Sep 2006, Mrs M Butt

A beautiful hotel the pool were fantastic and very clean.
If you have children I would recommend the hotel run kids club the staff that ran it were lovely and friendly and so good with the children. The animation team were fun and always smiling.
Lovely people and a great atmosphere. The only reason this hotel did not get a 10 is the food, its ok but not the best, the breakfast was average but not much of a selection and the option of evening meal is not worth taking. Not much selection and a bit bland. Just down the road there are some fantastic restaurants especially Gardens inn a three course meal for 5.50 Cypriot pound and so tasty.
Definitely go again just a shame that the hotel is not nearer to the main town of Ayia Napa because it is slightly out of the way. But definitely the best swimming pools I have ever seen!

Enjoyed our holiday at the Olympic...

Sep 2006, Mr T Cooper

Enjoyed our holiday at the Olympic Lagoon resort.
Hotel very good. Staff friendly and very helpful. Rooms cleaned regularly. Swimming pools are the main attraction. Plenty of sun beds and plenty of daytime activities.
Drinks at hotel a bit pricey but service very good. The hotel stage shows not brilliant but the performers gave it their best.
Plenty of entertainment at local supermarket. The most miserable supermarket staff ever, the granddad was the only one who smiled and spoke and said thank you. The wife and daughters found it hard to smile and thank anyone for their custom.
Local bars and restaurants prices ok. Tried a few of the restaurants in Nissi and Ayia Napa but the best by far was the Garden of Eden, just a short walk from the hotel. The food here was excellent and Tassos and all the staff were very welcoming. Well worth a visit.
Looked forward to visiting Nissi beach but found it not a patch on what it was. It is now very dirty with so much litter and dog ends on the sand. Shame they don't clean it off once in a while.
Back to the Olympic Lagoon, a very good resort and a nice touch for our eldest daughters 19th birthday, they left some birthday balloons in the room and a bottle of French champagne in an ice bucket for when we arrived back from our day at the pool. Well impressed with such a nice gesture, many thanks to the hotel management.
Well worth another visit.

Fantastic hotel with gorgeous pools,...
9 / 10
Aug 2006, Mrs E Delo

Fantastic hotel with gorgeous pools, that includes 2 Jacuzzi’s, and are never overcrowded even in the height of the summer season.
Facilities are great around the hotel with something for everyone, whether you want to have a game of tennis, work out in the gym or chill by the pool. There is even a Kids Club for the little ones so they don't get bored!
The entertainment team provide a variety of events during the day if you feel energetic enough to get off the sun bed, and the Aqua Splash is very popular, although there is no pressure to join in if you don't want to.
Prices in the hotel are expensive, but there is a very handy supermarket just outside. Even though you are discouraged from purchasing food and drink outside the hotel and bringing it in, nobody seems to mind too much.
The Hotel is a fair walk into Nissi Bay (about 15 - 20 minutes), and not for the less mobile. Ayia Napa is even further and a taxi or bus is a must. Taxis were easy to come by and not very expensive.
If you are on a Bed & Breakfast basis, we would recommend visiting the Garden's Inn in Nissi Bay, as they cater for everyone, and are good value. The staff here are very friendly and helpful.
In summary we had a great holiday and would definitely go back.

What can I say? Olympic lagoon resort...
8 / 10
Aug 2006, M Frame

What can I say? Olympic lagoon resort is a must. The activities were great. There was all age football where adults and kids played football together. They had a right good time and they enjoyed themselves.
The pools were lovely and clean and the indoor pool, was freezing but so great for exercise. The entertainment was OK but we normally went out at night. The golden beach about 200 metres from the hotel was amazing, the water was clear blue and there was lots of facilities like a restaurant, water sports and much more.
Also a 5 minute drive from the award winning water park Water world where there is fun for all the family. A great hotel well worth thinking about if going to Cyprus.

Aug 2006, Mrs K Whitehurst

The hotel is spotless; the staff are very friendly and polite. The pool is out of this world and day time activities are plentiful.

