More Traveller Reviews of Fuga Hotel
fab fuga 10/10

Firstly I would like to clear one thing up, before I went away I read reviews saying 'don't go to fuga unless your a mountin goat' etc. The hotel is built into the side of a big hill, (which is one reason the views are great) yes it is quite steep but there are shuttles and a lift to use. If anyone in your family has mobility problems it isn't advisable to go here as there are many steps aswell. I have warned you please don't come back complaining if you do decide to go!!! Right on to the great things. I went to Fuga in May and stayed for 2 weeks, it was fantastic. It is suitable for couples or families; those who like complete relaxation, sporty types or those who like a night out. The location is fantastic, and the rooms are very quite at night. There are 2 pools the main one seen in all the pictures and one for 12 years and over, to be honest that one was a bit too quite for me.There is a very modern gym, table tennis, tennis, basketball, yoga, stretching classes, canoes and other water sports. The food at Fuga is brilliant, I have stayed at many A.I hotels and after a week have started to get bored or it wasn't very good. At Fuga, in the main restaurant they have at least 5 stations were the food is cooked in front of you, including fresh breads/pizzas (which I highly recommend), stirfry's, meats and a few times have roast turkey and/or chicken, there are always pasta dishes, a large salad selection and many desserts; the rice pudding is great!!! There is a beach snack bar which have burgers, pizza, salads, etc everything again is freshly prepared. The mongolian restaurant is chinese themed and looks over the sea, very romantic. The food is great, you select what you want, I know that sounds like any restaurant but I mean you pick every vegetable, meat, sauce and then they cook it in front of you, whats not to like. High novelty factor I know, but something a bit different and the food is very good to. Gumbet and Bodrum are a short bus ride away, (the bus picks up and drops off right outside the hotel) and costs 1.70 T.L. Gumbet is more for the younger generation, with many bars and pubs, there are several restaurants but none really seem to specialise in one type of cuisine. Bodrum is a fishing town so there are lots of fish restaurants which are lovely, there is a small shopping centre/market, be prepared to haggle! While there we were on holiday we went to the water park in Bodrum, fun all round. My partner went scuba diving, this was great for him and me as I didn't want to do scuba diving, so I could go on the boat for the day and snorkel and swim in the sea. It cost £40 to do the scuba diving and £20 if not, we were on the boat all day, food and snorkelling equipment was all included just need to pay for drinks. If you decide to go to Turkey you have to have a traditional Turkish bath, they scrub the skin and wash away dead skin cells and toxins, it also helps you tan alot better!! Hope this helps your decision, and have fun wherever you go.
nice fuga

Fuga was lovely, rooms were clean and modern with a romantic touch, the complex was clean and nice pool leading to the beach was beautiful, staff very nice too. food was cold, never hot, not much variation, and the food serving times were not really consistent, things such as ice cream and fresh orange were not free, no entatainment as such, so early nights all week for us, however only a short bus ride to gumbet so very handy. wouldnt recommend for families with young kids, nothing for them to do at all!!! very adult! Would recommend this, just not the food. everything else they got it right
Fantastic Hotel

Like many read reviews and most good but a few negative so a bit unsure what to expect. Boooked a few weeks before for our wedding anniverary and big birthday. Have 2 kids 12 and 15. Can only say all staff friendly, weather and setting fantastic. No shortage of sunbeds, cushions and towels even though the usual early birds reserving beds. Food varied and lots of healthy options. Beautifully presented and very clean. We were under the impression that you could only eat in the Mongolian restaurant once during stay but not so. As many times as you wish as long as you book the day before and only soft drinks included here. Fantastic food served that you pick and chef cooks. We loved lunch in the beach bar but get a table in the shade as it gets very hot. Wonderful fresh fish and salads. Kids liked so much they often had two meals. Note that not much to do for children. No programme or games which is super if you just want to chill in peace and quiet. Table tennis, tennis and chess etc, 3 canoes, windsurfing but you have to be experienced to be let out. Snooker but you pay. Having said that they really enjoyed the whole experience and luxury. Not many English at all, mainly swiss, belgians, germans, danes and everyone very pleasant and chilled out. Many we spoke to came every year and the taxi driver and rep said this was definitely one of the best hotels in gumbet/turkey. I have been to 5 resorts in Turkey before and I agree. Not much in gumbet which is 5 mins by bus which goes from reception every 10 mins. Bodrum same price on bus and about 20 mins and more to do and pretty harbour but you really won't want to leave hotel. It is quite steep but so what, good to have a bit of exercise and a golf buggy and ski lift goes up and down all day if you don't want to walk . Fabulous pools and so clean. The views and sunsets are amazing. I would certainly be happy to go here for a honeymoon. Bedrooms fresh clean and large but you can hear people in rooms around you.I thought is was fantastic value for money and look around for deals as prices seem to vary so much.
Beautiful Views, and Personal Service
from RoseDevon
Spent 7 nights in fuga in May 2007 as our honeymoon. We were upgraded to a suite which gave us two balconeys and two different fantastic views. The staff at the beach bar were great, professional and personal. The restaurant and snack bar staff were also good but perhaps a little busier, and sometimes we had to get our own drinks but we were so relaxed we didn't mind. The Mongolia restaurant is worth a visit, we had a wonderful meal though you do have to pay for alcoholic drinks in here. The resort is on a steep slope, but there are shuttle buses every 15 minutes or so. The buses are frequent if you want to explore, and taxis are cheap. The castle at nearby Bodrum is worth a visit, but closes at lunch times and Mondays. Will definately return for an anniversary.
fantastic fuga

