After visiting another campsite the week before, then moving onto TY Nadan i was apprehensive that it wouldn't be as good. However i was wrong!
This was the first time I had been to this campsite and I was very happy with the cleanliness and overall facilities offered.
The children loved the outdoor swimming pool and were always entertained.
My children loved the sports facilities, regularly going down on the evening and made many friends,
We used the takeaway often, the food was nice but you did have to wait quite a while, but it was worth it!
We used French Freedom and I was highly impressed. The service received was outstanding and the whole booking process took little time and my holiday was sorted immediately. The mobile home was in good condition and the couriers on site were efficient and friendly.
Overall I would say Ty Nadan is a great campsite. This is great for families or just a nice break from the UK!

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at Ty Nadan and were expecting the caravaning trip of a lifetime having read reviews and the adverts. We couldn't have been more wrong. We had pitch 97, that's in the trees by the river.Imagine our surprise to find that the next 2 pitches are normally used for the regular groups of kids with either teachers or carers supervising them. The shower block we had was constantly dirty, unsupervised kids hogged the showers and blocked the toilets daily. The water was never warm, we ended up driving each time on mass to the shower block at the top of the site for use of the shower facilities. Our pitch was not big enough, the website shows lovely spacious pitches which the top of the site has, however if you aren't lucky enough to be up there then it is a different story. We in fact couldn't fit our van and awning right onto the pitch, what was the point in the site asking in advance the size of your outfit. The washing up area had regularly overflowing bins and if any glass was broken it stayed on the floor for a good time. We were holidaying with friends who got the brochure type pitch, it was like 2 different campsites. The 3 main areas I have complained about are fairly impactive if you are camping or caravaning, staying in a mobile home you wouldn't notice. I would challenge anyone not to feel mugged at the bar though !!

We have just come back from Ty Nadan and it was wonderful! We stayed in a mobile home with Matthews holidays, it was very clean and the rep Bernie was excellent. The pools were great, very clean and we had no problems with queues and crowding. We were disappointed with the weather and if you like hot holidays, give it a miss! We had a few nice days but lots of rain. It does get cold and a bit damp when it rains as you are in the woods, we had the fire on! Take some long trousers and sweat tops and you will be fine. The bar area is good and there is a bouncy castle that can be seen from the bar so you can sit and have a beer while the kids have fun! We used the restaurant a few times and found the food to be good although the service was sometimes hit and miss. The takeaway was disappointing but maybe our expectations were too high, it you want junk food, burgers, etc then it is fine. I can recommend the hot chicken from there. We did some of the activities and found them to be fairly priced. My 6 year old loved Pony Ranch which was about 34euros for 2 1/2 hours. There is plenty to do and some great places to visit on days out (look at the cards in reception). I recommend a Sat Nav that allows you to put in map co-ordinates as some places really are in the middle of no-where! We have come home and are looking to book for next year, we will be requesting a sunny sited mobile home and not one completely surrounded by trees!

Wow is all i can say! This place is entertaining, fun, relaxing, a place to get away! Restaraunts, Supermarket, 4 pools, play area's and so much more in the site is amazing. A lovely river running around the welcoming fun camp site. Hygenic, Fun, Activities all around! Love the indoor pool ( 35 degrees) And 3 outside pools. Oh not forgetting the heated jaccuzi (Huge) and 3 FANTASTIC waterslides. I reccomend this so much!
We had a lovely pitch (BEST THERE!!) number 400. Next to the lake and ripples, near the hygine block (Toilets and Showers, Mirrors) All i can say is... BEST SITE IN FRANCE!! Downside... Evenings, can make it a BIT more but overall 10/10!

We booked last minute for a quick easter getaway. For a family of five we only paid just over £400 for ten days. We took the ferry to St Malo and then drove down in about two hours. The campsite is very beautiful and was fairly quiet. This meant we had many of the facilities to ourselves. Our french freedom reps Pat and Dennis were absolutely fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. We paid a bit extra for one of the cottage mobile homes and it had a great pitch right by the stream runnning through the site.
Out and about this area was superb like a picture postcard at every turn, Pont Aven and Quimperle are particularly gorgeous and both have some fantastic little restaurants. The weather was particularly kind, our reps said there had been lots of rain but in the 10 days we were there it only ever rained at night. We are planning on going back at spring bank holiday if they have some offer available.