Even though the hotel was fully booked when we went, there was always plenty of sun beds available and the pools were never crowded.
We got married at the Town Hall, but had our reception for 16 people at the Garden of Eden (5 minutes from the hotel) which I would highly recommend. They opened up early just for us (at no extra cost) and at a small extra charge decorated the table and chairs in a choice of ivory or white linen.
It was all very professional and the food was gorgeous we went traditional and had a Greek meze. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We ate at this restaurant four times in the two weeks we were there. I would definitely go back to the Olympic Lagoon.

Have just returned from spending 2...

Aug 2006, Mrs K Bryant

Have just returned from spending 2 weeks at this excellent hotel. We chose the flexi-dine option where you pay to have 7 evening meals at the hotel out of 14 so you have the flexibility of using the hotel or the local restaurants. Food at the hotel was usually buffets which had plenty of choice and were very well cooked and prepared.
The room and hotel were exceptionally clean with very friendly staff. They seemed to employ a small army of staff just to sweep the pool area and other public spaces every day!!
Whilst there, we went on a couple of excursions booked via the Thomson rep ie Troodos Mountains which is a must for anyone new to the island and to Egypt to see the pyramids which was certainly an interesting experience!
We also visited Waterworld which is a 15 minute walk from the hotel. We've visited water parks all over the world, including all the Disney ones, and can say that this is one of the best we've been to. Plenty of sunbeds with parasols - Disney should take note!
We had a great holiday and would thoroughly recommend this hotel. The only reason we're not giving it 10 out of 10 was the hotel's location which was fine for the waterpark but was quite a walk to Nissi Beach and even further to Ayia Napa.

Well what can I say, well done...
10 / 10
Jul 2006, Not Specified

Well what can I say, well done Thomson! Turned on the style from the word go, very good indeed!
As for Olympic lagoon, well let me say just this. Last year, I was a bit disappointed at peoples comments regarding a certain hotel I stayed in, as I was expecting a lot worse when I got to it. It got slated on the reviews and was lovely. Like I said at the time some people are very hard to please! How Olympic lagoon gets bad reviews, is beyond my wildest imagination this place oozes class we felt like royalty from the minute we got there.
Pools there are like something we've never seen before, believe me when i tell you brochures do this hotel no justice. Also, when they bring you those fresh(half frozen) flannels round the pool to cool off, Its fabulous! Having spent £1800 for two weeks to get there we were a bit apprehensive as to what we were going to get. Money well spent!
Breakfast of a morning was lovely, so much variety. One negative about Cyprus though, July-August, insanely hot. (Factor 30 eat your heart out I still got 3rd degree burns)
The hotel is as you hear about 40 mins walk away from the centre of Ayia Napa but 5 minutes in a taxi which costs 5CYP. The minimum fare taxi's will take is 4CYP so be cautious as to the distance you need to go. (Might be better getting a taxi anyway because even for a shorter distance its still 4CYP)Water park a stones throw away again 4 CYP taxi ride. Very good indeed is water world! Nissi beach is out of this world. Best beach I’ve ever been on. How people can single out Diones and places for meals is also beyond me, every one of them is gorgeous, particularly Odysseus, Valentinos and Zorba the Greek. Like I said though they're all real nice and there are lots to choose from for meals.
As for hotel being pricey, some might ask why but ill explain. Two sandwiches, and 3 soft drinks 12.85cyp!(Average £15 which needless to say we didn't bother again!)
Other than that though, see for yourself, but it gets top marks from us, i would definitely pay out for it again, and I do envisage a return in the near future so i do hope any readers of this have a more clearer picture of what to expect.