i have just come home from a week at the fuga last monday and thought that i should right something because the reviews that i read almost put me off going. i have to assume that these people are professional complainers and also, rarely do people bother to leave a review when they are happy. so... i went to gumbet with my mum, auntie and cousin for a relaxing week in the sun. my auntie stayed at the fuga last year and raved about it and so we ignored the reviews and went. when we arrived at reception i knew what the hotel would be like - stunning. we were driven to our room where the staff carried all our luggage on arrival and departure. our room was exactly as pictured, immaculatley clean. bed was very comfy and there were no bugs in our room! went down to the pool and it took my breath away you can sunbathe literally in the sea! fabulous. the buffet restaurant was amazing. loads of salad and plenty of variety. everything was high standard and served hot which makes a change from many hotels ive stayed at. deserts slightly bland but then they tend to be in most places. the snack bar is just so good. i was expecting egg and chips like most all inclusives but you could choose from 4 different salads (which were huge), grilled sea bass, pizza, spagetti etc. the staff were so friendly, they just couldnt do enough for you. many people have said how steep it is, whilst i admit its not ideal for elderly people - it wasnt that bad. there is a lift that takes you right to the top so you never have to walk up, we got the lift for first two days coz we were right at the top but then realised that it wasnt all that steep. i bet the staff thought we were so lazy!. just quickly ill just mention the area.... gumbet is a 15min walk, to avoid gettin hassle from people in shops get the dolmus which are little buses which run every 5 mins 24 hours a day and pick you up from reception. they will take you to gumet or right into bodrum and it costs only 1.70lehrer which is bout 60p. and thats the same to go to bodrum which is bout 35mins away. bars are lively and fun, kareoke cabin and mr frogs kareoke all good. and we had a meal at a place called 'our restaurant' which was lovely. the owner galaxy was very friendly. bodrum very picturesque, beautiful marina and the castle looked wonderful although we didnt actually visit. drinks in bars are english prices not super cheap - bout 30lehrer for a round of 4 which is £12. dont get a taxi they, again are bout £12 and the dolmus really does run all night. you just ask them to stop and they will do anywhere. you must visit fuga - its fab!
Loved the Fuga
from SMFLondon
Stayed here with 3 girlfriends last summer and we had a great time. The resort is beautiful and very stylish. Lovely setting by the sea and particularly enjoyed lounging on the giant pillows around the decking. The rooms aren't huge and quite basic but who wants to spend much time in their hotel room on holiday? We really enjoyed the all inclusive buffet. 2 in our group were vegetarian and there was always plenty of choice for everyone and the menu changed daily so we never got bored. Most of the options (apart from the delicious bacalava) were all fairly healthy which was a refreshing change from most all inclusive resorts I've stayed in (lots of grilled fish, fruit and a huge selection of salads.) Yes, the resort is steep but if you're reasonably fit and spend most of the day lounging by the pool a 5 min steep walk to your hotel room is no big deal. The onsite spa also comes highly recommended. We wanted total relaxation for a week and didn't bother with Gumbet which is pretty tacky. A week is just enough, might be a bit bored for any longer. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing week.
Perhaps one to miss

