Just returned from two weeks stay at Sunsuites Royal. The apt was one of the best we have ever stayed in.
With two boys 14 and 9 we still had loads of room also separate (well equiped) kitchen. The balcony was huge with a great view. We were on the top floor no resort noise! Puerto Rico is built on hill so be prepared to climb a lot of steps. Would be a nightmare with buggy.
Complex was very good, maid service excellent . There were 3 pools to chose from although we stuck to middle one as this is were all the games took place. Also bar & restaurant were here.
Big piece of advise stay well away from Commercial Centre. Other than going to good supermarket the rest would do your head in. Go a bit further to eat down at the bay. Also take a trip to Mogan its really nice. Also if you want to waste a morning go on a trip to Anfi! NOT!

I'm 16 and have to say anyone thinking of going here its absolutely amazing!! Perfect for families with teenagers as the centre is only a 5 minute walk from the apartments and it has everything from restaurants to bars and clubs for both older and younger people. The best holiday ever by far, strongly recommend it!!!

These apartments are ok! They are very clean and the rooms are a good size (the balcony is huge and the shower is good)! However, the rooms have no air conditioning and although they have fans, the electricity needs your room card, so as you can imagine the rooms are very hot when you first walk in.
We had to keep the curtains closed all the time to try and keep it cool. You can hire an air conditioning unit but it was very expensive (130 Euros a week plus 70 Euros deposit).
The pool area was nice but there was never any beds. In your room there is a info pack stating that pool staff will remove towels left on beds. That's rubbish! Two days in a row we sunbathed on our balcony as we couldn't get beds (there were only 2 of us). The annoying part was that on some days there wasn't many people there, just loads of towels. I know this happens everywhere you go, but this was the worst place we have been.
Our balcony had two sunbeds, table and chairs but it over looked a building site. The staff on reception could speak English very well but wasn't very friendly. Hardly ever even smiled. Internet was broken most of the time, so don't rely on that either.
On a positive note however, the staff around the pool bar were very friendly and your room was cleaned on a daily basis.
If you want somewhere to rest your head then this is ok because it is close to the main centre without you hearing any noise. I'd give this 4/10 for the cleanliness and location. I know this is very different to what others have written and I was shocked too, maybe it was just a bad week but I wouldn't go back again.

Excellent holiday, brilliant accommodation, gorgeous weather.
As most places parts of Puerto Rico are grubby and tacky but the terraza mar is spotlessly clean and the rooms, balconies and pools are fantastic. Pool bar serves nice food but not many options.
Amadores beach is 3 euros in a taxi and is stunning - much prettier than Puerto Rico beach.
Best restaurants were da pinnochios, el toro and pescador II (this is opposite el toro).
We will definitely be going back again - 10 out of 10.

Been back over a month now and I am still missing Gran Canaria. What a holiday I had. Must be the best holiday so far. Everything was brilliant. Puerto Rico is a must.
Location: Although the hotel is a distance from the beach, it only takes 5, maybe max 10, minutes to walk to. The beach small but if you walk past the beach further down towards the marina you can take a nice walk along the coast where you are quite high up so you can get some nice photos. The walk will take you around to Playa Amadores.
Hotel: Excellent, reception is good. Hotel staff very friendly. Rooms cleaned daily except Tuesdays and Sundays, as if I remember the maids are off them days. Balcony is massive. You get two sun loungers and a table with chairs on your balcony.
Entertainment: Better than excellent, Although every entertainer is very good at what they do, one of them stands out and that entertainer has to be Daz. What a bloke, he will become more than just an entertainer to you, he will become a friend. He made my holiday what it was and it was excellent. Dani the kid’s rep is very friendly as well. Overall entertainment gets a big A+.
Food: Food selection is good, alot of restaurants in the commercial centre. Also there is a Spar in the commercial centre as well as two Netto's.

Having had an amazing week at the Terrazamar at the same time last year, we decided to go back as we were so impressed with the cleanliness and efficiency of the hotel.
However, we were disappointed to find that the standards that so endeared us to this hotel have sadly slipped.
Upon arrival we were placed in an apartment directly across from the Irish karaoke bar that is located opposite even though we specifically asked for a quiet room (we have a baby).
The room had obviously not been used in a while as it was very musty smelling and cobwebs were everywhere. The sheets we had been given were stained with an ominous brown liquid, there were ants in the main room and cockroaches in the bathroom.
We asked to be moved first thing in the morning and were finally given a new, quieter room at 1.30 in the afternoon. This room was also a bit grubby and the patio/balcony was covered in pigeon poo! I had to get a bottle of disinfectant myself and clean it as I could not let my son out there to play otherwise.
The incredible maid service we had last year had fallen by the wayside as our room was "cleaned" only once in our stay and to be honest I think a mop was just waved at the floor and that was it!
The resort itself has also become very tired...even just in the past year, everywhere seemed a bit rundown and grubby and the touting for your evening meal in the centres has become almost frenzied with shouting and insults about other restaurants being fired at you from all angles.
The saving graces are that there are far fewer Anfi timeshare reps (hooorah!!) and for a genuine welcome and amazing food, try Los Geranimos...a tiny little place squeezed between 2 large restaurants on the top tier of the central centre.. the service is second to none.
I wish this review could be a bit more positive but I believe honesty to be the best policy and I would not return to Puerto Rico...I’ll leave it to the young party goers that seem to be flocking there now.

