Wonderful, wonderful resort. The hotel is split into self-contained appartments or the hotel it’s self. You choose from full board, B&B, self-catering, half board. The choice is yours.
Family entertainment every night, scrumptious continental or full English. we opted for the B&B option, self-catering apartment. no TV, but who needs TV in Corfu(for those who can’t do without sky the bar provides coverage)medium sized pool, good layout as there is a good shaded area. All ensuite, cleaned daily, air conditioning only available during the night to be paid for separately. very basic rooms, beds, ensuite, cooking facilities, fridge, balcony (shaded). would recommend ideally for families. as a couple we without children, it is somewhere I would suggest to friends with.
Situated on the main road leading to Corfu, but set back in it’s own grounds it is safe & secure, very friendly staff, family run, always try there utmost to cater for your whims.
As for the tour operator, not so good. hardly came to the hotel, so booking daytrips was better served going into road itself of which I would recommend any of the tour operators if you are looking for any kind of outing on the island. for those seeking further afield go for the trip to Albania, the mainland, or island hopping. again something for everyone.
Best entertainer is a singer/guitarist Darren May. situated in various outlets but mainly roda hotel inn(fabulous medium priced food, very varied menu) opposite the beach, anything from the Beatles, squeeze, etc. Shout one out and he will have a go. even those little sung Elvis songs.
Best bar by far is he harbour bar, situated slap bang on the beach.(tip is to hire your sunbeds from here as they are the cheapest in roda).they adore kids, family run. see all the latest films here if you want a quiet day. never hassled to buy another drink, it lasts as long as you want. superb range of cocktails, all age’s welcome, superb lunch menu. one of the cheaper places to drink. extremely friendly staff, love discussing football(check out the football shirts on display)you will never be ripped off here. you have to watch the sunset from the bar, spectacular and look across to the eerie sight of the Albanian mountains. what more can I say I loved this place
Buses can be erratic. always check the destination clearly, and last buses back to the resort. Another tip is to book to go to Corfu town via an operator, as it’s cheaper and you can go earlier and come back later than the bus. taxis are your best bet on a Sunday.
For eats you are spoilt for choice. Compass the Italian situated at the crossroads is outstanding, varied menu, medium priced, and superb service. for Greek dishes basically anyone of the local restaurants. good range for veggies(which I am and even I had no problems whatsoever) and for all those who can’t do without their steak and chips you can’t be better placed. for two weeks you could go to a different establishment each night.
For the drinkers out there again spoilt for choice. the English bars to tend to be bit pricier, but again, good food and entertainment at some ranges from quiz night with proper prizes(late start) to karaoke’s again just walk around along the beach front and down the side streets. you will find something that suits whether it be quiet or lively, again your choice.
The beach is narrow but very sandy. the sea is lukewarm, clear and great for swimming, diving, water sports etc. Recommend Sam’s boat hire. the prices are the cheapest, and he if favoured by the locals as they trust him more than anyone else there about the safety of sailing. if he says no you don’t go, and he’s never wrong.
Cash point situated in the walk towards the beach so you won’t have to go to Corfu town. lent of shops, cheaper than Corfu town and the staff let you wander at your leisure, never pushy, helpful better than Corfu town as you can feel pressurised and the items tend to be dearer.
Highly recommend roda for those who have never been to Corfu before. still retains an air of the old fishing town it used to be, swell as being packed with all your, holiday needs. lively of an evening, but never any trouble, very friendly place, ideal for just about everyone. another tip is try to learn least please, thank you hello and goodbye. You will find everyone speaks English, but they genuinely appreciate a little effort with those words above. not much to ask is it., especially when all menus signs, leaflets etc are in English.
What else can I say, I can’t recommend the place enough. beautiful, spectacular views, friendly staff, locals, Lots to do, or not again your choice. so when I win the lottery you know where I’ll be.
