This camp-site was beautifully situated in a truly lovely area of France. The lakes and river which you have direct access to were fabulous - the lake was clean and safe swimming areas were clearly defined. There was supervised swimming at certain times at the lake. A wonderful way to spend the day.
There was plenty to do on the site with an excellent tree climbing activity (reasonably priced) which my 13 and 10 year old boys loved. The Eurocamp staff were as usual helpful and professional. Canoes could be booked free of charge to Eurocamp/Keycamp customers and the river runs along the camp-site - some tent pitches overlook it.
We had a fabulous mobile pitch away from the bar/pool/terrace area and ideally placed for a relaxing holiday. However, I have to say that some pitches nearer to the bar/pool area were not as attractive and must have suffered from a fair amount of noise from both the pool area and the evening entertainment/disco. These did include Euro and Key camp mobiles - so beware when booking.
The pool was small but perfectly formed with great slides and some shade. There were lifeguards but they seemed to be there to top up their tans rather than guard lives. There are clear signs stating that the pool is unsupervised and it sure is. The children's club 'fun station for all' was well run. The animation programme run by the site itself was patchy - boules tournament, archery or else late night discos. My 13 year old wasn't impressed.
This place is CRYING OUT for a 'base' age group activity. I have to say if it had base, we would be back next year like a shot - and I spoke to many other parents who felt the same.
Overall a beautiful camp-site in a beautiful area with tons for families to do. It has set the standard for us and we are finding it hard to find a camp-site which matches up to it.

This was our children's favourite campsite ( we also stayed at Herbolzheim Germany 7/10 and Susten Switerland 9/10). Everything about it was fab....luxurious chalet, lovely setting, boating, cycling ,friendly and helpful Eurocamp staff, cheap take away, well stocked shop...the list goes on.
The Jura region was also a very pleasant surprise, we visited some lovely towns and villages nearby. The nearest hypermarket was cheap (especially the wine) and had an amazing range of products.
The highlight of our stay was the meal we had on our last night at a restaurant called "Le Charleston" in Baumes Les Dames.
Our children, aged 9 and 6, loved the Fun Station. They were waiting outside for the Fun Station staff to collect them every morning and had to be dragged away at the end of the day. We just couldn't fault this campsite.

Family of 5 with 3 boys now aged 13,15 & 19. First went to Val de Bonnal about 8 years ago and loved it so much. We are returning again in 2009 and this will be our 5th time. Booked a couple of times with keycamp and the other times directly with the campsite. We do enjoy a bit more luxury now and book the 3 bedroom mobile home...
It is medium size but has the feel of a small site. It is ultra friendly and you really do end up feeling like one big family. I think it helps that we always pend 3 weeks there. We take the ferry to Calais and the motorway nearly all the way and then go off onto the A and B roads to the site. It takes us about 7 hours but we stop a lot for coffee, loo and eating breaks.
The campsite location is beautiful. Take bikes as you have wonderful very safe cycling just outside the campsite entrance. Rougemont is the large vilage nearby about 3 minutes drive or 15 minutes by bike. a few shops, supermarket, banks etc and very pretty if you spend some time there by foot or bike.
The campsite has a lovely outdoor pool with great slides. swimming also in the safe sectioned off part of the lake with life guards. pedalos on the boating lake and I think other boating things. free entry to the lake area for campers. Also karting cicuit by the lake. Canoeing trips available nearby and if you book with keycamp/eurocamp then free canoe use.
The entertainment is brilliant with live music twice a week near the bar, disco once week..2 erarly for little children and then late into the night for 14+ and everyone joins in. Miss & Mister Bonnal which is a fun talent competition. On for children and once for 13-adults. All the reps join in as well. Football, volleyball, archery etc during the day and lovely children club. Lots of tabel tennis tables scattered around and pool tables in the bar. Once a week free sangria evening when they present awards for activities during the week
Take away on site which is also a basic restaurant. good value with chicken & chips, sausnages, nuggets, pizzas and lots of other things. It is very popular high season. Restaurant by the lake is just a couple of minutes walk away. A bit expensive but very good and a nice treat once a week. Fantastic pizza restaurant about 15 minutes drive away, this is our favourite. It is called Le Cave or Le Caveau in Baume les Dames.
The only reason I gave it 9 not 10 is that we would love them to build a traditional outdoor pool for length swimming. The pool is great fun but I would liek to swim properly and although my husband and sons love swimming in the lake, I prefer a nice chlorinated pool!!
fantastic and highly recommended. You see the same people every year so that is always a good sign.
