Club Alvor Golf

I booked this hotel with a friend to stay for a week.............. well we didnt even stop for a night. Upon arrival check in was good, staff on reception were very nice and helpful, but looking around the hotel, nothing was open, there was no bar (well a made up one behind the reception) and the pool was disgusting. It didnt get any better when we entered our room, while they are huge rooms and have the potential to be fantastic apartments they are in desperate need of a refurb. We booked for this hotel in December 2008 to arrive 01/04/2009. The hotel was closed. We were left in Portugal with no accommodation. On reading reviews this has happened before! So why are companies still booking people into a closed hotel. They had plenty of time to let us know that it was not open!!!

too far out of town-= very bad

we arrived very tired after a delay at the airport. The clerk told us our room number and left us to find it. The lifts were full of grafitti and peeling paint it didnt bode well. The room was very large but very dated. Some of the floor tiles were loose and the kitchen dirty. I wouldnt have attempted a drink or something to eat. The microwave door was melted and we were assured it still worked.(needless to say didnt try it) Did not unpack as we knew we wouldnt be staying. We have just returned from a trip to Alvor. We stayed at the Clube Alvor Golf apartments. We had already read the reviews, but we were on a tight budget and wanted to get away. When we arrived at the apartments, they did not have a note of our booking, however, within 10 minutes of getting there, they had sorted us out a room, even though it was only 10 in the morning. Algarve portugal Apartments Club Alvor Golf Date 22-5-2008 29-5-2008 Stayed at the above named apatments for one week i consider them to be very shabby and very basic a lot of rust on the balony and broken tiles around the pool area there was no fire blanket in the cover that was on the kitchen wall also the fridge was very old and just about worked and the bath was very badly stained with alot of cracks in the tiles also they did'nt change our sheets all week and we would not want to cook as the cooker was very old and... more

I'm not sure whose fault this was (hotel or website we booked it through) but when we arrived at this hotel at 7pm in the evening it was totally deserted. Not one light on in the whole building, the reception desk and furniture covered by sheets and of course the building locked. It was October and I went to the next door hotel and asked if they knew what time the Club Golf Alvor opening - and they said April next year!!! On arriving found the apartment to be very clean & spacious,though in need of a little modifying as the decor had seen better days.Unfortunately we found our balcony to be overlooking,what i can only call a chicken farm.Hence every morning at 4am & throughout the day we had the misfortune to hear the cockerels crowing.The farm also had a speaking parrot on their porch;& although it sounded quite humourous at times,the novelty of a portugese speaking parrot began to wear thin after a time.The bar was never open during our weeks stay & drinks... more

We stayed here for a short break in June 2006. These apartments are situated about 15-20 minutes walk from Alvor town with all its winding narrow streets, shops, great bars and restaurants. There are pavements all the way into town - go down the road where there is a no entry sign for vehicles as this makes the walk shorter than following the road round. The beach is over half an hours walk but there is lots of parking available here or the hotel has a bus 3 times a day from Mon-Sat. There is a small but quite deep swiming pool in front of... more
