4 vodka and lemonades each, 2 shots each and a jug of cocktail to share!!!! Cant beat that!!!!
The Thomas Cook reps were lovely! And the bar crawl on our last night was amazing! They made sure we had plenty to drink!!! Apartments are ten min walk to main nightlife, although walking back at night up the hill always proved a challenge!!!!
Brannigans and Linekars were our fav places to go, b's because of fit barman and funny dj and linekars because of the novelty of dancing on the chairs!! lol!!
I had an amazing holiday and will definitely be going back next year! And yes, to the same apartments!!!

" hideous noise till 1-2am & later,... "

hideous noise till 1-2am & later, disinterested staff, & COCKROACHES!

my first time in Tenerife, absolutely beautiful island, I loved it ... but the accommodation was an absolute disgrace

the apartment itself was basic but pleasant-looking, & fine as far as it's facilities were concerned, but cockroaches??? NO NO NO, totally unacceptable
thank goodness we mostly ate out & had no more than cornflakes & snacks in the apartment or we'd have been overrun with the things
if we as much dropped a potato crisp on the floor, they were out eating them!!!

also ignorant & inconsiderate adults playing loud music & shouting/'singing' on balconies (against hotel rules) ... but in particular children (8-ish - 15-ish) unsupervised, running riot, screaming, shouting till the early hours of the morning

you get leaflets through your door telling you that as a result of customer complaints, noise must be kept to a minimum, particularly after midnight & that security will eject anyone breaking those rules
in reality, security & hotel staff shrug their shoulders & do nothing, they couldn't care less

the bar (allegedly) 8am - midnight operates in it's own time zone, depending on how drunk the bar staff are, they close up whenever they feel like it & are completely unapologetic

I met several other guests who were equally unhappy, & this morning as I checked out, another person was complaining at reception about slamming doors, shouting & screaming in the early hours

I've stayed in 2 star hotels in Africa with better facilities, more caring & pleasant staff & NO cockroaches ... I can only imagine the positive reviews have been written by 'interested' parties ... avoid this place at all costs

" whilst on holiday with my partner we... "

whilst on holiday with my partner we enjoyed a weeks holiday staying here, the road outside is a bit of a nightmare at night scooters passing every 5 min beeping there horns, also when people are comin in in the early hours the noise echos right up the buldings, i was on the 6th floor and the rooms were reasonable basic, no cockroaches seen all week apart from poolside where i saw 1, the staff in the pool bar are very nice and the receptionist is a good laugh, if you travel with my travel or the other tour operators with themyou should meet christie and kelly they will look after you on your stay, night life is also good around the hotel although NEVER use the lane behind the hotel as it is called MUGGERS LANE and at night its full of prostitutes who more or less offer it for free, you dont get nothing for nothing, all in all i had a great holiday and i hopefully will return 1 day

No need to be at all got there fine checked in straight away nothing wrong with the apartment at all it was very clean NO COCKROACHES seen all week...staff were extremely welcoming and friendly the little spanish dude that works on reception is ace sooo funni. Pool area nice and clean, there are 2 things i would change about the place and 1 is the security guard wat a miserable man he is stood outside our room for ages shouting at us and we did nothing wrong at all hadnt even been drinking and it was only 11 at night(scary man). other thing is it is on a road and can get noisey at night ecpecialy the mopeds(chicken chasers). playa de las americas it self is a great plave your not too far from everything but dont get all the noise form people going out either. Go to the royal oak great place and the dj is a funni guy( big shout out to dj frankie) and the dude on the door. only got back last week and miss the place alredi honestly dont be put off by these reviews because the place is great

" When we arrived the reception staff... "

When we arrived the reception staff were all really friendly and were either English or if Spanish, they all spoke good English and were helpful.

The room was basic but clean (and did not stink of bleach). All the dishes were clean, floors inside and on patio were clean, bathroom clean etc. We didn't have any cockroach issues whilst there either.

The pools were very good and was fully staffed with lifeguards. There is a massive range of reasonably priced restaurants in the resort.

All in all we had a good time at the Oro Blanco, obviously it has not satisfied everyone judging by previous comments but we found it to be a friendly and relaxing place.

" Firstly, our plane was so cramped and... "

Firstly, our plane was so cramped and was making funny noises like it was going to break down.
After the horror of the plane journey, we finally arrived at our apartment. We was greeted by the moodiest person you'll ever meet. When we got to our rooms they were infested with cockroaches, and my bed had toothpicks stuck in the mattress.

However, the cleaner did come in about 4 times in the week we stayed there. The security guard came in at about 6 in the morning, claiming we had loud music on, and demanded 50 euros each. We explained to him we couldn't have music on because we never had a hi-fi! We told him where to go, he got a bit emotional, but then eventually left.

However, the best part of the hotel was the popular adult gay scene and there was a lot of freindly people to party with. This was at times inconvenient due to having children who may have seen the atmosphere as offensive.

The resort itself was lovely, apart from the chinese restaurants, which short changed me and refused to give me my correct change. Not to mention their food which made me feel ill. I got my moneys worth though as I kept their menu and took their salt and pepper. Stay in room 507, you'll get a free menu, salt and pepper and free sky tv!

Overall, the holiday was a success as I met a nice guy, and we had a great time.

Thanks for listening to my views as the hotel didn't.

" The apartments are quite clean and... "

The apartments are quite clean and basic, you are approx 10 mins walk from the beach. However outside the apartments is the worst road in Tenerife, the noise is constant all through the night. We had to close the balcony doors at night just to try to get to sleep.

Please do not go to this hotel with young children, our four years old couldn’t get to sleep because of the road noise. The hospital is just around the corner as well.

A lot of guests are young and out to party and return around 3am or so, and that was in October! So I don’t know what the summer season would be like. On a positive note the staff are friendly and the weather was great.

Eating out can be hit and miss. If you go to Tenerife a must is loro park, fantastic, a great day out and you are collected at the front of the hotel. We would return to Tenerife but not to this hotel.

" I stayed at Oro Blanco for 7 nights... "

I stayed at Oro Blanco for 7 nights in August 2007 and had a fantastic holiday! I honestly could not complain about anything! The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. We did not have any problems with cockroaches. Every morning we returned from breakfast the maid had been and left new towels etc and made the beds.

It was the perfect location for the bars and night clubs... Veronicas strip and the beach was only a few minutes walk away. It really was a brilliant holiday and I am planning to return to Las Americas... and to Oro Blanco of course!!
