We have 3 children aged 11,13 and 15. They all had a great holiday, and so did we. If you’re a big kid and young at heart, you will love the rides at duinrell, my favourite was the toboggan run. Swimming pool is good with lots more good rides. My only disappointment was that the outside pool wasn't open due to bad weather, so not that good if you just want a swim.
If you hire bikes after 12 o clock, you can keep bikes until 4 o clock next day. Would recommend cycling to Leden, ( super market on Saturday, very pretty lots of canals) Cycle path all the way to town centre, took us about 40 minutes. If you choose to go on a boat tour, don’t go on a boat with a glass top, as it restricts your view.
Children enjoyed high robes course and archery which is at the adventure centre in the amusement park, was very good value and staff very friendly and helpful.
Wasanaar village is only ten minutes walk from site and is quite quaint.
Beach at wasanaar is beautiful, we cycled there (cycle path all the way) which took about 20 minutes, but there is a bus.
Duinrell is a great place, my husband loved it as he didn’t have to drive the car all week.

Just returned from 2 week holiday at...

Just returned from 2 week holiday at Duinrell. What a great place for kids!!. Quite safe to let my 10 & 12 year olds go off to do own thing. Although theme park closes at 6pm, there are 2 great play parks, one for younger kids & one for older kids with unusual play equipment. Here is some useful info that I could have done with before traveling (I found out the hard way) :
Swimming pool is great but changing facilities are very cramped. We found it best to get changed before going swimming. Small children/babies are not allowed in the pool without armbands on, even if being carried by an adult. You can't go out of indoor pool if you have forgotten something once issued with a ticket & buggies can't be taken inside & must be left in the buggy store outside. Don't throw away your entry ticket after swimming as you need to reinsert it to get out again.
The on site supermarket has all you need & is open 7 days a week till 8pm & is not too expensive. Remember all plastic & glass bottles have a deposit on them and can be returned into machine in supermarket for a voucher. Credit cards are not accepted on site at all. The other shops in the theme park seem to be reasonably priced & sell a variety of things such as gifts, swimsuits, water toys, sweets, flip flops etc. You can pick up snacks at coin operated booth for 1.5 euros. There is a supermarket 5 minutes walk from site in centre of Wassenaar which is open till 8pm most nights & an Aldi 10 minutes walk away.
Launderette is reasonably priced at 4 euros a wash. Dryer takes 1 euros and iron 50 cents.
If taking a baby with you, remember to take a set of reins as no highchairs appear to have any restraints fitted. Most public toilets charge for you to use them even to change baby's nappy.
Days out can be quite expensive as children are often charged at an adult rate from about age 10.
We stayed in a bungalow tent and found this to be satisfactory even with a baby but we were lucky to have some shade. Most of the tents had no shade at all and we arrived in the middle of an extreme heat wave.
Be prepared for the kids to get very dirty as the site is very sandy. There are no really large areas of grass to play ball games etc by the bungalow tents.
Bike hire is a must. You pay 5 euro deposit each time you hire. There is usually a long wait & we waited for 40 minutes one time only to get to end of queue & there were no kid's bikes left.
I have no complaints at all about my experience at Duinrell. I know that many people have complained about the noise at night. True, it is not the site to go to if you like peace and quiet. However, we were all so tired by night that the noise didn't really trouble us. Hope this is helpful.

Excellent customer care by the representatives. Nothing was too much trouble. Wish we had taken our grandson with us. He would have loved the site. Plenty to do for the youngsters, it would have been hard to pull him away from the site.
The town of Wassenaar was lovely and the people very friendly. The site itself was kept very clean and tidy. The caravan we had was clean and apart from the door deciding to come apart everything else was as it should be. Useful to have a separate toilet and bathroom.
We loved the ducks that frequented our doorstep as soon as we woke up for the daily breakfast.
No complaints at all.

Brilliant site weather in September very mild much the same as England, tour reps very efficient, however due to trouble earlier in the year on arrival we were told that entertainment by the tour reps was nil. And if you are placed at the front of the camp to expect some noise from delivery lorries from 5.30 in the morning.
Noise which was requested by the campsite to be kept to a minimum after 11.00pm was disregarded especially by larger groups of teenagers who also tended to congregate in certain areas of the camp.

This site is amazing. It is great for a holiday with young or teenage children due to the theme park incorporated into the site, which has thrill rides and smaller amusements. Although the climate is very similar to the UK so if you are looking for sun I do not recommend this place.
Most of the holiday companies offer a two hour visit to the superb water park once a day. I recommend you take advantage of this and you also chose to visit in the morning as early as possible to avoid it being busy.
I recommend this site as a place to go for a short break at a half term and you won’t be disappointed.
