I have just returned from this amazing resort with 17 family and friends and nothing but fantastic comments were to be heard by all. We are all looking into returning next year in fact!
To be honest, I read a few reports before we left and there was a mixed bag of comments, some of which said that there was glass on the beach, I dont see how this could have been so as glasses were not allowed here plastic cups were given from the bar, and we actually looked out for this and found no glass!
With regards to food - there was sooooooooooo much choice every single day, morning, lunchtime and evening, to suit everybody not just 'meat eaters' fresh fish, seafood, salads and pasta were always available.
The swimming pool is huge and very clean, they also provide entertainment around the pool for the young and the older throughout the whole day.
We actually got married here and the wedding co-ordinator was brilliant, so professional and arranged everything exactly how we asked her to.
The staff throughout the whole complex were so friendly and helpful and they could not do anymore for us, the maid left gifts on the bed every morning and the rooms were 'spotless' they also change the sheets and towels everyday.
The entertainment every evening was amazing - there was a mini disco for the little ones then a pianist and opera singer in the lobby until 7:30 then entertainment in the theatre was great, ballet, dancing, singing - something for everybody and Very Professional and Talented performers.
First Choice were great to travel with, we upgraded but my parents didnt and we sat with them for a while and we didnt need to bother, they had roomy seats and were quite happy with them.
Overall, this hotel does deserve the 5* rating that it comes with, we will definately go back, it was the best holiday we have all been on so far, and we have been on many, and 17 people cant all be wrong!

What can I say.... but FANTASTIC.
Upgraded the room to Superior and upgraded the flight to Star Class Premier Class and well worth the extra money, though the room would have been adequate at standard prices.
The complex is very large and you feel as though there are not many people around you at all times.
Food in the buffet was excellent as long as you are grown up about it all and accept that you are abroad...in fact we found it better than expected.
The A La Carte restaurants were all very good, but we cannot comment upon the Asian as we were told that it was a bit boring and to avoid it..so we did. The Grill, Romantico. Seafood and the Italian were fabulous.
My husband celebrated his birthday in the Grill and all the staff came out with a birthday cake with candle and sang Happy Birthday which was a lovely touch.
The pools are enormous and not over crowded and the beach was fabulously clean with crystal clear waters to die for.
Great 24 hour all inclusive service, which even included a trolley service, serving drinks/ soft drinks around the pools several times a day.
People so very friendly, the hotel staff and the local Cubans.
Cannot fault the complex, beach or staff in any way.

We have just returned from what can only be described as our best holiday to date. The Cuban people are so friendly and the hotel is worthy of its 4plus star rating. An immense hotel but no matter what time you arrived at the pool or beach u can virtually guarrantee a lounger. The beach and pools are massive so if its too noisy one end just move to the other. The food was as good as most hotels of this calibre in the carabean, although a wide choice it could become repetitive, however, with 6 Al a carte restaurants as well there certainly is variety. I would highly recomend the Romantica and le Gondola restaurants. Absolutely lovely meals.
I felt the entertainement was a low point but there again we didn't go to sit and watch this and made plenty of friends who in turn kept us all occupied.
You will never find the perfect holiday, but, we felt we came close with this one. The staff are so obliging and on the whole the spectrum of guests that were there were neither lager louts nor people who thought they were better than anyone else. It was middle of the road .It was comfortable.
It was that enjoyable we have already booked up to go back next year, but with a different tour operator.
ONE WORD OF WARNING......... Don't fly with Thomaas Cook. Unless you want the longest most uncomfortablist flight home. You fly from Holguin onto Varadero. We then sat on the runway for 3 hours untill passengers had dissembarked and new passengers boarded. We had a 1 1/2hour wait for our luggage at Gatwick. It took 24hours from leaving the hotel till we got home and we only live 2hrs from the airport.

Just back from this hotel..food in the buffet was not particularly inspiring but the speciality restaurants were very good. We went on the Holguin trip which was very interesting and also the Island Paradise trip. This would have been perfect and indeed paradise, but was spoilt by loud, crude Canadians which, apparently frequent Cuba at this time of year. We found the hotel good although not a five star; more like a four star. The pool was great for kids, lots of shallow areas, umbrellas etc and the beach was lovely. Maid service every day although the rooms could have been cleaner. The only downside was the fact that due to being all inclusive, some people use this opportunity to drink themselves into oblivion by lunchtime.

