A lovely 7 days in Cyprus
My partner and I have just returned from the our 7 day holiday in Cyprus staying at the Olympic Lagoon Resort. Stepping off the plane you were welcomed by a hot warm breeze well up into the 80s. When we finally arrived at the resort we were shown to our Superior Bungalow with own private hedged terrace. The rooms were clean and spotless and if you wanted a well deserved lie in in the mornings you were not disturbed at all. The pool area, which there was two. The smaller pool especially for tots to older young children, and the main pool which was spacious and beautifully decored with waterfalls and two interlocking bridges. We had booked on a Bed and Breakfast tariff, though All inclusive was an option, or bed, breakfast and evening meal was also available. Plenty of loungers and parasols to be had, and even when you wanted a lounger at eleven in the morning, THERE WERE PLENTY TO PICK FROM. Although there were cereals, fruit, toast and cooked items at the breakfast restaurant, it was limited for choice on the menu. It was mostly fried eggs, scambled eggs, beans, small frankfurter sausages and not bacon as we would know it. but looked like thin slices of ham!!! No tomatoes, mushrooms, hashbrowns or omlettes and pancakes etc, like some hotels we have been in. We choose to get our cereals and cossants and bread from the local supermarket, which was five minutes across the resort,, and eat it outside our bungalow. Any other meals we could not comment on though the notice board did say theme nights. The dinner SNACKS was a good menu and you could order it and either sit in the open dining room or have it by the pool. Waiters did come and deliver it when ready. This we did quite often. The evening entertainment, which to some is a delight, was rather loud all over the resort and if you wanted a drink or a sit outside your balcony/terrace in the evenings, it came over loud. A visit to Ayia Napa was an eye opener. The harbour was pleasant for an evening meal and we frequented a pub in the nightzone of the area called the Highlander. All restaurants in the Nissi Beach and Ayia Napa areas did good food, not spicy at all and I for one enjoyed the culinary delights of the cypriat/greek cooking as spicy food doesnt agree with me. One to eat at was THE GARDEN OF EDEN. After our first vist we were welcomed like a big family and the waiters and waitresses could do nothing to please you and the food was excellent. I did tell the head waiter that we had seen comments before on the web and to try it out, we kept going back for more!!!! I would frequent Cyprus again for a holiday but would probably try another resort but definately a must for sunshine and relaxing. I would rate it a 3/4 star accommodation.
Could have been better
My wife and I went to this hotel in June both as a 25th anniversary for us and to attend our friend's wedding, held at the hotel. There is no question that the focal point (and only highlight) are the pool areas which were superb, although I would think caotic in peak season. However I can not agree with previous reviewers with regards to the staff as we found them to be far from helpful and in some cases rude, with only a few exceptions. The bar staff/waitressess were mostly eastern european and had limited knowledge of english, which was'nt too bad if ordering something simple like 'a beer' but try 'a vodka, lime and lemonade in a large glass' and then to be charged almost £5. Hotel drinks were expensive and at times variable (depending on who serves you} and you had a different brand of spirit if you paid cash. We also were not too happy with the fact the that as the hotel is totally open to the main road at the back, the 'locals', or indeed anyone could wander in and use the pool areas at weekends (including moving hotel guest's towels to acquire a sunbed). I will add that the chambermaids were excellent and very friendly and the 'entertainment' team worked tirelessly day and night. The wedding went well but mainly down to the organisation of the travel agency, First Choice, because as far as the hotel staff it was just another wedding and their charges were extortionate. This hotel is ideal for young families and those who love to laze by the pool all day but if you like to get about then you need to hire a car,get a bus or spend out on taxis.
Fantatstic Hotel
Stayed for two weeks in June with Husband and two daughters aged 8 and 5. We loved everything about the Olympic Lagoon. The pools were fantastic, plenty of space, always enough sunbeds and parasols. In the height of summer it would probably be a little too busy for our liking but anytime outside of July and August would be fine. The food was good and always alot of variety on the buffet. Prices of drinks, ice creams etc were higher than outside the hotel but not extreme. The entertainment and activities were first class our children loved the kids club which had two day sessions and an evening session every day!! The entertainment team worked really hard and after a full day put on a caberet show every night that was really good quality. All the staff were friendly and very helpful, the hotel was spotless our maid brilliant. I can't fault the Olympic Lagoon and would go back here again anytime!!
