Clean apartment in a lovely fishing village
from early50s-Scotland
The apartments are very clean, plenty of fresh towels. There is cable TV with a few British channels. Good shower, and a separate kitchen with fridge and microwave – the only negative was no oven. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. The pool is small but it never got overcrowded – although it was early June, don’t know what it would be like in July and August. We were self catering and didn’t use the restaurant, but was told by others that is was very good. Olhos De Agua is a lovely small fishing village with plenty of restaurants – but be aware of the LA CIGALE at the beach it’s very expensive they don’t show the prices. Cost 43.50 Euros - on the bill - for 2 beef stroganoffs, and 2 teas, but only gave us 1.50 change from 50 Euros. Any other night the bill was between 18-23 Euros, so expect to pay double if you eat there. The weather was excellent. There for 10 days temperature ranged from 26-32 degrees – although there was heavy rain one day by 4.30 pm it was 26 degrees. The beach is beautiful especially at night watching the sunset, but can get very busy during the day. If you fancy climbing the rocks – or you can walk about 20-30 minutes - you can reach the Falesia beach, which is much larger. Albuferia is also about 40 minutes walk – or 7 Euros in a taxi – with a much larger beach, and the Old Town which is well worth a visit. There is also of few other beaches on the way to Albuferia. We went to Oura which again was very pretty beach with plenty of sun beds and straw umbrellas – but the hill up from the beach is very steep and would not be suitable for people with walking difficulties. I would say if you’re looking for a quiet relaxing holiday Olhos De Agua is a perfect choice. Its mostly suited to couples and families.
Good buget rooms for a short stay
from manorpark
Just had three nights here and thought the standard of accomodation was great value, I booked through Lastminute and got a good price for a studio room, on arrival was upgraded to a one bed room apartment which was a nice size. Very clean, all the furniture in good order and a very nice bathroom with large walk in shower. it has a small kitchinette with a two ring electric hob that does take an age to heat up so not where I would stay if I planned on doing a lot of cooking. Nice big balcony with a side sea view and only a short walk to the beach (5-7 mins) the hotel restaurant is very nice and there are a few nice places to eat nearby, the area is fairly quiet not like the hustle bustle of Alburfeira but only a short taxi ride away. If you want a quiet break but able to visit somewhere busier then this hotel and area is ideal. MP
Brilliant Holiday!
from tryptych69
"Stayed in this hotel for 1 week at the end of august and had the best holiday ive ever had! The apartment was great-big living area-lovely kitchen-nice balcony-2 supermarkets nearby(that sell everything) and too many restaurants to mention-2 i will mention are a mexican ( Il Sombero) in the old town of albufeira where i had the most beautiful rack of ribs! but by far the best restaurant we ate in was the hotel restaurant where we were staying. The hotel pool was small but sufficient and the weather was glorious(90 degrees 6 out of 7 days). The portugese people were very nice especially the hotel staff and a little bar owner called Antonio who runs the bar california on the walk to the beach-Albufiera is a short taxi ride away (about 5 to 6 euros each way) and the old town is a bit further ( 7 euros ) but well worth a visit as lots of shops and bars to explore but to be honest me and my partner stayed in Olhos d agua nearly all the time as it was so quiet and relaxing-at least 4 out of the 7 days we were the only 2 people round the hotel pool (happy days). As im not a big fan of flying was also surprised that it only took 2hrs 30mins to get there and 2hrs 40mins to get back which is still a long time when youre counting every second!. All in all a fantastic holiday and will definately be returning to this hotel and who knows if the kids behave themselves i"ll bring them with me next time."
Lovely holiday
from lauram_8
We stayed her July/Aug 2008. We wanted a quiet relaxing holiday and that was what we got! Lovely hotel, not wowing, but clean, small and friendly. Rooms were good, great kitchen, TV had a few channels that were english. Pool small but nice. The area was very quiet, lots of nice restaurants and a handful of bars. If you wanted to stay out late you could. There are 2 supermarkets, one to the side and one out the back of the hotel and left (much bigger) beer was only 42p a bottle in there! The beach was ok, a bit busy but it was the height of season! We also ventured out to Villamoura which was about 20 euros in a taxi. Nice for a night out, great restaurants, more bars and the Marina with all the yachts. All in all a great holiday!
Super Holiday at the Oceanus
from camillus
Just got back from a week in the oceanus in olhos D'agua, and we just had one problem, it wasn't long enough! We had a brilliant time. Read all the reviews before we went and all of the positive remarks were true to form. The appartments were explicably clean and well furnished, the outside pools were to die for and snack bar beside them was perfect for the teenagers and even for the odd snack if we didn't feel like going out anywhere. The bar was quiet but a lovely area to sit and have a drink anytime, karoke on Friday night proved to be a good laugh and added to the week, Annibal the bar man was charming and a terrific host! The reception staff especially Jacqueline, were extremely pleasant and helpful, contrary to reviews that the reception staff were grumpy! Every one of them had a smile to greet us every morning and were very easy to approach with any matter. The Oceanus is situated in an ideal location, it's in a quiet cul-de-sac, with supermarkets, shops, chemists and bus stops all very close by. We have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to anyone and also have every intention of returning next year but for a longer stay.
