We joined a holiday club, Access 2 Leisure in 2007 after viewing the show room at the Preluna hotel and being told that all accomadation at the Preluna for club members was of the same high standard and with the same sea views. We returned in Oct 2008 and were taken to a... more

Big hotel, right on the sea front. Our 'superior', sea view room was roomy and very clean. However the carpet was stained and rough round the edges and the failry newly painted ceiling was only re-painted up to about 3 inches from the edges! Strange stuff hanging out of... more

Purports to be a 4* spa hotel. In fact, it is a low-budget hotel, catering for tour groups. The only thing which is 4* is the price!! The breakfast was cheap and inferior, as per catering for mass tourism. The fruit juice is powdered and watered down and served from a... more

This was advertised as 4 star, it did seem to be more like a 3 star. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. I booked on an all inclusive basis and found that the snacks, drinks etc on the all inclusive menu only made up a small proportion of the full menus. The drinks... more

A lovely hotel, not quite 4 star, but lovely. We was lucky enough to get a seaview room (we never pay for this - just ask sweetly!) and the views were lovely. The rooms were spacious and felt light and airey. The food was also very nice and was a buffet, so the missus... more

My sister and I have just returned from a lovely four night break to Sliema, Malta. We stayed in the four stars Preluna Hotel and Spa. It was right on the coastal promenade, and five minutes’ walk away from the supermarket and shops. We had good service from the hotel... more

The hotel stands on the main road across the road from the sea and is on the flat, no hills anywhere near. I suffer from a heart complaint and found Malta wonderful and flat for walking. From the Preluna I walked miles from Sliema to St Pauls bay, stopping when needed for a... more

