my family have been going to la sirene for aprox 18 years now, and have just returned home 26/04/2008 again from another great holiday i have introduced a party of five different families this time around and have all agreed to book again. as with most holidays yes you do get the odd mishap but have always found the staff at la sirene to be polite and forthcoming . My children are 22-20-15 and still want to return with us! The site speaks for itself as it is always fully booked!
we'll be back......

I've recommended La Sirene Campsite at Argeles to a number of my friends. I booked with TOP SUN. There are lots of tour operators on this site but TOP SUN seemed to be the cheapest. They say all their mobile homes are less than 5 years old, which is newer than some of the larger , more expensive companies, and you still have full use of all the site facilities, activities, children's club, swimming pool etc. We've had two wonderful holidays in Argeles; we've been in low season and have still found lots to do. The pool's heated and my children (9 and 11) loved the slides into the water. We've hired bikes on site and have had fun cycling into the town and along the beach path. They even liked the evening entertainment - the highlight of which was playing bingo in French.

WARNING- DO NOT GO TO THIS SITE!! We booked with TOP SUN HOLIDAYS and looked at the reviews, after inspection we realised that we were going to a place where people had poor holidays. We informed TOP SUN of our problem but they would not accept our concerns and told us that we may just have a good time and give it a try! So we had no other choice.
Well I have to say that the holiday at Hippocampe and Sirene was very interesting to say the least. On arrival the campsite looked good but at close inspection it was of poor service - litter on floors etc. When we checked in at reception the french lady was very pleasant, we thought the stay may be ok regardless of a bit of rubbish. However, we asked for our bedding and she said come back in 3 hours! We found our mobile home on pitch 94 and it looked ok but not as upmarket as other campsites we had stayed at. The pool complex looked great from a distance and my 5 year old daughter was excited. On close inspection it looked dirty and poorly maintained. The grass around the pool was the only place to bathe and mixed in with water from the pool which turned into a lovely slimy mess of mud!
We later went to reception for our bedding and towels, they were short of a set of towels that we required but we made do as we had no other choice. We later went to look at Sirene and had to wait over half an hour for a snack at the cafe area, the staff were incredibly rude and ignored us until we asked why we hadn't been served after 10 minutes at the counter. They treat everybody I could see that was english with pure hatred! I've never been on holiday to find such awful service from staff that show total disregard for everybody that they meet. It really is that bad and my previous concerns were only too evident to see.
We decided that we would like an ice-cream after our meal and went to the ice cream counter, an oriental looking women served me and I asked for some 1 euros in change for my little girl for the slot machine 'in french' and I got the most angry fuming look as if I'd put her out of her way! I do speak fairly good french so it wasn't a language barrier. We took the hint and decided enough was enough and went our own way after that and decided to go off camp to eat and entertain ourselves, we used the accommodation only.
When Saturday the 1st Sept came around we were surprised to see an english lady from the reception literally banging at our door, I immediately opened the door, she did not have the decency to say "good morning" but said " do you know that you have to be off site by 10am?" my reply was "yes I do" in a surprised manner since it was only 9-15am and was in the middle of packing! We checked out at reception at 9-55am to find the english lady we previously met was having an argument with some french residents and it appeared she had won her argument yet again the french left understandably surprised. I gave her the keys and as true to form her reaction was a similar one "is the caravan clean?" I replied "yes" she then went on to list all the other checks as if I was some junior member of her staff! I couldn't be bothered to let this women spoil our family holiday so I decided to leave, I did turn around and mention that we had no kettle throughout our stay and rapidly and aggressively she answered "we don't provide kettles"! That seemed a quite stupid remark to make as there was a teapot and a caffetiere in the mobile home so how would you fill them? boil a pan? I did hear other peoples kettles boiling in the morning so it was just an excuse and a very foolish one at that.
We drove our car to Sirene with our food we had bought from the supermarket and our luggage, went into reception and gave our name. The receptionist said that our mobile wouldn't be ready until 4pm and that we would have to come back some 6 hours later! we mentioned that we had stayed at Hippocamp with Top Sun Holidays and that we had to get our food in the fridge/ freezer but her reaction was the same as she shrugged her shoulders, she did say try coming back at 1pm. The food was ruined and we ended up having to throw approx £40 worth of food. By this time I realised we were not welcome here and that it would be foolish to stay, we decided to drive to a real 4 star campsite called 'camping la brasilia' in Canet Plage. We have stayed there twice before and always made to feel welcome, it is spotlessly clean and the facilities are excellent, we stayed with eurocamp from the 1st till the 4th September instead of at Sirene and it was worth paying the extra 220 euros.
I would like to point out that our holiday was doomed from the start and you definitely know about the many unhappy customers that stay at those 2 sites as I mentioned before we went there. The staff at both Sirene and Hippocamp are appalling and the facilities are poor. I would put Sirene especially on a par with some of the roughest parts of Blackpool in high season and that takes some beating.