Our Flight with first choice was excellent, we did not upgrade as there is no need to!
The hotel was very quick with check in, a buggy took us to our rooms and the room was very large with seperate sitting area! and we did not upgrade room.
The pool is huge plenty of sun loungers, But if you do not have kids do not sit there as there are lots of them! The beach would be better for you!
The beach is lovely but get there early!
The Food! it is a bit cold sometimes, but you can get it cooked as you wait.
Overall it was a good holiday....just a few chavs that like to get pissed up everyday.
I would rate this hotel as more a 3+ rather than 4+ as it states.

We went in a group of people from 80s to 17.I cant fault this hotel, there is enough food for everyone inc vegetarians. Check in was quick the rooms are lovely and the people are smilers. The romantico is the best restaurant and i'd advise you go and book your a la carte straight away as they book up fast. Having said that if you go to a restaurant and they can get a table for you they will. This place is abundant in lobster and shrimps they are on every menu and in the buffets, you'll be impressed if you like fish. Any tips are really appreciated and we took a horse and cart out to local farmers houses and took clothes /toiletries/colouring books /pencils/and make up. Swimming with the dolphins is a trip i'll never forget and would encourage anyone thinking about it to go ahead and book the trip as you wont regret it. I love this place and its people .....they are such an inspiration going about their day smiling and happy even though life for them is a million miles away from that of its visitors. I would like to think it teaches us all a lesson of how lucky we are and not to nick pick at what for them is paradise. If you admire che guevara his image is everywhere along with fidel and there are masses of gifts / crafts to buy. Now to be a hypocrite and have my only moan, I wouldnt book with thomas cook again as they use one plane to do drop offs and pick ups on either side of the island which is the biggest pain ever and adds 3 hours to the journey !!!!

Although this hotel was brilliant and I would definitely go back, this hotel is not as good for vegetarians as some of the earlier reviews suggest. There are no vegetarians in Cuba so they don't understand the concept. Although you will be told that something is vegetarian sometimes they are not. On one of the trips we went on I was given Rice and Beans and it had a piece of meat in it so I was given pasta instead.
Breakfast is very good and there is plenty of choice but if you want an omelette it will be cooked in the same pan as everyone else's.
Lunch is also very good as long as you visit the Grill or the seafood restaurant. I found in the Buffet restaurants that even the salads had either ham or tuna mixed in with them and there wasn't much choice.
For Dinner, the only restaurants that had a vegetarian option for the main course was the vegetarian and the Chinese restaurant. You can't visit the vegetarian restaurant every night, firstly because it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and secondly because you can't visit the same restaurant more than once a week. When I tried the Trattoria (there are no vegetarian options on the menu), I was offered pasta which was fine but I was getting a bit bored of pasta at this stage as this seemed to be the only alternative offered. When going to the seafood restaurant although not really expecting them to have a vegetarian option they did have chicken and beef on the menu so I asked if there was a vegetarian option. They said that they could cook me some vegetables. In all the other restaurants they did have 2 vegetarian options for starters so you could ask them to make one of those a main meal instead. The Romantico was my favourite restaurant.
If you are a meat eater, you will be very happy here. There is plenty of choice, different meats etc.
The service in all restaurants was amazing. It wasn't as good in the buffet restaurants.
I preferred to stay round the pool but if you wanted to go to the beach you really needed to get there early to get a sun lounger. It also got quite crowded on the beach. There are two bars round the pool including a pool bar. They also had someone come round with a mobile bar that would come round to see if you wanted anything to drink while you were sunbathing. He would even make you cocktails.
The rooms were very clean and spacious and had everything you needed e.g. iron, ironing board, fridge (stocked with beer, cola and a bottle of water), TV, CD player, lounge area, safe.
I would definitely recommend the Playa Pesquero. If you are vegetarian don't expect it to be as easy as some of the early reviews say.

What a fantastic hotel/country! I went to Cuba to get married and went in a large group of 23 of us. The hotel was so impressive on arrival that we were already sold on the place before the holiday had begun. Check in was very fast and shortly after there was a train to take us to our relevant rooms, which had been upgraded to Superior and were massive.
There is so much going on at the hotel that you'll never be bored. We spent all day at the pool right by the pool bar which came in very handy. We had lots of kids in our group from the age of 3 - 17 and they spent all day in the pool, getting ice creams or down at the beach.
The evening entertainment isn't everyone's cuppa tea but a lot of effort had been put into the shows and then the disco starts a bit later which was quite a giggle on the couple of times we went there.
All of the staff are brilliant, friendly and helpful and definitely deserve the tips that they receive - make sure you take money for tipping, it’s their main way of earning money and it’s the only thing you need to spend money on anyway!
Our wedding was beautiful on the beach, they really made it look special for our big day and the scenery is just perfect, very odd having holiday makers in speedos and bikini's watching though but it just all adds to the setting!
If you get the chance to head out on a trip it’s well worth to see more of Cuba but the hotel has enough there that you certainly don't have to.
All in all this is a wonderful hotel in a beautiful country and l would go back in a second if I ever get the chance again!