Me and my Wife chose to visit this...
9 / 10
Jul 2006, Mr D Hart

Me and my Wife chose to visit this resort as our Honeymoon. We had looked for somewhere special with lovely Hotel Grounds and nice environment. We were not disappointed in the slightest.
We arrived at around 6pm and we were quickly checked in and the porter taking both suit cases up to the room. Our room was on the corner so just got view of the pool. We requested to upgrade but couldn’t as the Hotel was busy. We later were happy because the balcony at night get the most beautiful sun set and is perfect for sitting having a few drinks before going out for a meal. The reception staff are friendly and speak good English and there is always someone around to help if needed.
The Pools are beautiful and the area around the pool is well kept and there are loads of sun beds and more than enough room for everyone. There is a poolside bar which is great.
Ayia Napa is good, not huge amounts to do just mostly gift shops and the usual beach stuff. We went to the beach once and stayed 30mins. The hotel is so good the beach didn’t even seem like an option. Seasons is a good bar and must try Strawberry Daiquiri cocktails.
One thing I will warn about is Cyprus is very expensive. Me and My wife spent £1500 Sterling in 1 week. That was buying lunch/dinner and having some drinks nothing much else.
We will probably go back with our young son and go all inclusive and stay around the hotel. Lots of other families did it and seemed to have a great time.
Airport is a complete and utter joke. Take calm pills before going as they display wrong Gate numbers and sorry but there was no one around to help when we went. It is privately owned.
Overall go to this place you wont be disappointed.

My husband and our 2 children aged 11...
10 / 10
Jul 2006, Mrs K Roberts

My husband and our 2 children aged 11 and 8 went to Cyprus for the first time at the end of June and chose the Olympic Lagoon as it looked so nice in the brochure and had received really good reviews. We were not disappointed!
The Hotel was fantastic, really clean, very well organised, nice friendly staff and the reception desk staff spoke very good English and could answer any questions you had. We stayed in a junior suite on the lower floor which was clean and very spacious. We didn't have a pool view but that didn't matter because you won't be spending much time in your room when you see the pools and hotel grounds! The pool was fantastic, very clean and safe for the kids, waterfalls everywhere and bridges and not overcrowded.
There were plenty of sun beds but I would advise you to put your towels on them on the way to breakfast if you want a good spot. The breakfast was buffet style and had something for everyone. We ate 3 times during our week long stay at the Hotel as there were themed evenings with different cuisines. I can recommend the carvery evening, very nice food and plenty of it. We usually got a taxi to Nissi Bay 5 minutes up the road (4 cpds) and would suggest you try Valentinos, very nice food, not expensive and has a play area for the kids. We took a bus ride into Ayia Napa which was about 10 minutes away and cost 0.80cents each.
I wouldn't go in the daytime as the heat is unbearable to walk around in. The beach is just across the road from the Hotel and is very nice, the water is so clear and very shallow but beware of some rocks on the right hand side of the beach. We all had a ride on the banana boat which was good fun and tried the jet ski's and paragliding (brilliant but quite expensive). I would definitely go to the water park which is 5 minutes by taxi down the road (3 cpds). We had such a brilliant day out, there were plenty of lifeguards around each ride, it was very organised and you didn't have to queue for very long.
There were lockers to hire and some changing rooms as well. It opens at 10am and most rides close at 5.45pm. I would get there early to enjoy the day as there is so much to do and plenty of swimming pools to choose from too. Avoid going on a Friday as this seems to be the day when it is busiest as most organised trips go there on this day. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable holiday that we are going to go back to Cyprus and the Olympic Lagoon next year. The First Choice reps. were brilliant and very friendly, helpful and organised.
The only bad point was Larnaca Airport coming home, what a nightmare! No queuing system at all, just utter chaos and no air conditioning but the reps. soon sorted it out. We can't wait for next year.