We stayed for 7 nights in a "supanova" caravan with Keycamp. We paid £899 for 7 nights and expected a reasonably large caravan with a decked patio as shown in the brochure. What we got was a rather small (for the money) caravan with no decked patio on the periphery of the camp. We were initially very disappointed and would advise against hiring a caravan through Keycamp as they are over-priced.
As for the camp - it is superb. Lots of activities, a great pool area (although the water was ice cold), an incredible stage area (with the production of Lion King the highlight of a very impressive weeks entertainment) and good restaurants and bars.
I would recommend this camp to anybody who has children from 3yrs to 16yrs. There is something to do for everyone.
I would not recommend hiring a caravan through Keycamp. We were very disappointed with the size (compared to images and footage on the website) and standard of cleanliness when we arrived. During our stay we noticed that the caravan are cleaned by the young reps on site - who are very friendly and helpful but not experienced cleaners - and it shows!
In summary - the 7/10 is for the camp not the caravan which we would give a 3/10. In fact when you walk around the camp it is the Keycamp caravans that look the cheapest and least maintained. My advice would be to contact the camp directly and hire off a private owner as there are numerous privately owned plots on the site with superb caravans and well maintained patio area.
Our party consisted of 2 adults aged 37 and a child of 6.

We had a fantastic holiday here this summer. The weather was fab and we hardly saw a cloud for the whole fortnight and considering the weather in other parts of France this year we were really lucky. The camp-site itself is really great and well run. I have never come across such a clean and well maintained site. The facilities were excellent, my kids especially enjoyed the teenage disco's and the scuba diving in the pool.
The beach is close enough to walk to but there was a free bus provided by the camp-site which was an unexpected surprise. We stayed with an independent owner (www.frenchmobilehomes.com) and I must say the standard of the accomodation was excellent. It was really nice to get the extra touches like cushions on the couches and nice lamps to relax with in the evenings. Much nicer than having to sit under glaring spotlights in the evenings. I felt that it had been kitted out with a little bit of thought rather than the standard inventory lists!
All in all we had a great time and the area itself was stunning, definitely worth getting a car and travelling around a bit. We have already booked for next summer with the same owner.

We went to this camp site at the last minute Aug/Sep and travelled with two teenagers and two toddlers. Accommodation was a 3 bedroomed mobile home. 1 shower room which was small compared to other mobile homes we have stayed in.
We have driven to France for the past two years and have visited some 6 sites in all.
This camp site is fantastic for teenagers. Large and very busy with plenty for them to do in and around the park.
A small "Noddy Train" stops right outside and continues on to town you have to buy a ticket but our teenagers loved the freedom this gave them. Fabulous professional evening entertainment (large stage area) with the likes of Blues brothers, Grease and Lion King shows. For the smaller ones there was a fantastic slide/ climbing frame park area with a wonderful sand park with running water great for getting dirty.
Outside activities all within walking distance are paintball, go carting, fun fair, horse/pony riding. To visit the local water park, which is great with heated pools, you'll need a car.
On the down side, we went at the end of season and things outside the park simply shut over night. This is very busy park and had to watch the toddlers all the time due to the volume of traffic that flows through the camp site. The swimming pool complex is fantastic but considering the weather was surprisingly cold and no sun loungers available. Fine if your moving about but not so if you’re small and can't swim yet!
On the positive side, beach is very easy to get to either on a free bus from the site, it's only a 5 minutes drive with a free car park directly on the beach and toilets, showers and restaurant, what more do you need.
Overall a great park if you have older children 5yrs +, but the traffic flow and the pool temperature did spoil it for us. On the way home we stayed in Chambord camp site and couldn't wait to jump into the heated pool! I'd advise you to get decking if possible with your mobile home here and one with a full sized fridge freezer to stock up at the local large supermarket much cheaper than on site.

