We have stayed on this site twice in the last two weeks and can only describe it as excellent. We stayed on our first night and last night as it was very handy for the Ferry. The site had good size pitches with good clean facilities including a swimming pool. The staff were very . We will stay again

We have been 4 times over the years, soon to be 5. Going again in august for 14 nights. We always book through the Camping and caravan club because the pitch sizes are huge.Caravan, awning, pup tent, car and still plenty of room around. The pitches are all separated by bushes so whats yours is yours. The campsite is always clean, tidy and cannot be faulted, the wash blocks are spacious and always kept clean. The site isn't a one for you if you want night life but the relaxed atmosphere and nice surroundings on the patio in front of the bar cannot be beaten. The food in the restaurant is good and plenty of choice, the take away next to the shop is also good. The shop is basic but sells the essentials. The pool area is big enough that it never gets over crowded and is gated so little kids can't wonder off. Over all a nice place to enjoy a relaxing holiday.

  • Advice: Get out and about. Too many people pass this area with out enjoying what it has to offer.

Thank you for your review. The food served in our take-away is 'fast-food' so we do use a microwave. Cooked meals are available in the bar, and there is a restaurant just behind the bar called 'L'Auberge du Colombier' which serves homemade regional specialities. There are also several restaurants in the small surrounding villages and a wider choice in the town of Calais. There are a couple of bars in the centre of Guînes, and a whole street of bars, restaurants and night-life in Calais, called Rue Royale, with a late bus service at week-ends. A drink in our bar doesn’t cost as much as a drink in Calais. The weather cannot be helped, and the climate here is very similar to the one in Great Britain.

We have just got back from our first camping trip with our two toddlers, 30 months and 16 months, and we can only say we loved it! We are already planning a return journey!
The campsite is nice and close to the ferry/eurotunnel ports which meant that the journey was relatively short and in the comfort of our own car with no baggage allowance to think of.
We arrived at the site to be met by our rep who showed us to our tent and as we drove through the site I knew we were onto a winner.
My first impressions were that it was a nice size, small but friendly and that's ideal with children. Each pitch seemed a fair size and the tents were set well enough back from the edge of the road. There were plenty of trees to provide shady areas.
On the site there were several shower blocks to choose from including one that is heated. Some are unisex and some single sex. There was also plenty of provision for babies with plastic baby baths on hand in all the blocks and even a built in baby bath in one block in it's own cubicle. All toilets were english style.
There was a restaurant, bar, takeaway and shop on site plus lots of slides and climbing frames for the children. It was nice to sit out having our dinner knowing that they were safe and happy playing nearby. We found the shop a bit pricey and you had to order your baguettes and croissants the evening before, however in the town was an Aldi and on the outskirts there was a larger supermarket, Carrefour and a Lidl.
We used the swimming pool several times, it seemed very clean and there were plenty of sunlougers around. Due to the time of year the glass cover was over but I believe that in the summer months this is opened. There was also a toddler pool which was warmer and a separate flume into it's own pool.
Our tent came with everything we needed including blankets which were invaluable due to the cold nights being early in the season.
All the other campers seemed very friendly and even where language was a barrier there was always a smile and a good morning. The reps were also very helpful.
From this site were were able to go out for days exploring our highlight being a trip to Bruge (a beautiful Belgian town), Dunkirk, Lile, Boulogne (where there's and aquarium called Nasicaa good for the kids), and Le Touquet ( a very upmarket place with a beautiful beach and fab ice cream!)
However we had equally lovely days onsite and although we didn't get round to it this time the village of Guines looked lovely for a stroll around and we will definitely do that on our next trip.

just came back from a 3 night break at this holiday park, i booked this for its close proximaty to the port and with such high prices over the later parts of the year thought is must have everything, how wrong i was. initial impression was very small, mainly for the camper and caravaner on the edge of a roundabout, nothing like the brochure pictures. our accomodation was not ready for nearly 1 hour so we walked around the site and was back at the keycamp reception in less tha 10 minutes. later we went to the pool where all the people on site who were camping and caravanning were stripping off next to the pool area to get all i can describe as was a wash, we immediately got out and never went back in after that. best of all was in the early hours of sunday morning my eldest son woke up to get a drink only to find the curtain drop down near the mobile home door and the door itself proptly close, YES IT WAS SOMEBODY ATTEMPTING TO ROB US, an unsaid rule on a site is that you never steal from fellow campers but not in this case. looking out to the decking area our beach towels had gone, we searched for the theif but to no avail. reported the incident to the keycamp rep but as you can imagine, what is the point they cannot do anything about this. my family and i have been to sites all over europe and never had an incident of any kind. so if you do consider going BEWARE, put the outside light on and do not leave anything outside of any value. i would not go to the site again if it were free.

