Jul 2004, cleo

We visited Ayia Napa and stayed at The Olympic Lagoon Resort for 2 weeks. Five of us went - me, my husband, my brother & sister in law plus their 5 year old.
We had adjacent rooms on the ground floor, which were spacious and relatively clean. The only negative points about the rooms were the ants in the bathroom and on the dressing table (although the staff at the hotel got rid of them pretty quickly when we complained).
The second point was that they have a problem with mice - we didn’t have them in our room but my brother (who was next door) did - they were told that they could change rooms but another couple who were opposite had told us that they also had experienced this problem & had moved 3 times & it hadn’t made a difference - not what you’d expect from a 4 star hotel.
On a positive note the pools are fantastic. Good level of entertainment available each day.
If we went back we would probably just go B&B as there are numerous restaurants within walking distance that offer a great variety of food and not too expensive. We found a restaurant called Diones - fantastic!
We went with Cosmos and we won’t be doing so again - we hardly saw our Rep & when we did she just complained that she was overworked - not very professional at all.

We used to stay in the Olympic Napa...

Jun 2004, Mrs S K Bland

We used to stay in the Olympic Napa hotel, now changed its name to Olympic Lagoon resort. About 8 years ago when we first holidayed in Cyprus we stayed there and really enjoyed it, so much so that we went back for the next four years running. There was a pleasant atmosphere, music around the pool, plenty of staff, to make your stay more pleasant, and the hotel was very popular.
We decided to go back this year, and were quite dismayed, as the toilets were dirty in the reception area; also we hardly saw any staff about the whole week we were there. We could not order drinks around the pool areas as there was nobody about to take your order, also the Breakfasts, were really bad, greasy bacon and eggs, cereal that was not English, and that contained lots of sugar. I ended up eating just toast by the end of two days.
We ordered the teasmaid for our weeks stay, and they did not replenish our stock, so we ended up buying teabags, and milk. Also the maids that cleaned the rooms and stocked our bathroom only supplied us with shampoo, and no shower gel for the whole week. I know we should have complained, but we could not be bothered.
The good thing about the Olympic lagoon is that they have two swimming pools outside which we could not fault. Also they have just built an inside pool which is huge and inviting. Good to have in the winter as they are now open all year. Also the hotel is near Makronossis Beach, which is a walk away (The best beach in Ayia Napa). The hotel is in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of the town.
The only reason we would not go back to that particular hotel is because of the food.

I stayed in this hotel at the end of...

Jun 2004, Miss S Mearman

I stayed in this hotel at the end of June this year and was very impressed. The rooms were clean and an adequate size. We did not pay for a pool/sea view and if I were to return I don’t think I would next time either.
The only negative points I can mention are the additional charges. Tea and coffee facilities were not provided in the rooms but could be hired for CYP£2.80 per day. The mini bar drinks were expensive and they charge CYP£2 per day for any item you place in the fridge. There were a few TV channels that were free in the room; few English speaking channels. There was the option of Pay TV but I think this cost CYP£6 per day. If you are not careful these charges could add up!!
Staying on a B&B basis, the breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of items: cooked breakfasts, yoghurts, cereals, cold meats, fruit, bread, muffins, doughnuts etc. Each night the hotel held a different themed night with a variety of different cuisines.
What made this hotel for me were the pools. There were numerous pools of various depths, all beautifully landscaped. Activities were organised throughout the day for both kids and adults, all of which were free of charge. This is an ideal place for a family holiday. I went with my boyfriend and we felt a bit out-numbered by families, but the hotels offerings are great for all visitors. The leisure facilities were excellent.
There are a number of restaurants/bars just along the road from the hotel that offer great value for money, all of which have very friendly and welcoming staff. There is also a supermarket just outside the hotel. The beach is just a few minutes walk from the hotel and absolutely gorgeous, clear water and white sand.
It was about a 45min to an hour walk into the centre of Ayia Napa but only a couple of minutes in a taxi at a cost of CYP£4. Whether you are looking for the excitement of the nightlife or not, this hotel is ideally situated. It is on the edge of the resort so you are in a quiet area away from all the hustle and bustle, but close enough to the town if you wish to venture into it!!
I would have no problem recommending this hotel. I had a fabulous time and will undoubtedly be returning!!