Lively, large and busy campsite. Evening entertainment was very good with shows like lion king, grease, cats and blues brothers, though quite crowded. Two bar areas, one for families (could do with air conditioning) and one for over 18s.
Family bar area has a games room attached with the usual pool tables and computer games (so take lots of 2 euro coins). Teenage disco is situated behind family bar, so you can easily keep an eye on them! Good variety of drinks provided but bit pricy. Restaurant on site provides a variety of foods from sea food platter to pizza and chips. Pool complex is very good with different areas for different ages and abilities to swim. Also gets crowded. Pool kayaking, scuba diving and aqua aerobics are available to book. The children loved the slides. Grassy area around the pool to sunbathe, no sun beds so take beach mats to protect towels.
Campsite shop quite expensive but sells essentials, Carrefour supermarket about 2 miles away. Campsite bakery sells all the usual French breads and patisseries. Site has campsite kids activities, bike hire, sport competitions and free crazy golf, Excursions to Barcelona, Collioure and Andorra available to book on site. Small train every 15 mins takes you into Argyles (payable). Amusements, karting, water park, adventure centre and bowling nearby. Free bus to beach during high season.
Very well run site with activities for everyone. Bar, restaurant and reception staff very helpful and professional. We went with key camp but other holiday companies have mobiles on site, and the campsite has its own mobiles to hire. I would recommend you book air conditioned mobiles during high season.

This site is incredible! The pool is outstanding, the entertainment is out of this world! Shows are put on a few times a week and its like being at the west end!
Kids club facilities are super, the beaches can not be faulted, the crepes are delicious, the sun shines and the staff are really friendly! it is easy to get around if you didn’t want to bring the car, as a tram runs regularly into town and to the beach.
Colliour is a local town which must be visited as the views are tremendous! If you did want to go a bit further, Barcelona isn’t unrealistically far. You can even use the facilities of 2 other sites if you fancied a change! What more can you ask for!

It was absolutely fabulous! Entertainment was just incredible! With its own animation team it was like watching west end shows!
The kids clubs were super and gave us a chance to relax at the marvelous pool complex and a tram service going straight into the town or to the beach meant we didn’t have to drive! Local bowling alley, lunar park, go karts and horse riding!
The beach couldn’t be faulted and the weather was perfect! And as for the cuisine. Don’t attempt to diet whilst you are here because it is all far too delicious!

Fantastic campsite catering for families. The site has a fabulous pool area with many features and slides. There is plenty to do on the site and surrounding area. The site is overlooked by the picturesque Pyrenees mountings.
We booked with Vacansoleil but when we arrived we realised that there were other operators that used the site and had much better caravans to use, French life/ Camping life to name one, who also offer 3 weeks for the price of 2 at certain periods up to well into June.
The price with Vacansoleil was about £600 for the fortnight (including ferry). With French life it was £750 and that was with an extra week free.

As a family of 4- boy, girl aged 16-14 we had a fantastic time at La Sirene. We first went to this site in 2006 and booked through Keycamp. The caravan was OK, small and a long way from the pool etc. We had a fantastic holiday and decided to return, which we did in July/ August 2007, however this time we booked direct with the site. This is a MUST- so much money saved, plus we had lovely 3 bed air-con van for less cost, nearer all the facitilies.
This does mean you hear some noise from the disco, it didnt bother us at all- we slept on!
The evening shows are great, as is the food on site- booking a table a must.
The children had an amazing holdiay, they loved the pool, the night / social life for them was just what they wanted. In turn we had peace as children happy!!
The beaches are close by, either by the train outside the camp by as we did by car.
There is a nice large super market near by, for all the food you would ever need, and cheaper than the super market on site. But can't beat the lovely bakery on site- fresh every morning!
We will go back again, so lovely and the holidays have given this family simply wonderful memories, which are priceless.
My final advice is GO- its excellent for children of all ages, but be brave and book direct with the site- all easy just be ready at the end of October (as that is when they take bookings) and enjoy it.
What is better than happy children, lovely weather, nice food and wine, and being able to sit and relax on summer evenings- bliss!