Thank you for your review. We are part of the Castel chain which is a group of well rated campsites in France. We are one of the cheapest in the group. Our entrance used to go straight out onto the main road which was very dangerous for caravans and motorhomes queuing up, so our entrance is just off a roundabout with a long path leading up to the reception which is much more practical, and safe, for visitors. You stayed with a tour operator while you were onsite and you should talk to your courier about any problems with the accommodation, and contact them via their website. Our mobile-homes are ready from 2pm. The swimming pool is cleaned daily, and I can assure you that ‘stripping off’ is not allowed in our pool. All the pictures in our brochure were taken onsite. We are not responsible for any theft onsite, and we recommend that you do not leave anything outside, as you would do anywhere.

This was a great destination. We...

This was a great destination. We travelled from South Wales to Guines (Le Bien Assise) using only public transport.
There were 2 adults plus another 16 year old/18year old/13 year old and 6 year old in the party.
We used P&O ferry service, very choppy journey but only took 1.2 hours (don't forget to add 1hour time adjustment).
At Calais ferry port we piled into a taxi which took all six of us and our luggage and took us directly to the resort. It took around 15 minutes and cost 46 Euros.
Upon arrival we were guided straight to our accommodation which was nicely located in a green quiet spot.
There was a gas Bbq waiting and a full set of good quality garden furniture plus a couple of very nice sun loungers.
Inside we were greeted by very modern layout, it was bright and airy with everything at hand except a TV (the only downside the kids said).Nevertheless we took our laptop and watched DVDs for that quick TV fix.
all the appliances were modern and easy to use. There was a great gas fire which warmed us up quickly.
Onsite, we made our way to the onsite Cafe/bar. It was a pleasant environment. There was a very relaxed feel to the bar, we all had a meal from the bar snack menu along with a glass a beer (well, it would be rude not to). the choices ranged from chicken strips in homemade cream sauce to the obligatory nuggets and chips...but there was a few different choices for all tastes.
a meal and a drink for six people cost a reasonable 60 Euros.
Next to the cafe/bar (which had sky news on and Wi-Fi ability for your laptops) was a basic shop. it sold locally produced preserves and battons/baguettes etc along with things for your bbq and the occasional toy too.
The best feature of the Camp was the indoor heated pool. Even when it was a little chilly outside the double glazed canopy kept it warm. There is an outside slide of a decent size and also another little very warm pool (all in viewing distance from each other) for toddlers. There are lots of loungers scattered around the water’s edge also.
There is also a wash block/laundry block/shower block (for campers and caravaners) games room with pinball and pool table.
we also used the full size tennis courts/volleyball pitch/outdoor table tennis tables. plenty for the kids to do.
We also had free use of the equipment that Eurocamp had in their offices for the rainy times, board games etc....NICE TOUCH!
There is a bus stop 5 minutes walk from the camp. Turn right out of the camp; go to the cross roads turn left. then catch the number 6 bus and it will take you straight to Calais Town for 1Euro each. BARGAIN! super clean, super friendly bus staff made it a pleasure.
When you get to town, look out for the little squarish yellow buses....these will take you to the beach quarter here there are cafe bars and restaurants in abundance...FREE!
if you’re feeling a little more energetic (and I mean just a little), you can walk into Guines village. takes 15 mins strolling. There you can buy meat/bread/fresh fruit and even little bargain gifts...a quirky yet exquisite town.
Well that’s it! I have tried to be very comprehensive, because we loved it as a family destination so much I thought I’d try and encourage more people to visit.
Enjoy. The Rogers Family, South Wales.