A very enjoyable week in Malta
I spend a week at the Preluna Hotel and Spa in Sliema this April. The location of the hotel is very central and opposite a beautiful promenade and close to shops, restaurants and most importantly the sea. All the staff were quite helpful and friendly. John at reception and Juliana the guest relations officer were particularly keen to please and quite an assett for the hotel. Our room enjoyed beautiful seaviews and was kept very clean. It included all the necessary facilities and appreciated the coffee and tea facilities in the room. The main dining room offered a varied buffet and although very busy was well organised with vast array of food. A lounge bar is located on the 13th floor with spectacular views of the island which we did visit in the evening for a drink listening to soft music. We also found time to visit the spa which we really enjoyed. I would recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to be in the centre of things and travelling to valletta or st.Julian;s is easy since a bus stop is only a few meters away from the hotel.
Feel special at the Preluna
We stayed at the Preluna for one week and wish we'd booked for longer. Our room had a fantastic view of the Mediterranean. We could even see the entrance to the Grand Harbour. All the staff were so helpful & friendly too. We made full use of the facilities when we were not out exploring the island, pool, restaurants, cafe and especially the SKY ROOM. It's on the 13th Floor, with huge windows all around offering magnificent views of the island. It is just as spectacular at night, seeing everywhere lit up with bright lights glistening on the bay. The sky room is the perfect place to watch the sun go down over a cocktail. We also purchased the hotel's wedding package & couldn't have asked for more. 'Transport to & from the hotel/wedding venue' translates to matching black Mercedes with white bows on the front. Staff bent over backwards to ensure that it really was a special day for us. THANK YOU PRELUNA.
not 4 star
We have just returned from a 5 day break at the Preluna. First impressions were that the outside was quite run down although the inside of the hotel was much better. Clean and reasonably newly refurbished. We were put in a room on the 2nd floor with a sea view. I had paid extra for this as a sea view room is classed as superior. What they don't tell you is that in between the hotel and the sea is a very busy main road. However, the room was newly decorated and had new carpet and soft furnishings. We thought it would be much quieter at night so decided to keep the room in spite of the noise but well in to the early hours the noise was horrendous, constant traffic and hooters prevented us from getting hardly any sleep. In the morning the building work started just after 7am!! I requested a room change to a quiet part of the hotel and was given another room without question or argument to the fourth floor at the back of the hotel. This room was much quieter at night although still noisy but not as much!! If the rooms were double glazed I'm sure most of the problems with noise would be rectified. We were staying on a B&B basis and breakfast in the Triton restaurant was very nice with a good range of food. Clean and well managed. The spa was disappointing. Not up to normal hygiene standards and was very expensive for what it was, the pool and gym were ok. The outdoor swimming pool was over the road and not suitable for small children. This hotel is not a 4* as advertised and I would definately not return there again.
Good people good food but will not return
Situated on the main road unsuitable for children Btween towers and the hotel huge building work early morning noise What passes for entertaintment you would get in UK pub My wife and I are 60 it was to quiet for us
Preluna - Good basic hotel
Stayed at the Preluna Hotel & Towers for one night in April and thought of the hotel as a good basic tourist class hotel, but with missing charm and personality. The one good thing, though, is the view. We were lucky enough to stay on the 9th floor, on what they call Executive Floor, and the rooms are OK clean with the expected facilities. Had dinner at the restaurant which also was basic and cheap, only ML4.99. But we think the room rate is a bit pricey for what you get, compared to other 4* hotels in Europe, but unfortunately Malta is known for this. Will recommend this hotel as it is a good honest hotel, but if you are looking for something special for the price in Malta or Gozo, you should go for a farmhouse.
Great location, so-so hotel
We stayed at the Preluna Hotel for 6 weeks in January/February and, being used to Las Vegas hotels, I would not say that this is a 4 star hotel. We were on a half board basis so had a buffet breakfast and dinner in the hotel. The food was excellent with a varied choice of evening meal but after about a month we got a bit fed up with the same menu on certain nights, such as "the Malta Night". We had a room at the front with a superb view of the sea and were able to sit out on the balcony in the mornings to enjoy the sun. However, the noise, day and night, was unbelievable. Between the bulilding work next door, which starts about 7.30am, the boy racers at night and the rest of the drivers all day and night who use their horns more than they use their indicators, I wish I had taken some ear plugs. The room itself was quite dated and could have done with being refurbished. In the room is a safe, for which there is an additional charge of about £1 per day, but it is quite small (not big enough for a laptop). It has 3 combination dials which we found very stiff but we would recommend that you use it as we had a small brooch stolen from our room. The state that there is satellite television in the room but this is limited to BBC World, BBC Prime, CNN and Sky Sports 2 (when they work. quite often they would not work for hours or even days). Also the televisions are 14' portables. Finally, there is an internet cafe in the hotel but it is expensive and the computers/connection wern't up to much. I would suggest you go to the Cybercafe near the ferries. We will be going back to Malta next year but do not know whether we will be staying at this hotel. Depends if we can get a better deal elsewhere.
Ok but don't expect too much
We were initially disappointed - expecting a 4* hotel until we realised that all of Malta's hotels are over-rated. I would say this one was around 2/3* when compared to a UK hotel. Our room was clean but out-dated and looked out over nothing worth looking at! We didn't eat in the hotel (except breakfast) which was OK but nothing at all special. Very good reception staff and well located. We would look for an alternative next time
Seen better days, but helpful staff
We visited the Preluna in May 2004. The location is good, on the sea front and within walking distance of Sliema harbour. Buses to and from Valetta stop outside and are frequent, cheap and are "collectors items". It is also pleasant and comfortable to walk in the opposite direction towards St Julians We used the hotel on the recomendation of a friend who had visited it several times but some time ago. The main part is now in need of some serious refurbishment, be wary of rooms at the back of this part of hotel they look down on a scruffy street and on the lower floors are more like dungeons, they can also smell of the kitchen, the rooms in the centre core on each floor seemed to have no windows at all. We were initially given a back room on the second floor but firmlly refused it and ended up on the tenth floor at the front which was very pleasant if a little worn. There was building work going on between the main building and the Towers. The dining room and food were reasonable and the staff throughout the hotel mostly helpful and friendly. Entertainment was virtually nil but we had great fun in the dance bar attached to the hotel joining in with a few of the local population who used it almost as their local social meeting place. The indoor pool is small and was little used, the outdoor pool is across the busy main road, it is good, clean and well equiped with loungers and shades. Finally the penthouse with bar is very nice and offers great views day or night
Chilly Malta
The Pre-luna and Towers is a friendly Hotel with a hardworking staff. BUT ,Oh, the dining room! The food served is excellent but the canteen/self service takes some getting used to. In January when I visited many of the guests are elderly and quite a few infirm. The sight of dozens of the elderly shuffling around the dining room, searching for food/spoons/cups ect was not a life enhancing one,BUT as I will reiterate, the food served was uniformly very good. The lounge/reading area by the lobby is badly in need of some enhanced lighting. Reading a book is only possible in selected chairs and these can be swifly taken up by the more sedentary residents, who tend to congregate there. It was I am told an exceptionaly cold January and at times my room (facing the sea on the 2nd floor) was quite cold. I never did understand the heating system, but as I didn't complain at the time, possibly if I had done so, the management would have done something about it. The outside construction work doesn't really intrude and the rennovating of rooms on the 2nd floor did not start until 8 a.m. by which time I was awake. If one was accostomed to sleeping through until - say 9.a.m. ithe rennovating could have been a problem. The rooms were comfortable and the bathroom shower simple and effective. The T/v worked (including Sky 1) most of the time, but the wireless was dead (no problem as I had brought my own) The bus service to Valletta from just outside the Hotel is freqent and efficient We both enjoyed our stay at the Hotel and the criticisms that I am high lighting are minor. I would certainly stay there again. I MUST make mention of the Hotel's information Officer 'Julianna' who has a desk in the lobby and will answer all questions. She's a real gem, with a big smile for all, a great sense of humour and full of information. When we left at some unearthy hour of the morning, the desk clerk made us coffee and biscuits and came up personnally to our room to deliver the coffee and to take our luggage. He insisted and I was most impressed by his manner and dedication. Well done to the desk crew and to all the staff in general. Alastair Craig Folkestone Kent.
