We (me, partner and 13 year old son) stayed at the Palace Station (booked with lastminute) just before Christmas 2006. Flew in with Virgin (booked direct online - they are one of only a few they fly direct from UK).

It may not be one of the more famous hotels, but it is nonetheless a great place to stay in. We paid 45 dollars for a room with a queen size bed, huge seating area and a great view over the strip. 4 - 5 restaurants.
