My wife and I spent a glorious 4 days in the city of Prague last March.
The moment we arrived we headed straight for Cedaz who are the transportation company which takes you in a 12- seater mini coach to your downtown hotel for approx. £8 single. We were booked into the 2-3 star Hotel Ariston , which was situated only 3 tram stops from the City Centre.
Our room was simply furnished, spotlessly clean and the continental breakfast was enough to tide me over until late afternoon !! Once we got our bearings we got a street map and walked around the various tourist attractions, the Jewish Quarter, the Palace, the Old Town Square itself, Wenceslas Square, Charles Bridge with its artists, street vendors and even a very good jazz band on the bridge !!! The bridge does get a bit crowded so it’s best to go early in the morning or later at night......
There were classical concerts every day in some of the most beautiful churches you will ever see. Eating out was fun !!.... we tried the potato dumplings, cheese dumplings and hearty "peasant style " stews, also however, there are a vast range of European restaurants which cater for your every need, and, not my cup of tea, but there were fast food places if you fancied a quick snack on the move !!!
All in all, we didn’t have enough time to explore this fascinating City, which just left us wanting to come home and book another 4 days. It is getting very popular with stag and hen parties, but I must say everyone behaved impeccably despite lager being only 60p a pint in most beer halls !!
My advice is go there, experience Eastern Europe for yourself...... you will not be disappointed !!
