Totally agree with other reviews. Been to France camping for the past 20 years and have been to some pretty impressive sites but the location of this one is second to none.
A riverside pitch is truly something special. We spent many an evening watching the river and people enjoying themselves on it while we drank a few glasses of wine.
Restaurant is best I have ever been to on a campsite, and so reasonable we ate there 4 times, especially the themed evenings where we sampled local produce, excellent.
Very safe and friendly site, just a nice size, same amount of facilities as bigger sites but with less people on it. Great for younger teenagers who want the freedom without you worrying about them too much.
Loved it so much we have already booked to go again next year, first time we have been somewhere twice so that says something.
We toured, but owner’s chalets looked very tempting. No wonder it won campsite of the year.

Superb location on the River Dordogne, beautiful green landscape.
No passing traffic (cul de sac), campsite surrounded by fields and meadows.
First class facilities, good restaurant, bar and take-always. Family atmosphere.
Unfortunately, already almost nothing available for July and August 2007. It is not surprising as they are recipient of France Camping of the year 2007 Award.
Next time, I'll book for summer 2008 in November 2007. This time, I'll go in May. It doesn't matter too much as the Aquatic Park is heated.

Great location next to a superb river with safe bathing for kids, fishing, snorkelling, canoeing. Pebble and sand beaches available if you want to BBQ on the bank or on the island.
Good sports facilities - canoe, tennis, table tennis and new multisports [tennis/baketball/footie/etc.] Good pool complex with some amazing banana plants. Golf just down the road [1km] but not cheap.
Easy access to Sarlat and other Dordogne towns.
Friendly management, pleasant restaurant. Bar is small but terrace under the walnut tree is a good place to enjoy a wine or two. [maybe more]
We wondered if going back for a 3rd year was a mistake but when we arrived the kids inflated the water toys and set off for the river whilst adults put their feet up and relaxed knowing 13 and 11 year old kids could play safely. 20 minutes later we had 2 amused kids and 2 relaxed adults - and so it remained for the rest of the week.
If you like to go and explore then you will find loads of history/culture in the area - Those with an interest in history will need several weeks to scratch the surface of all that is offered and those who have an interest in food will not be disappointed either.
We have been to places where more entertainment is prearranged and more happens of an evening but we have never found a site with a better location or where a more relaxing atmosphere is to be found. Suggest Le Moulinal at Biron has more arranged entertainment and an equally good atmosphere but its lake is no match for the Dordogne when it comes to a location.

4 STARS Soleil plage is in a magnificent site, along the Dordogne river (canoeing, fishing, swimming on the beach) in front of an impressive cliff, among a green landscape full of trees and meadows.
Either you are in a camping pitch, a mobile-home or a chalet, you can meet in the centre called "the village" with its fountain, its beautiful flowers, restaurant from simple to "grande cuisine", take-away, bar, terrasses, minimart and a welcoming multilingual RECEPTION which was allowed this year, the price "l'etoile d'OR of the best camping du SUD OUEST". Plenty to do inside, sports-wise, aquatic park entertainment and outside in this CASTLE COUNTRY, middle-age towns and villages and markets, Neolithic caves, golf, balloon, accrobranche, bicycle, hiking. So easy to fly from many English cities with low cost Ryan air &FLYBE to Bergerac, where you could hire a car.
First time for me, but I have already booked fro 2006 because the high season is almost full.
No surprise that the region is invaded by BRITS...

Soleil Plage's location is exceptional, just by the Dordogne and with the Cauldon cliffs opposite a wonderful view from everywhere on the site. Its facilities are also fantastic - the unisex toilet / washing / shower blocks are of a very high standard and constantly had a high level of cleanliness. Also nice swimming pool complex and the restaurant is of a high standard and very reasonable. Staff all very helpful.
However when we were there (7 - 18 August 2008) big problem with noise:
On the site itself there was a problem with "feral" teenagers (French and British) roaming the site and meeting at the sanitary block until 1:00 - 2:00 am. Site did take some steps to tackle this (putting up notices), but occurred every night, except Saturdays (as main changeover day).
Also several nights groups of mainly French Teens / twenties parked up by the Dordogne and had "fun" (for them) until the early morning.
I suspect that this is a problem that is very time specific (to French & UK school holidays), but worth thinking about if you are after a quite holiday.
