Dec 2005, Mr D Kuma

The apartments are clean and comfortable. As mentioned by others the Balcony is particularly spacious. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the morning for breakfast and in the evening for a glass of wine (weather permitting). The kitchen is small, however, is well equipped. Plenty of wardrobe space in the master bedroom. An excellent swimming pool on the 10th floor. The restaurant/pool bar and entertainment can only be described as average.
Puerto Rico is beautiful, however, your apartments are located in the heart of a tourist trap. I strongly advise you to hire a car and explore the villages and mountains of Mogan and San Nicholas. There is a fantastic restaurant in a town called Anguinine by the name of Cafedores - it's right on the harbour of this village and is well known by locals.
Overall, the apartments are clean, comfortable and well equipped.

I would definitely recommend the...

I would definitely recommend the Terraza Mar Sunsuites! First impressions when you arrive are very good. The reception area is very big and very clean, the staff are very helpful and check in takes next to no time.

Like most people going on a self catering holiday I was expecting the brochure to be exaggerating a bit when they gave it a 4* rating, but after seeing these apartments, they where definitely spot on! The apartments are huge, very clean and comfortable with lots of extras that you don’t always get on these holidays - Microwave, Kettle, Toaster, satellite TV etc. One of the best features about the apartments has to be the balcony. They are absolutely huge, all with - table, 3 chairs, 2 sun beds and 1 sun umbrella and a very handy wall rack for wet clothes (again not a usual fixture for self catering apartments, especially in Puerto Rico which can be quite basic).
To get to the commercial centre you literally have to walk across the road, take a lift to the ground floor and walk for max 3 mins (all on the flat) and you are there. I would definitely recommend these apartments for people with children, buggies etc as to walk anywhere, all steps are avoidable altogether without going out of your way. You really realise how lucky you are with your apartments if you take a taxi up the hill a little (some of the apartments are practically in the clouds!)
The beach is about 15 minutes walk away so maybe not the best for beach lovers, but, again it is a nice walk, all flat and if all else fails, everywhere in Puerto Rico costs on average €3 in a taxi to get around, so its a great option.
I gave these apartments a rating of 9 only, as the restaurant and snack bar isn’t great at all. It is too expensive compared to everywhere else in the resort and to be honest the food wasn’t great at all, the staff in the snack bar where also extremely rude.
I would recommend O'Sullivans directly across the road for a lovely breakfast, (real bacon n sausage and friendly staff) or else it’s worth the walk to the commercial centre.
I will definitely return to the apartments! Have a great holiday to anyone that is going!

Dec 2005, Mr J Sausage

If you want somewhere that you can meet like-minded people - this is the place. I had a great time. The pool environment in the day was the perfect antidote to the night's debauchery. Did anyone else think that the guy behind the pool bar looked like Paul O'Grady?
Milkshakes were good when they could be bothered making them. I highly recommend you pay avid attention to the Suncare representative called Liz. While her information was no more than an over-familiar sales pitch, the way in which it was delivered was sheer comedy genius.
For the money, you can't fault the Terraza Mar. I may go again one day...

Oct 2005, Mrs JA Cottingham

My husband and I have just arrived back from one of the best holidays we have had. We found Sunsuites Terraza Mar Apartments excellent.
They were very well equipped and reasonably clean. What impressed us the most was the balcony it was huge. Some days if we didn’t fancy the beach or the pool we could just sunbathe there as it had sunloungers as well as chairs & tables. We never had a single cockroach in our apartment but we were on the top floor. We never saw loads of cats either. The entertainment wasn’t fantastic but it wasn’t too bad either.
We found a really good restaurant called San Miguel. This is located on the ground floor of the Commercial Centre. They do fab steaks and pork steaks and huge portions. You can get a meal for two with drinks for under 15 Euros.
If you are looking for a good night with plenty of laughs then visit the Funny Boys, Located above the Chinese (eat as much as you want for 4.78 Euros)
This is a very professional show and the costumes are brilliant even better its free.
This is our 9th visit to the Canaries, 4th time to Puerto Rico. I would highly recommend the Terraza Mar Apartments and we will definitely be going back.