Good hotel in a great location!
from rls_uk
We booked 5 nights in this hotel from hotels4u and got a bargain price for it, so we weren't sure what to expect! However, it was great value. The self-contained room was perfect for me and my friend - a nice bathroom (large shower instead of a bath), a useful kitchen (with cutlery and pans etc supplied), a sitting area with table and chairs and two armchairs, a tv with euro channels, and a balcony - quite basic really, but more than we were expecting for the price we paid! Nothing extravagant at all (don't expect the free toiletries etc!), but we're quite easy going so it was more than fine for us and we were really pleased with the hotel. The only downsides to the rooms are that the towels and bed linen are only changed about once or twice a week, and that there is no cleaning at all on a Sunday. I was a bit surprised and not particularly happy when I first read that at the hotel, but it didn't actually bother me though - you get given two towels at a time, so if you take one or two of your own that would be plenty (and you can even take a spare pillow case if you're that fussy!). The hotel and the room were still very clean though. There's a swimming pool, which is fairly small but fine for a splash around, and several sun loungers and umbrellas by the pool. There is a supermarket right near the hotel where you can buy very cheap bottled water and a range of other things. The location is lovely - 5mins or so walk to the sandy beach, quiet location, and a good choice of restaurants all near to the hotel. We found the locals to be very friendly, and shop keepers/waiters all spoke good English. The hotel restaurant was nice for our first night - quite pleasant. We would also recommend the nearby Ambrosia Nectar and the Restaurante Olhos de Agua restaurants, which are both quite near the hotel. We would not recommend the restaurant right by the beach on the right hand side as you go down the road for dinner, as it was the most expensive meal we had and unfortunately the worst. There is not much to do here, so if you like lots of sight-seeing then be warned! But if you're happy to spend your mornings by the pool, have some lunch, go down to the beach, then go out for dinner in the evening then it's ideal. Might not be the best beach location for people with restricted mobility, as the road to the beach is quite steep and not the smoothest but you could take a longer way round which isn't so steep. Taxis are a bit difficult to book/call and the hotel charges 1 euro to call a taxi for you, but a taxi rank is really near instead - we used it twice and waited about 10mins each time for a taxi. We went to Albufeira by taxi (about 5 euros each way) for a day trip, which was ok, but we preffered staying at Olhos as it was much nicer! The area is quite quiet, and generally speaking the hotel was also pretty quiet, but one evening a nearby bar had their karaoke evening too loud, and on our last day there were some noisy younger people by the pool in the day. Not the quietest hotel ever, but I would still recommend it as we just wanted a nice and peaceful break to have a good rest in the sun - and for that we found this hotel to be ideal for us! I'd definitely go back.
Lovely little Hotel and village.
from Steward737
Booked through Hotelopia. Read good reviews, all correct, The aparthotel was spotless, lovely staff and right in the centre of the village. The restaurants in the area all seem very good and so reasonable. Many offered the traditional portuguese specialities, fabulous! Would recommend Cabrita, and Calheiros, Lovely food. The local people are so nice, very soft spoken and friendly. The hotel is a 10 minute walk downhill(steep) to a lovely beach, with plenty of cafes, bars & shops. The best beach is Marie Luisa, a little further down the coast, a 10 minute walk and then a flight of steps, follow the signs to the tangerrine restaurant and keep going, it's worth it. The resort is 10 minute drive to Albufeira old town, 6 euros taxi fare, or by bus. Ask for a room overlooking the pool, as the main road at the back is a bit noisy
Excellent value for money
from Davies35
We have just got back from staying at the Olhos D'Agua Aparthotel. We only booked it 4 days before departure and didn't really know what to expect. But was very surprised when we walked in to the reception to check in - All the floors were in Marble and very clean when we went up to our room we were so impressed, wasn't expecting a room like it especially for a 3star accom. Had a really nice dining and living area with a spacious kitchen, the bathroom was really nice aswell couldn't fault it. The staff were excellent couldn't fault them one bit If you do stay here i would recommend going to the beach there wasn't much atmosphere around the pool area. The beach is less than 5 minutes walk In the evening if you want a chilled out meal and few beers once again pop down to the beach front as there are a couple of really nice fish restaurants but if you fancy something more busier jump in a taxi to Albufeira which only cost 4 Euro each way Enjoy because we did
High class self-catering
from youngfemale
Just back from here..We got such a good deal on this place so i wasn't expecting much. How wrong i was!! There are 2 bay trees at the doorway with a long canopy (very classy start). Reception area and most of aparthotel is done in marble. You can rent a car from reception or book a massage! It has a popular restaurant. The bar is small but there are so many in the area (this place is centre of town/village). We got a corner apartment (201) - nice to have side window for extra light and a view of sea. Beach is 5 min leisurely stroll. Big balcony with patio furniture. Kitchen fully equipped with new appliances. Can see supermarket from window. 2 twin beds can be shielded by a screen during day. Extremely spacious overall. Spotlessly clean (cleaners came every 2nd day with fresh towels & linen). Tv also which i thought a big bonus (sky news, english channel with CSI & movies etc). Excellent power shower (also not expected in self-catering) with granite tiles and stone drying area. Quiet, private pool area with unusally comfortable recliners. Poolside bar. Remember this is a 3* + accomodation - you have nothing to worry about when booking this aparthotel.
Worth a visit
from Travelling_Fox
Stayed here in 2005, then it was a good hotel but can't vouch for it now, it's a short walk into the village where you will find restaurants and bars and very good beach, the rooms were large and very clean and we had a small t.v with sky news etc It had a small kitchen with all the bits you would normally find with self catering and even a microwave, this was good because we tended to make breakfast and then eat it on the balcony , the pool was noce and the hotel restaurant served good food, try the pork on hot marble, not sure what the Portuguese name for it is though.

We had a fabulous time at this resort. The Olhos D Agua Aparthotel was excellent. The receptionists were all very helpful and the female receptions were very friendly. We ate at many restaurants and found them all to be of a good standard. One or two stood out as being... more
