Best Western Hotel Marais Bastille

Booked this hotel for myself and my parents. It was their first ever trip out fo Britain-bless! As we were staying for 7 nights,price was a concern, so opted for a 3 star hotel instead of the usual 4 or 5 star. Was a bit worried about the standard , but was very pleasantly surprised. My husband and I stayed here for three nights in April. I had booked through Bookings and emailed the hotel to request a room with a view but not too noisy. They emailed me and suggested a room at the front of the hotel because the back of the hotel only looks onto other buildings. We were in room 55. A lovely view of the boulevard, very clean and although not huge it was really only a base as you are out and about for most of the day. Stayed her in February and was impressed by this hotel. I booked an internet special rate of 79 euros for a double room and was very pleased with what I got for that price. I am usually quite fussy and prefer to stay in 4 star hotels but the Marais Bastille was very nice and I had no complaints. It certainly met my high standards! Have just returned from a two night break here. I think some of the reviewers here are confusing this hotel with another Marais Bastille that is nearer the river (the two star Jardin de Paris Marais Bastille Hotel)- as I did not find many of the comments to be at all accurate. Run down carpets, stained bedding, 1 window that looked into a light well, no AC, rude service.. The only decent thing about the hotel was the location.

The B/W Marais Bastille is in a good location and you can easily walk to the river and Notre Dame. It is a short walk to the metro station. It is very clean and safe. It is not very fancy though. The rooms are small and the ones facing the street can be a little noisy. There is no air conditioning and you have to rely on a small fan to keep you cool if it is too noisy to open the windows. A fallback choice of hotel - I was nervous of trying this one out - but it was a fair price €110 p.r.p.n and while the room was small and somewhat old fashioned it was spotlessly clean and it "does what it says on the tin". Hotel staff were friendly and spoke some English. Easily accessable 2 minutes walk from the nearest metro - nice market (arts and crafts on saturday and food on Sunday) just outside the hotel. I would use this hotel again.

I went to paris on march 2005 and spent two nigths in this hotel. For those that are high quality persons is not OK, but for those who looks for a balance between price and location is perfect. Clean, good service and excelent location. Remember, there is no air conditioning. But the high floors rooms are fresh. I would recomend these hotel.

After browsed so many hotels in Paris, our eyes were caught to this hotel based on the following reasons: not so expensive, they have coffee/tea maker in the room and they are belong to the BestWestern international chain hotel. Though they don't publish room's pictures, we believed to the international chain quality and we booked for 2 nights in the end of June 2004. We were shocked when we got there.