great hotel
what a good place to spend a week in. the hotel itself was a charm, the pool exceptional. went with my wife and kid of 2 she just loved especially the shallow part of the pool where you walk in instead of jumping in, her first time in a pool got very confident very quickly as the pools are very well laid out and safe. rooms where very good worth while getting a pool view as it is nice at night. entertainment each night was pretty good especially that of the reps from premiere travel put on. went all inclusive had to wear a armband which was a bit annoying, a lot of food but where limited to only local drinks. the only downfall i had was that on an all inclusive should mean an all inclusive, which was not i had to buy my kid ice cream, crisp and even an slush puppy which i had to keep money with me on the complex
Good location, great pools
We enjoyed a 4-day vacation and wedding (that took place outside the hotel, in Aradipou). We took 4 bungalows that were not luxurious but satisfactorily comfortable, clean and nice. The bungalows are made of two rooms that can be parted by a partition for some privacy, if sharing a room with children. The hotel is nicely located next to a nice and quite beach. We went there only once, since we found the loud Nissi beach to be more fun, and it is only a ten-minute walk from the hotel. The pool area is probably the nicest feature of the hotel. We recommend the hotel, as long as you do not have any high-class luxury expectations. By the way, there is a narrow twirling boardwalk by the water that connects the beaches. I found it to be a perfect path for jogging. Timeout restaurant recommendations were a success for us. The English version of Timeout is easily available at the local supermarkets. One more thing – the nearby water park is a must!
Great Holiday
Lovely hotel once you get over shock of turning up and hotel is off slip road to motorway (although motorway is very quiet). Hotel beautiful and cannot fault swimming pool areas. Bedrooms have recently been refurbished and are very clean and bright, perhaps more money could be spend on bathrooms though as I would not rate these as 4*. We stayed Half Board - food lovely and high quality but not the greatest selection some days Entertainment - well I don't find Hotel entertainment very good anyway but was really disappointed this time, we stayed to watch 2 nights but gave up after that. Taxi into the centre of Ayia Napa was 5 Cyprus Pounds each way although you could get a bus for 80p per person but buses were a bit hit and miss. Staff at hotel could not be more friendly or efficient so overall really pleased.
loved it there got married there
we got married at the olympic lagoon pricy but good, thanks to the aphrodite wedding services our wedding day was the best, the pool area was fab, i would recommed the bungelow suites the other rooms are too tiny for families, food was decent staff on reception bit rude and arrogant but who cares u dont have to see them really. cleaned every day fab service, fab pools fab kids club staff well recommended**************8
Really can't fault this place.
We stayed at this hotel for a week beginning the 27th May and had an excellent holiday. We stayed B & B and found the breakfast to be really good for a buffet, plenty of choice. The pool was spotless although there were the usual people puting towels down at 6am then not sitting on them till two or three in the afternoon. The poolbar was good for lunch time snacks and not to exspensive my wife and toddler ate there near everyday for lunch and it was around £12-£15 for the three of us. The drinks seem to be the big topic for this place when it comes to reviews, I honestly didn't think it was to bad. £2 CY for a pint of the local Keo beer and £6.50 CY for a half decent bottle of local white wine. Soft drinks are a little pricey but there is a small supermarket right next to the hotel which was quite cheap. I wouldnh't use the mini bar but for £14CY a week you can have the mini bar emptied and use it as a fridge, then put whatever you like in it. Handy for the toddlers milk etc. Walking distance place to eat had to be the Garden of Eden take a right out of the bottom exit of the hotel and walk five to ten mins. Lovely place food good and reasonably priced. Aiya Napa is a short cab ride £4-£5 CY, really couldn't be walked in the heat although is a pleasent 30 min walk in the cooler evening. By far the best place to eat in Napa is the Clarabell on the hill going up to the square right hand side, the food here is exceptional. Haven't tested a better fillet steak anywhere. We will be going back here next year if not sooner.
Great Wedding
Recently returned from this hotel, stayed as a bed and breakfast, plenty of resturants nearby as well as in Aya Napa which is a half hour walk or 5 pound taxi ride. My neice got married at the hotel while I was there and everything was pefect for her big day thanks to Jo the wedding planner. My only complaint is that the drinks in the hotel are very expensive compared to other resturants and clubs in the area. (they do however offer a cheaper deal that is all inclusive for drinks but you have to sign up for a few days and the small sign they have referring to this is not very obvious)The staff were very friendly especially Andri the waitress in the main bar. I will return to this resort again
fantastic
my husand and i stayed in this hotel in may, i can only say its one of the nicest hotels i have stayed in,the staff are so friendly, the rooms cleaned every day with fresh towels, you are not charged for the pool towels which makes a nice change, the pool are so large you never have to wait for a sun bed, We stayed all inclusive instead of armbands u sign slips for all your meals which is ok,although i do think they could come up with abetter way, food was lovely steaks, fish, lamb, beef, plus a good traditional english breakfast.beach is only over the road 5minutes walk, we walked into ayia napa on a few occassions about 30 minutes walk,or 5 pounds in a taxi if you have not paid for transfers with the holiday company its only 20 pounds from the airport which works out cheaper as our holiday company wanted 100 pounds will be going back in september without a doubt
