Ta' Cenc

We chose to return to Ta'Cenc after previous visits and were given a free room upgrade which was superb. At the time of our stay some refurbishment work was in progress. However the work was completely inobtrusive with almost no inconvenience, the workforce were very polite, start and finish times were acceptable and guests were accomodated in rooms furthest away from the work (our room was the closest). Staff at the hotel were marvellous, nothing was too much trouble. On the whole a perfect place for a totally relaxing holiday

If you like old mouldy rooms and a management that treat you like mugs go here. They put you in a bad room then see if you complain. They upgrade you to a fairly bad room etc etc GIVE THIS PLACE A MISS IT IS A DUMP. The owner is too concerned with getting planning permission for his golf course to give a monkeys about his guests. The Salvation Army has better Hotels!

We went to Gozo for our honeymoon....
7 / 10
Jun 2008, Mrs A Tedford

We went to Gozo for our honeymoon. We had 7 nights in a farmhouse with our own pool and 3 nights in Ta cenc.
We were amazed when we got to our villa, it was gorgeous and huge! As we were self catering and not getting in until late we asked for a welcome pack - very disappointing. Tea, coffee, loaf of bread, pack of cheese slices and a refilled bottle of water!
Gozo is lovely, but there is very little to do. We went somewhere expecting it to take us half the day, we were in and out in 20 mins. Without our private pool we'd have been lost.
A trip to Comino is a must, as is Gozo Glass - amazing! Food wise, Brookies was really good, as was the restaurant a few hundred yards down the road with the roof terrace, gorgeous food. Josephs was disappointing.
We were half board at Ta cenc and the breakfast was delicious, so much fresh fruit. We had a magical evening one night, soft music, gorgeous food. The staff were really friendly and stopped us from very nearly getting locked out of our room (prop the back door open!!)
Overall, we had a really nice time. Ta Cenc was beautiful, however, it is 5 star, so you do expect luxury (which you get!)
If you like to lie in the sun, with a book and take it easy for a week, Gozo is the place for you, however, if like us, you'd like a bit more to do a couple of days to visit Gozo might be better.

We went to Gozo with one real purpose...

We went to Gozo with one real purpose – to get married. There were 34 of us in all, mostly staying in various parts of Gozo, whilst other stayed in Malta. The Hotel Ta Cenc was where we stayed, and where we got married. It was a beautiful location, with fantastic flowers and scenery. The hotel itself was classy, but could do with a revamp, a lick of paint here and there could do wonders. For our first week, we stayed in a family room, which had seen better days. For the second week, with the 3 children flying home with grandparents, we were in a suite, which was much nicer.
Although classed as a hotel, each room is more of an apartment, with your own little sun bathing area.
The downsides of the whole experience were few, but I’ll list them. There is nothing to do as a family – the island is so quiet and laid back it’s untrue – a trip to Malta to keep any little ones happy is imperative.
As mentioned, the hotel could do with a revamp, as for a 5* it is looking a little tatty round the edges.
The good points however, outweigh the negatives. If you want somewhere peaceful, relaxed, and beautiful, Gozo is the place to be. The local people bend over backwards to help, and the Ta Cenc staff were superb, with nothing too much trouble. The food was gorgeous, and not too pricey, and the whole experience for us was magical.
We intend to go again, in a few years time, as we made numerous friends, and fell in love wit the whole place.
Would recommend…