May 2004, tree

Went to the Olympic Lagoon hotel Ayia Napa in May of this year. Our tour operator was Argo. I was very disappointed in the service they offered and therefore would not book through them again.
The hotel was ok, the room was very small as a family room and the hygiene was appalling. There was supposed to be TV for kids but when we got there we had to pay for it. The hotel was a 4 star but the standard of the room was poor, the food however was excellent and the pool was good. However the hotel was supposed to be family friendly but topless sunbathing was permitted which was not really appropriate with young children around.
Whilst in Ayia Napa we found an excellent restaurant called Diones. The food was 10/10 the staff and service 10/10 they also catered well for children nothing was to much trouble for then all in all I would rate Diones as 12/10.

Being with a group of 3 families all...

May 2004, Mr A Jones

Being with a group of 3 families all with young children the fear of taking a holiday abroad is quite daunting for any parent, but from the moment we entered the hotel our fears dispersed as the greeting we received from the hotel staff was superb, they dealt with our requests professionally and very efficiently.
The hotel was large with out buildings containing bungalows and 2 storeys, set within large well kept gardens with lagoons and waterfalls and very clean surroundings. Plenty of sunbeds and a great play area with little tikes products all set on sand for all the children to play.
The hotel room was large, clean and air-conditioned it had a pull along door dividing the children’s sleeping area from the adults. There was a queen’s size bed in the main part of the room with TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a safe and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, perfect for the larger family. we had 3 single beds in the children’s part of the room, again with plenty of room, this lead out onto the patio area.
The hotel maids cleaned the room every day and changed the sheets at least 3 times during the week, very pleasant staff that loved children. Breakfast is buffet style with plenty of choice; you can sit outside or in the restaurant. Towels were provided by the hotel for use around the pools and when finished with them, all you had to do was leave them in your bath.
There was entertainment in the hotel but we tended to go out of the hotel to find restaurants with play areas, which we did approx ten minutes walk from the hotel. This was a great asset to any restaurant as it had our vote. There was a supermarket just outside the hotel grounds for any drinks or snacks as the hotels were a little bit expensive.
A beach was only 5 minutes walk. We were located approx 2 mile outside the centre of Ayia Napa but taxi’s are easily accessible, but remember to agree a price when getting in it seemed to cost us about £4.00 wherever we went. The water park was within walking distance of the hotel a great day out well worth a visit, plenty for all ages.
A great holiday, definitely return and would recommend to all our friends.

May 2004, Mrs D Dyson

We stayed at the Olympic lagoon in May of this year. The hotel pools are excellent the food is good i would give them a rating of 9/10. However the family rooms are not large enough for 2 adults and 2 children .The overall cleanliness and change of linen is poor. The added extras are a bit of a surprise.
I would rate the rooms 5/10. However the staff are excellent and very friendly. The hotel is near to restaurants that have excellent facilities for children. Our favourite was DIONNES the food was excellent and the service was second to none.

If I had to sum up in one word what this place is like it would surely be "heaven".
The rooms are more than adequate and clean, people are friendly and helpful and the pool area is second to none.
It’s a great family holiday and they do lots of FREE activities for the children to keep them occupied all day long. We will definitely be going again soon, as my family and I are well and truly under it’s spell.

Jul 2003, Miss SA McIlroy

A family member recommended the Olympic Lagoon Resort Hotel to me, so I thought I'd give it a go, after all, it couldn't be any worse than where I had stayed in the past. When I arrived and walked into the reception area, I was very impressed indeed. The hotel room was very spacious and very clean. The pools and gardens were great, and the hotel had a very friendly atmosphere. I'd have no problem recommending the Olympic Lagoon Resort and I will definitely be visiting it again.
