Silverton Hotel & Casino

My wife and I have stayed in the heart of the strip many times so this time we tried the Silverton to see if we would like the "off strip feel". We defintely did. The casino and our room were pleaseantly decorated. The room seemed a little larger than typical mid level hotel rooms. It had good quality furnishings and comfortable beds.The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Food in the coffee shop and buffet was certainly good enough (and less expensive than on the strip). First of all if you're looking for the glitz and glamour of the strip you might want to look somewhere else. Simply put, the property is older but quiet and comfortable. One thing that did stand out was everyone associated with the Silverton was friendly and helpful. I'm sure they have to be to to compete with the more modern establishments. We stayed here during our trip to see the Mariners play the Cubs during spring training. They split one to one by the way. Right away while checking in the employees at the registration desk had a attitude and acted like they were doing me a favor by checking us in. When I asked about the shuttle to the strip, I was told they no longer had shuttle service and I would have to use a taxi. The reason we decided on this hotel was the shuttle since my family would have the car. Again I got the attitude! The housekeeping service leaves a lot to be desired also. My husband & I found ourselves needing a room in Las Vegas during the March Madness Weekend and we could not find anything available! But I called the Silverton and they got us in at a GREAT price - at LEAST $50 less than all equivalent casinos. The rooms were nice and the beds were very comfortable. The clientele wasn't the crazy, partying Las Vegas Strip crowd, so my husband and I found that refreshing! We ate at Twin Creeks, the steakhouse in the hotel and I HIGHLY recommend it. we spent 4 nights at the silverton feb 23- feb 28. the service was great from the time we checked in. I told the front desk that we would need a small refrigerator for medication, and the woman immediately said she would take care of it. (It arrived at our room 5 minutes after we did) The beds are great.....pillowtop matresses and feather pillows! they were sooo comfortable!!!!! I stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday. My rate was good ($89), however, the overall stay did not make a lasting impression. Basically it was ordinary. I won't be coming back again.

We were initially impressed with this hotel's wilderness lodge decor at only $40/night . Affordable and welcoming! There was ample parking and even a back parking lot that is close to the hotel's elevator so you don't have to drag your luggage through the casino! We stayed at the Silverton 11/13 - 11/16. Our rate was $50 per night. Check-in took about 4 minutes. Our room was on the ground floor, but didn't smell smokey at all. The room was very quiet, clean and up to date. The TV, AC, blow dryer, etc. worked great. The beds were a little on the firm side, which was good for us. They provided plenty of towels, although they might want to throw in a little fabric softener once in awhile. We ate breakfast twice in the cafe and it was okay. I picked the Silverton because of what I read here. However, I must say that I didn't find my stay to enjoyable. It took me over 30 minutes to check in, my room was screwed up and it wasn't that nice. It's a redesigned motel probably 10 years old. I could of stayed on the strip for the same price on expedia and I would recoomend that to anyone who is reading this.

We've been to Las Vegas about 20 times and each time we have a "base" hotel for part to fhe stay and always try to find some where new to try. This time it was the Silverton. It is about 5 milese south of the strip. We always have a car, which is cheaper than cabs, so getting around is not a problem. We tried this hotel, because of the Bass Pro Shop that is attached.