Brillisnt! The hotel was lovely, immaculately clean. The ooms and pool (bar) were great.
Only thing which would make it better would be for the pool bar to be open later, other than that it was fabulous! I would recommend the hotel and resort to anyone.
Hope to go back soon.
If you are thinking of going to Gran Canaria definitely Puerto Rico, Terraza Mar Sun Suites.

Very good holiday. The Sun Suite Royal section to this hotel is very very nice indeed. People really aren't kidding about the balcony, it's huge!
The cleaners were exceptional, every day doing literally everything. Also Sun Suite Royal has its own secret pool on the 5th floor, we went up a few times and if we weren't on our own there were only a handful of people there.
I would strongly recommend sun cream, even if the sun is behind a cloud it will still burn as I found out!
The lucky men aren't really a problem, but I would suggest choosing somewhere to eat before you go out because the PR's are a bit of a pain.
Also recommend the Zig Zag Safari (although you don't see animals). It's not as bad as it's built up to be, it's not scary in any way shape or form but it was very good fun. Wear something old and brown though!
All in all a great place, although the resort itself is a little on the small side.

My husband and I have just returned from a one-week holiday in the Terrazamar.
They are the best apartments we have stayed in - wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.
The best bits - huge balcony, table and chairs, parasol and two sun loungers. A lovely private space for sunbathing. As the apartments are built into the hillside overlooking the resort, the apartments have a lovely view.
Very clean and tidy, well equipped kitchen with everything you need.
The brochures do not advertise air conditioning, when in fact it is available - we paid 36 Euro for the week - well worth it.
The staff were excellent - reception staff speak excellent English, were always very helpful with requests.
The reception area has a bar, small shop, bakery which is really useful, and internet access.
Lovely pool, with plenty of sun loungers, and a bar. Kiddies pool separated from main pool, looked good from a safety point of view as it's enclosed, probably good for keeping a close eye on your children.
Location - short walk to the main commercial area, via steps. Not close enough to be disturbed by noise at night. A 15/20 min walk to the beach and marina. Plenty of taxis available if you don't fancy the walk!
The resort itself is lovely, a nice relaxing place with plenty of friendly people.
Loads of good restaurants, and plenty of shops. Would recommend a boat trip to Mogan - it's a beautiful place, and the ferry trip is excellent value (£10 return from Puerto Rico) and a really good opportunity to see the lovely coastline. Try the submarine trip in Mogan - a bit pricey but fun.
Overall a fantastic holiday, would definitely visit the Terrazamar again.

We found the apartment fantastic as we have 4 children, one being 17 other 15 we had 2 rooms thankfully we were next to each other the balconies were huge with table chairs parasol and sun loungers you could stay there all day.
The entertainment well worth a visit trek up and down stairs into town but worth it.
Cant wait to go back in September 07.

We stayed here in August 2006. The apartments are very spacious with living area, separate kitchen, separate bedroom, bathroom with double shower and huge balcony with 2 sun loungers, table, parasol and chairs.
The pool area is lovely and spacious as well with lots of loungers and also a pool bar. The only real problem we had was the cockroaches that lived in our bathroom, however the hotel staff left a tin of "Baygone" to spray in the bathroom and the cockroaches disappeared after a couple of days.
The other slight problems were being unable to sleep due to the heat in the apartments at night, air conditioning would be a huge plus and also being put out your apartment at 12:00 when not getting picked up until 22:00, this is a long time to wait especially when there is not a courtesy room available, the only room available is a shower block downstairs from the pool which is just like going to any swimming pool.
Puerto Rico is a bit tired and in need of some upgrading especially the Europa Centre at the top of the hill but apart from that we did have a nice holiday and the weather was exceptionally warm - 35+ everyday.

You cannot fault these apartments! Myself and two friends stayed here 9th august for 2 weeks and had a fantastic holiday.
Apartments are spacious and cleaned daily (the cleaning staff seemed to spend ages on each apartment). All staff at the Terrazamar are lovely and very friendly. Nightly entertainment with Disco Dave cannot be missed and not to mention happy hour at the pool bar.
I was very impressed with Terrazmar and would recommend these apartments to suit all ages.
