We took our three girls age 6, 10, & 14 to La Plage on 30th May for 5 nights, we traveled by brittany ferries from plymouth to roscoff, good crossing each way a lovley new ship from brittany. We had a 5 berth holiday home at La Plage very clean and modern. The indoor and outdoor pools were a great hit with the girls and the slides kept them busy. Set on a lovley wide sandy beach that you can walk in either direction. We walked along the beach and over the rocks to La Guilvinec a lovley fishing port town, after seeing the fishing boat return accross the sea from the beach we drove back to La Guilvince at 4.30pm to see the spectical of around 20 fishing boats of loading their days catch. Many fish shops and reaustrants in the small town. We had fine weather and a mixture of pool, beach and beach, pool we had a relaxing holiday. We did not sample any of the sites food though it looked a nice. We played crazy golf basket ball and much to do to keep you busy. Will be going back next year in June. The time of year that we went was very quite I guess it would be a lot different in the summer. Free wi-fi a bonus

My husband and I spent 12 nights at Camping Village la Plage at Guilvinec in June 2005. We stayed in a static tent and loved every minute of our holiday. The sun shone, which helps, but the campsite location next to the beach was amazing. We could hear the sea from our tent when we were in bed at night and went jogging along the beach in the morning. We saw glow worms in the sand dunes which was a great experience!
The campsite was well laid out with very clean, modern shower/toilet blocks and a great washing up area for pots too. It's a very quiet area, but a good base for visiting, Quimper, Locranon, Concarneau, Benodet,Pont Aven etc.. all lovely places to go.
You can easily walk from here into Guilvinec where there was a lovely Cafe called Olivers. We had lunch there a few times. The other way you can walk/cycle to Penmarch and beyond.
We hired bikes from the campsite one day, which were reasonably priced compared to other sites.
The pool was lovely and we swam in it every day. A great slide too. Looking at recent photos on the website the pool complex has changed a lot and now looks even better!
The beach was beautiful and safe for swimming.
The campsite shop was great for fresh bread and pain au chocolate each morning and the restaurant was very good value for money with an excellent menu and very attentive staff. The seafood was delicious!
The bar was ok, but never very busy as we went in low season. We preferred to take a bottle of wine and a blanket to the beach and watch the sun set.
All the campsite staff were very friendly and helpful. It may have changed in the 5 years since we went, but we loved this site.
We have visited the area twice since to different campsites, but to me this one was the best. If you are a party animal it isn't for you, but for couples or families who enjoy the outdoor, quiet life, with wonderful scenery and beaches, I would highly recommend it. I have really happy memories of this holiday and hope to go back one day.

We had a fantastic time with our 4 children (10, 8, 6 and 4) staying in a Canvas caravan.
The reps were very helpful, especially as we changed our return ferry destination. The campsite is well laid out with a great playground.
The pool facilities are not huge but in low season, adequate. My children loved the water slide.
The beach is a 10 minute walk, it was beautiful, a long stretch of golden, gently shelving sand. When the sun shone (which it did every day) you could almost imagine you were in the Caribbean! And you could always find a space.
We loved it so much we went two years running.

Agree with earlier comments about the packed bar, the entertainment in the evenings and the dust/sand being trailed into the caravan.
However why do you need to be entertained? Why not relax with the neighbours around the caravan?
I went with my 7 year old daughter, and we had a great time. She enjoyed meeting other kids around the pool during the day, the independence of being able to go the site shop unsupervised (no way I'd let her do that on a large site, and anyway I could quietly watch her from the pool!)
Also the long (long long long) beach where she could go rock pooling. I just enjoyed everything about the place - the long walks on the beach to Guilvinec port (couple of miles) and Penmarch (similar distance), secluded location off main roads, therefore safe for daughter, not a small site but very friendly and its location in Brittany is remote from most of the very busy places.
It did help that we met up with family in the second week, and the kids had a whale of a time.
If you want a busy disco holiday then don't go there, however if you have young kids and want them to be safe and enjoy being out on the beach then it's great.
Note on the weather; later in the season (mid August onwards), you can't guarantee the weather, and when we were there we had our fair share of rain.
But we didn't let it spoil the holiday, went swimming when it rained, sunbathing and out and about in the better weather. Despite the weather I got the best tan in years - it wasn't very hot but when the sun was out the air was very clear.
Loved it so much am going again this year, booked directly with the site this time.
Here's hoping it'll be half as good a holiday, and now daughter can ride a bike competently we're taking the bikes and going to take advantage of the cycle tracks along the coast, rather than living in the car during the holiday.