We have just returned from two fabulous week’s holiday for my 40th birthday in the hotel Pesquero, it has been one of the best holidays we have ever had.
We were a bit worried after reading some of the other reviews, but went with an open mind, but I am so glad we did as from when the moment we got there we had first class service, the people were lovely and could not do enough for us.
The food was fantastic and there was plenty of choice, I would say however that it is more adult based although there were plenty of children there, I say this because even though they had a fantastic kids club and pool, we had decided to leave our children who are 14 and 11 with grandparents, and I am glad we did as the site was huge and I would not have been happy with them going around the place on their own, even though it was 100 per cent safe, and there were plenty of security guards.
Another reason why we rated this hotel was because of the extra touches that we received, our maid Yugaires cleaned our room perfectly and left a little floral display every day, which when you see the work that they do is amazing, and the hotel even gave me a birthday cake and a bottle of champagne delivered to our room on my birthday, which we did not have to pay for but was a lovely thought and made my day.
I can honestly say that this holiday gets our FIVE STAR rating and it deserves all the accolade, the beer garden was a brilliant place to drink, look out for Juan he is lovely also when your there try the stuffed shrimps their gorgeous, also for the very accommodating Luis Enrique one of the Managers. Also if you visit the Latino buffet restaurant say hello to Katyryna she is the best.
Also have fun.

This Hotel is absolutely amazing!
It is only rated 4* in the books but it is better than any 5* I have stayed in. The pool is like a lake and a sensible depth for children too. The sea is as clear as it gets, and the beach is just stunning.
There are many different facilities, 7 restaurants, sporting facilities and kids club. The girls at kids club were great and my daughter didn't want to leave. The food was excellent and service at all times was way beyond expectations.
Only problem we had with the holiday was the flight. Thomas cook plane was very small, not much leg room and we got put next to a man who took over half of my seat! Flight was very uncomfortable, but all airlines should put in measures to accommodate larger people for everyone’s comfort.
The resort though was out of this world and highly recommended.

Me & my partner stayed here all inclusive for 2 weeks.
Started off with a 16 hour delay at Gatwick. The less said about that the better.
The Thomas Cook flight was cramped to say the least. We flew with Cubana Airlines last year and they were much roomier. Met at the airport by the rep & taken by coach to the hotel.
It was a long, slow process at reception but eventually we were whisked away by golf buggy to our room. The place is vast. We didn’t mind being so far away from the main central area as it enable you to have a little exercise and walk off all the food & drink.
The rooms were quite big although our view of the trees wasn’t fantastic.
All the a la carte restaurants were fabulous, highly recommended. Apart from breakfast we only ate in the buffet restaurant twice, although there was a lot of food on offer we could never find anything that appealed.
Beach was lovely. We used to find a quiet spot on the end, away from the crowds; it didn’t feel like you were in Benidorm then. Sea was crystal and beautiful to swim in and snorkel.
Pool was huge with loads of loungers. Didn’t use it that often though. Both gained an ear infection from the pool water. Pool bar was always crowded with English. Lobby bar area had lots of seating but I felt it could have done with more bar staff. The shows were great; a lot of work had gone into each one.
I would go back to Cuba but not this resort. I prefer to get away from the english & children.

it as our first long haul holiday and it was worth every penny.
after months of planning we decided to go to cuba, somewhere no one we knew had been so we would have something and somewhere differant to talk about.
when we got there it was sunny but as we travelled to our hotel it rained and it did for the next few days on and off. but on or 3rd day the sun came out and stayed and was lovely.
the hotel was breath taking, my husband and 2 boys and my mum and myself went
the people were really friendly and lovely to talk to.
my youngest who is 11 was with the entainers all day and night playing football and helping in the evening shows, he made friends with Alex who came and sat with us every night after he had done the show, we all cried when we said our goodbyes.
there was loads of canadians some where a bit roudy bit like us brits when we hve a drink but they were friendly and did not cause any trouble.
i would go back to cuba and this hotel the food was amazing and its great to see your kids happy and eating new and exciting food.
the beach was lovely.
we visited the local school with 4 kids in (bless) you must do the jungle safari and he catermarang trip to go see he dolphins.