We had a super action packed holiday in Ty Nadan. Our 3 children aged 11, 7 and 6 made lots of friends and thoroughly enjoyed all the facilities the site offered Splash attack and quad biking were favourites with the boys not to mention the adults!! The site was well run and not too big. The local village was lovely though we spent most of the 2 weeks on site. Altogether one of the best holidays ever and we have just booked to return again this year!

We were booked in for a 7 night stay with our tent. I notice that many reviews are for people with mobile homes, and as such this is aimed at people looking to stay with a tent.
The camp site is tightly packed in with mobile homes, static tents and pitches intermingled. The two toilet/shower blocks available for the majority of pitch tents are quite simply terrible. The water temperature cannot be adjusted and the temp for most but especially children is too hot. The showers are a disgrace with regards to size, cleanliness, and type. All except 1 was broken and water sprays out at all angles bar downwards. The toilets are open for all to see and the idea of privacy does not exist.
The camp site clearly markets and sells itself on activities available for all to do. Whilst there is no denying that there is a great choice, these for most families would become untenable due to cost. In addition, the small undercover area serves two badminton courts,a small climbing wall,2 table tennis tables amongst loads of campers squashed into one area all trying to do these games.
The pools are quite good, although some clever camera angles on the web page give a more grand impression. The outside pool is very cold and the indoor pool has huge queues and becomes so crowded it takes a while to navigate yourself over to the other side. The concrete blocked area comprising of the pool, bar, shop etc is in desperate need of paint and an overhaul. The bar appears to have little regulation with regards to alcohol and the age of the person buying it.
Finally, if you want grubby pitches, wasp catchers on all pitches, loads of unregulated noise at all times, dirty toilet/shower blocks then this is the place for you with a tent!
On the other hand, I strongly reccomend Parc Des Allicourts in the loire.

My wife, son and I had an excellent time. Coincidentally 4 weeks after booking to come to the site (for the first time) there was a report in the Independent newspaper which put Ty-Nadan as one of the Top 50 Camping/Caravanning sites in the World. Therefore it set an expectation level before we got there.

A beautiful site along the river with lots to do. The arranged activities are excellent especially the canoeing and riding but book these when you arrive as they are very popular.
The site is very clean and well organised and the staff are very helpful. The shop is well stocked and the restaurant is fine for a simple meal.
The pools got very crowded but the indoor pool was excellent for cooler days.

Had a brilliant time here this summer. Plenty for the kids to do on site with lots of day and evening entertainment for all ages.
Some of the organised activities were a bit pricey but there was lots of choice if you wanted a busy holiday. There was a good sized indoor and outdoor pool which was great as the weather wasn't too good.
My 14 year old didn't want to leave she'd had such a good time. The site was well situated within easy reach of many lovely towns.