This was our first family camping holiday. We are a family of 5. Kids aged 3, 5, and 7.
We found the camp absolutely ideal for a young family. Very safe secure and friendly.
Though the bar is off camp, so bring your own beer and wine and enjoy with neighbours!
The beach is lovely and just outside the back gate.
Bike hire is best from Carnac, and very cheap. Loads of safe cycling routes and brilliant beaches. I won’t bother suggesting any, they are really easy to find.

Sep 2006, Mrs A Morley

Site in nice position, very close to lovely beach. Pool area ok although no staff present in case of problems. Bar was expensive and ridiculous to offer entertainment in the evenings and provide a total of 8 tables which was the sum total on the night we visited. For a site of probably 300 caravans, this was plainly inadequate.
No entertainment at all provided on Sat night but couldn't amuse yourselves playing crazy golf etc as shop where you get clubs shut at 8 pm. Caravan sited on dust surface, probably from being close to the beach but meant you walked it in to your van all the time, the sweeping brush was never out of my hand!
Also my cleaning started as soon as we got there as I don't think the young lad 'reps' from French Life knew how to pick up a brush, on the day we left they were still in their beds at 10.30 - we'd paid a damage waiver deposit of 50 euros which we had refunded but without anyone checking so what was the point!
Kiosk next to pool supposedly to sell ices etc was never open even though it was the height of season. Our van decent enough but we'd booked the most 'spacious' to sleep 8 people, luckily there were only 4 of us, any more and we'd have been tripping over each other! Found living/dining/kitchen area quite small and double and bunk bed bedrooms extremely small.
On the positive side, takeaway food was tasty and well cooked, the restaurant wasn't bad and the shop was ok and sold quite a good range of items. Guilvinec town wasn't bad, the big market on Sundays is an experience, very busy but lots to see, we bought some cheese, pork, fruit etc although we did find things expensive. We got fed up with the food, everywhere we went it was chips, chips, chips, pizzas or salads. No veg was ever served with anything.
A lovely place to visit is Locronan, near to Quimper. It was extremely pretty with some lovely quaint shops, well worth a visit. A boat trip on the River Odet is nice although was a bit chilly day we went. Aquarium at Audierne was very enjoyable and kids are free if you arrive before lunch! Our kids also enjoyed zoo at Pont Scorff near L'Orient. Staff at L'Olivier restaurant in Guilvinec were very friendly and the waiter speaks English!
On the whole we enjoyed our holiday but I would say we were disappointed with the site and with some parts of Brittany which seemed dead and run-down.

It was great except there’s nothing to do for teenagers during the day. Also the bar gets very busy at night time. However don't be fooled into thinking its rubbish because all the reps are all a great laugh and make the holiday even better and I loved it. Shame about the weather, it gets worse as the season go's on! The food was good too especially the chips.

The location of the campsite is fantastic, right on a beautiful beach. Only a 3 - 4 min walk away from the sea and sand!
Local area is lovely and gorgeous seafood!
Only downside was that the children's pool is dangerous - very deep and extremely steep sides so toddlers were chest high in the water and couldn't get in/out themselves. There was dead mouse in the pool one day and human waste another - hadn’t been cleaned before opening to the residents! Adult pool smallish but adequate. Slides OK.
Takeaway food was lovely but we were at the end of the season and it closed early! Bar was expensive - far better to get some cheap booze and lovely fresh prawns from the supermarket and socialise round caravans!