Me and my husband got married in...
10 / 10
Jul 2006, Mrs A Medley

Me and my husband got married in Cyprus in 2002 and stayed at the Olympic Lagoon. We all rated it so much that my sister got married there last year and again the whole party stayed at the Olympic. This hotel is the only place I have ever gone back to more than once and I would go back there time and again.
The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble and if you did have a problem (which was very rare and minor, it was sorted out straight away) The breakfast was excellent with something to suit every taste and meals were delivered to the poolside if you wished. We were upgraded to a junior suite on our last visit free of charge which I would definitely recommend as we had much more living space.
The pools were fantastic, with graduating depths which was perfect for our toddler to have a paddle. Only thing I can fault is the tour operator, First Choice who we traveled with first time round were fantastic, Thomas Cook not so good for organising weddings. Will definitely go back to the Olympic Lagoon again in the not too distant future!

Have just got back from a week's stay...
9 / 10
Jun 2006, Miss S Lloyd

Have just got back from a week's stay at the Olympic lagoon for my brother's wedding which also took place there. There were 17 of the wedding party staying there (including 4 children) and we all enjoyed it very much. The happy couple were given free champagne, fruit, robes and slippers as well as flowers in their room.
The wedding was absolutely fabulous - there was a choice of locations to hold the ceremony in the hotel - my brother and his wife chose the outdoor gazebo which had been decorated in white organza with balloons and flowers. All the chairs were covered in white and tied with bows. It looked stunning. The photographer made the most of the beautiful location, taking the newlyweds around the hotel grounds for photos by the pool, on bridges, in the garden etc.
The rooms were a little dated, but how much time do you spend in your room on holiday anyway? The mini-bar fridge was well stocked, but beware - they charge for items you put in there - daily rate £2.50. Also a charge for using the safe £12.
There are towels provided and also yellow ones for the pool which are changed every day. Get yours on the loungers early, as the best spots get taken very early on!
Choice of breakfast food at the buffet was vast - something for every taste. Restaurant bar was good too, and they will deliver lunches and drinks to the poolside.
The pools were the highlight for us - we made the most of them, they were great for the children too as the main pool is a 'lagoon' style so you wade in and the depth changes gradually like the sea. There were Jacuzzis at the edges and bridges and waterfalls all around. Very pretty.
Beach is a short walk across the road through another hotel's grounds. Shallow waters, but slightly rocky. Water Park within walking distance too.
Buses pass the hotel every 20mins, but there are taxis waiting there all the time and it costs about £4-5 for a trip into Ayia Napa. If there are a lot of you - then try and get the larger Mercedes taxi which will carry 7 people for £7!
Ayia Napa is very busy, bustling town (about 10 mins away by taxi), with hundreds of places to eat and drink. Best restaurants we tried were 'Sage' (stunning food, high class service at great prices) and 'Sapporo' (Japanese - very entertaining!)
If you like nightlife, there are endless themed bars and karaoke bars and clubs. Be prepared for the 'touts' who try and encourage you into each bar offering free drinks and two for one offers. They get on your nerves after a while!
Go to the Troodos Mountains to see the real Cyprus. Absolutely stunning scenery, traditional style villages, ancient churches and monasteries, wineries and lovely views.
Go to the Meze Tavern next door to the Olympic for Meze - 17 courses of traditional meat and fish dishes served with a smile!

Jun 2006, Mrs S Adamson

Wow what a hotel, it has everything the pools are amazing, they have a beauty therapy room, hairdressers kids club great food.
The staff are always willing to help we got married there and wow the wedding venue is beautiful set out side in a lovely wooden area with white drapes all round, white covered chairs with bows, balloons all matching in colour, hotel a manager was great (looks like a Caribbean venue).
Received champagne, flowers, chocolates, balloons, slippers, dressing gowns all FREE! Got upgraded F.O.C to junior suite my parents got upgraded to a bungalow the area is great only costs £4cyp in taxi to centre of Ayia Napa, great bar up road called kings arms owner there George is great and wow what a Sunday lunch they do, it is also a lovely walk to Ayia Napa centre but it is about 1 hour loads of shops etc all way there though, beach just over road less that 5 mins.
Will be visiting again next year this is a must visit hotel. This hotel is rated a 4* i would rate it at 5* they give you your own towels for pool side so don’t pack too many there fresh everyday.