Ty-nadan is an excellent, pretty large campsite which, as long as you get the right pitch, is an absolute joy. One of the key reasons for booking there was the amount of adventure facilities and things to do there - partly because we took 3 lads (8, 15 & 16 yrs) and partly because - let's face it - this is Brittany and who ever knows what weather you get!
As mentioned in other reviews, I would say that the site varied between 60% Dutch, with 30% Brits and 10% French/others (the first week of the summer hols) and changed to about 50% Dutch/40% Brits/10% others by the second week.
The campsite is rectangular with the river bordering 1 side and 1 end, and a road along the other long side. The river is shallow enough for kids to play and fish, but deep enough to kayak - I would recommend the kayaking (booked for 14 euros pp - it says an hour but I would say closer to 90 mins actual paddling) - great fun.
The ropes in the woods (I would call it "Go Ape" as that's what we have by us in the UK) is excellent, and if you have kids 6-10 yrs and want their confidence building, book this (12 euros) as the wires are only a metre off the ground but they still go through the full carabiner disconnect/reconnect process which makes them feel really grown up - the final zip wire run (3 goes) is about 2-3 metres high, but they are loving it by this stage!
There are quads/pony rides/indoor and outdoor rock climbing/paintballing - well, check the website, it is all really good.
Definitely take advantage of the kids "animations". there is something every day for a couple of hours, included in your camping charges. This year there were 2 belgian girls running it, they changed effortlessly from English to Dutch to French and were superb with the kids. Example of animation: 2 hour treasure hunt where the kids find sweets around the site and all get free soft drinks as well - my youngest loved it.
If you have teenagers, prepare to lose them for the evenings/nights - there is a great social scene for them - disco/bar and even a campfire each night, and my two eldest were VERY impressed with the dutch girls! Oh, prepare for your teens to spend 2 weeks in France and come home speaking Dutch.
Basically, this campsite gave us something we tried so hard to get but thought we wouldn't - a feeling of being abroad but not so French that our kids would find it hard to mix, a campsite that had no union jack shorts brigade, somewhere that was clean, friendly (the Dutch really are lovely people and so were the French - sorry, Bretons - we met) and somewhere that was as weather proof as possible - Ty Nadan did all of this.
Tips:
Positive: (I can only talk from a tent point of view by the way) If you can afford it, go for the big pitches - not only are they massive (we had a 5x5.5 m cabanon tent, extension, 3m square gazebo AND parked the car alongside! Not only this but the big pitches are usually in the best part of the site in my opinion (between the new toilet shower block and the kiddies play park or down by the river - go for something in the 440-450s pitch numbers)
Use the free animations - they're cracking for the kids.
If you want a quieter part of the site, see above for pitch recommendations, but be prepared for a longer walk (3-5 mins) to the main shops/bar/pool
The indoor pool is nice and warm with a great slide for the kids.
If you like your cider, it's the same price in the site shop as the supermarket (nothing else is mind!)
Go to the Devil's rocks nearby, fantastic clambering fun
Quimperle is a small but pretty place 5k away
Carnac and Pont Aven are both well worth a visit.
If the beach is your thing,(and it is ours) the best by far is one of the beaches at Le Pouldu, called Le Kerou - use the right hand part of the beach by the rocks - definitely the loveliest and safest for kids I've ever been to, anywhere (and we live in Devon!) Take the D49 from Quimperle for about 20-25 mins. If you like to keep fit, the forest on the D49 has a huge fitness loop with 21 different obstacles (turn right off the D49 at the Roman Pillar just as you hit the forest).
Shower before 09.00 if you want them all to yourslf. You wont need loo roll but take sink plugs and hand wash soap.
Use the local knowledge of the reception staff for things to do - they are great at recommending stuff - my only regret is that we didn't mountain bike - there are some great short and long (40k plus) distance purpose built cycle tracks, i.e. like the one upriver from Hennenbont.
Disadvantages: The pitches can vary wildly - some of them - epecially closer to the main bar/pool areas, I think I would not have been happy with - small, dark, hilly - they are nearly all mobile homes though. Don't panic though, most mobile home pitches are lovely - I would say 5% of the pitches I would personnaly not want.
I wouldn't want to be really close to the main areas - teens are noisy (but good natured) until 2 am around the bar/basketball court.
The outdoor pool area is really just a small pool and some slides, the indoor is good but expect pretty raucous kids having lots of noisy fun (good on 'em).
Shop on site is pretty expensive and so are drinks, but that's no different to any other campsite.
There were a couple of French schoolkid groups there, and a couple of kiddy play areas that can get noisy if you don't want that - I reckon if you asked to change pitches they'd be okay about it.
Showers can sometimes be cold (not often though) and loo roll can run out.
Watch out for weaver fish on the sandiest beaches a couple of hours either side of low tide - they have a spike that can go into unshod feet - if it happens, go to lifeguard hut and they'll heat some water to put your foot into - gets rid of the pain (about like a bee sting) in 10 mins - they're used to doing this - best bet is get kids wearing neoprene shoes/crocs.Best way to avoid a sting is to "shuffle" your feet through the sand when you walk as it scares the fish away - you only get a spike if you tread down hard on them. Oh, and the rockpooling at Le Kerou is truly superb.
Overall, I don't know what you could do to find a better site - seriously, if there is one let me know! The only reason I've given it a 9 out of 10 is that I know if you had a rubbish position on the site it could alter your perception of the holiday.
Oh, and we had great weather - for 2 weeks, in Brittany - is this a record?!