My husband and I have just returned...
5 / 10
Oct 2005, Mrs S Proudfoot

My husband and I have just returned from Puerto Rico on 11th Oct 2005, We stayed at the Terrazemar which had lots of great reviews and looked lovely in the pictures that we had seen, not so the case when we arrived.
On first impressions when we went into the reception to check in it looked really nice and clean, we where given an apartment on the 2nd floor which when we walked into for the first time had 2 cockroaches running around the bathroom and believe me this wasn’t the last of them. We reported it to our rep and she said the room would be sprayed with a chemical to get rid of them but they where there for the whole week of the holiday. My husband went to get into bed on our 5th night and there was one in his bed so we had to strip the beds to check for any more then remake up the beds and tuck the valance sheets up so that they couldn’t climb into our beds again, not a very nice way to spend your holiday as you on holiday to get away from all household chores and relax.
Cats where also a big problem in this accommodation, there were loads of them at the rear door of the apartments which is the quickest way to get to the shopping centre and nightlife, so we had to go past them about 4 times a day and you can imagine the cat droppings from about 20 cats that was lying around. So I suggest if you don’t like cats don’t go here.
On a better note our apartment was a good sized room, brightly decorated and a huge patio with table, chairs, parasol and 2 sun loungers which meant we could lie and sunbathe peacefully if we wanted to which was good.
The pool was also lovely, plenty of loungers and a separate kiddies pool with a little play park beside it. The pool bar Sullivans was very reasonable for food and drink, we ate there every morning and it was never more than 10 euros for the 2 of us to eat.
We loved Puerto Rico as it was very clean, lovely weather, some days too hot which is good for October, and would definitely go back but not to these apartments as we didn’t have a very good experience with them, but I’’m sure plenty of holiday makers have had a nice holiday in these apartments, we maybe just had a bit of bad luck with the cockroaches in our room. But I still didn’t like all the cats at the rear door anyway so I definitely wouldn’t go back to them.

My wife and I joined DWVC through, Incentive Leisure Group, while on holiday last year in Lanzarote. I see now that they have a sales person on the street in Puerto Rico, alongside the many other holiday club promotion lists.
By joining them we were given a free week in the resort at Puerto Rico. We added a second week to that and the total cost of the self catering 2weeks including flights came to a total of £750. Now, we saw the Airtours brochure and for one person it cost more than that for 1person.
Timelinx does all the travel arrangements for DWVC and they cannot be bettered as far as we can see.
A lot of things have been said about holiday clubs taking your money and giving nothing in return. I thought that at first but have now seen that DWVC can provide you with a better type of accommodation at a cheaper price.
Unfortunately several items need to be addressed at Terrazamar, the toilets in every apartment in whose occupants I spoke to were very smelly and nothing including perfumed candles and bleach and aerosols could make any difference for any length of time. There was no air conditioning in the apartments, and the freezer compartment in the fridge is only for ice cube trays. When you consider I had 4 pork chops,2lbsteak mince, 6chicken legs 4 large fillet steaks, Lorne sausage and black pudding plus 2packets of bacon, I had to cook it pretty quick, still I never lost anything. We ate the lot. The sun suites are located on both sides of a one-way road that leads up to the terraced flats from the shopping centre and back down round to the bus terminus and the taxi ranks at the fountain. The place is very good and we would go back but to different accommodation. Large sandy beach, ferries to the other islands etc. and shops restaurants and bars in abundance if that’s what your thing is.
I certainly wont decry DWVC to any person, and there is always the niggly doubt when you have to part with your hard earned readies.

My partner and I recently spent a week in these apartments. The apartments were very spacious and surprisingly luxurious. The balcony was massive and boasted a parasol table and sunbeds.
The apartments were very close to the commercial centre of Puerto Rico. The restaraunts in the commercial centre were largely similar and nothing spectacular. As expected, every waiter was desperately trying to get you into his very much unspectacular restaurant.
This resort is very much geared to the tourist. There is no evidence of a Spanish town or community- everything is completely manufactured.
I paid £250 for the week for the apartments and return flights from Glasgow. For the money, the holiday was great value for money.

May 2005, Mr D.J Burkey

My wife and I booked The Terrazamar independently and had a very enjoyable week.
Nice, clean apartment, just refurbished handy for commercial centre. staff friendly and helpful. Large pool area and plenty of sunbeds.
Refurbishment work still on going week 14/05/05 - 21/05/05. Pool was open, but bars closed, until pool bar reopened 20/05/05. This was no problem as all facilities were available at sister apartments, Sunsuites, across road.
We will use the TerrazaMar again.
Good, on time flights with Mytravelite from Birmingham.
Transfers by resorthopper.com. Shuttle transfer for two £40 return.

These apartments are highly recommended. Fantastic balcony, had a lovely holiday. the centre of Puerto Rico is very commercial, we tried to avoid at all costs. It is such a shame that tourists take over what could’ve been nice area. Great weather so just needed to lie by the pool and go on dolphin trips. If you head to the restaurants along the beachfront there is the best place to eat - La Paloma. Superb (proper_ food, bit more pricey but it is definitely worth it. It was this restaurant and Terraza Mar apartments that made our restful holiday.