Stayed at Fuga Fine Times for a week in October 2006. Glad we were only there for a week and not a fortnight. Brilliant location for view from the pool area and very pleasant pool and seafront location but that was really the best points. Rooms clean but very, very basic and absolutely no views whatsoever. We had to complain about the first two rooms we were given before we had one that we would actually accept. The first one smelled like an open sewer and we moved immediately as it was impossible to spend even one night there. As we had arrived at four o'clock in the morning, we took the second room just to get a few hours sleep on the understanding that we would be complaining to the manager at 10 am and demanding a better room. The room that we agreed to stay in for the remainder of the first night looked out on to a stone wall which was about ten feet from the window and that was all we could see. When we complained to the manager in the morning, in fairness he did offer us the choice of two further rooms, one of which we accepted and was probably one of the better located rooms on the complex but by no means one with a good view. The food was plentifull but no mor than adequate in quallity and became very boring as the week progressed. As previous guests have stated, the hotel is built on the side of a steep hill and was just about impossible to walk around nwith any degree of pleasure or comfort. We normally book four or five star hotels for our holidays, but on this occasion wanted a cheap week. Well that is what we got. So don't forget, you get what you pay for. We enjoyed our holiday, because we make our own enjoyment but the hotel was a great disappointment. As soon as we saw the Reception Office we knew what to expect. The tour company First Choice advertised the hotel as 'Chic and Unique', well, what can I say?? Chic it certainly was not, but Unique....!!! For a cheap week it was OK, but I think we will stick to four or five star. We will not be returning!!!!
alright if you happen to be a mountain goat
from lambey
spent the last two weeks of september in the fuga, room was very basic, food not good, not enough tables at dinner, cutlery dirty, the resort of fuga is built on a very, very steep incline, great if you happen to be a goat, getting around the complex, is by buggy, not good if you have a bad back, which you will have by the time you leave. Have travelled a lot around turkey, gumbet is probably the worst area that I've been to, dirty and not much to see. The resort was hit by bad storms the second week we were there, which did'nt help, all the guests trying to huddle around the open bar area in the evenings, hoping to get out of the wind. If you want a 18-30 holiday, fuga is for you, if you want peace and quiet, a good level of service , good choice of food after 8.30, somewhere to walk to, a bit of luxury, then the fuga is definaly not for you.
fabulous fuga!

we stayed at the fuga for the first week in september to celebrate our first anniversary. this was the first package we've booked as usually we book cheapo flights and accommodation on the web. so it was great to have everything organised for us. we arrived early in the morning and after the transfer were relieved to get off the coach. the fuga staff were really friendly and had even made us a packed breakfast upon arrival which was very thoughtful. our room was fine, exactly like the brosure and the shower was great. we were at the top of the complex so it was a steep walk but we got used to it. we loved the whole resort - the staff were great and really friendly considering they worked so hard. the food was brilliant - i dont eat meat, fish or wheat and i there was loads i could have. we visited the mongolian mid week but werent madly impressed to be honest, altho the view was amazing. there was lots going on if you could be bothered (my husband did a yoga session but i was too busy reading). we went to the gym a few times which was nice and cool when it was blistering outside. we usually headed for the quiet pool to secure a hammock but we managed to get a good spot most mornings before 8pm. all in all this was exactly the holiday we wanted and it couldnt have been any better. .
Beautiful Hotel

Having visited other resorts in Turkey the local area surrounding the hotel is not as pleasent as other places. This does not take anything away from the hotel, we had an excellent week at the Hotel Fuga and would most definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and peaceful break. Having the option of the relax pool, main pool and the beach means that you can always get a sunbed, cushion or mattress even if you go out for the morning - no need to put towels on at breakfast. The rooms are modern and unlike any others we have seen in similar hotels, the bathrooms are small but have excellent showers with decorative stones in the shower tray, small details make the rooms more special, loved the petals on the bed. As we wanted a quiet week we requested a quiet room - we needn't of bothered to request this as the whole place is quiet! The fact that the hotel is built on the slope means that you don't feel crammed in, the rooms are in small blocks and each have their own terrace or balcony. The shuttle cars which at first appear to only go backwards are great and mean those who would prefer to miss out on the walk can, the elevator is fantastic - the views you get are lovely and the guys that run it are friendly and soon remember which stop you want. The food was good in the main restaurant, I would agree that over 2 weeks it may become repetative but the option of the a la carte restaurants means you can have some variation, I would book as soon as possible for these as they get full quickly. We ate at the mongolian grill on our last night and were very impressed, its quick and fun to pick what you want and then see it cooked freshly for you. The guys that run the watersports were great and if you ask nicely are happy to take you to Bodrum by speed boat for a small charge. We travelled with First Choice, we decided to book the taxi transfer which I would advise as the bus journey is quite long as the Fuga is their last stop, the taxi option took 30 minutes and turned out to be a 12 seater mini bus just for the two of us. I would go back next week if I could, a great hotel with friendly staff and excellent facilities.
