Me and My boyrfriend have just...

Me and My boyrfriend have just returned from the fuga hotel. I am 18 and my boyfriend is 19.. we went for the 16th to the 23rd of June 08. We fancied a quiet break away for our first holiday together and I must say that we picked extremely well. I did not have one complaint about the holiday except the mosquitos which seemed to like me.
As we arrived the reception was very friendly and couldnt do enough for us.. The guy who took our bags had a broken hand but he wouldn't allow my boyfriend to carry the bags which was very good even though I felt kind of sorry for him.
We arrived at our room and it was very nice and minimal but yet homely. We had lots of storage space and great air conditioning which had to be turned off during the night as it could get quite chilly but we could control the temperature. The shower room was very nice as well they kept quite a natural theme. I also had a great sleep on the beds.
Once we unpacked we made our way down to the pool and bar area and our mouths dropped to the floor when we saw the views.. It was STUNNING! I cant see why people would would complain about this hotel the must be very picky because it was beautiful. There was even a wedding there on one of the nights and the owner had his 6 million pound yacht floating outside the hotel which looked amazing. We were told that the hotel was also the most expensive one on the island and I wasn't suprised to be honest.
The food was great in the main hotel.. everything was fresh and cooked in front of you.. we have very nice omelettes in the mornings.. the food was healthy but so tasty and stopped you from feeling sluggish throughout the day. I booked the mongolian grill one of the nights and we went with a couple that we met there and the food was fantastic. It was a very layed back friendly atmosphere and a very interesting night.
The pool was very nice as well and the weather was excellent every day.. The hottest day was 42.C and that was so hot we were in and out of the pool to cool down. There was alot of German, Austrian and french people there but they kept themselves to themselves and there was hardly any kids there which was nice.. If a baby was crying then everyone was shocked because obviously we wasn't used to it.. The alcoholic drinks stopped at 12.00 but we stocked up with about four drinks each so we had plenty to carry through the night. Ha ha =D
They had a different bar down the bottom of the hotel which played more up-beat clubbing music which was cool we sat down there a few night and the music was brilliant.. and you couldnt hear it from your rooms. we sat on by the decking and we had our feet over the edge and the sea was lit up which was lovely and the views of Gumbet at night were spectacular. There are so many good points about this hotel and I don't want to go through all of them because you must see for yourself.. Just dont go there if you have bad health because its very hilly and it really knackered me out especially when I was drunk.. But saying that there is a lift at the side of the hotel if you feel lazy. but dont worry about the bad reviews because I was and I serioulsy didnt need to be. If you are going to the Fuga you are very lucky.. I wish I was still there!

my wife and i have just got back from...

my wife and i have just got back from this hotel over all it was good.we arrived at 3.00a.m. when we pulled up to this hotel i first reaction was what have we booked, the reception is plain smallish room, clean but when the bus drops you off you don,t go wow.the man will take you down to your room.the rooms are clean and basic shower (no baths in rooms) but we did,nt mind that as we only shower on hoilday, telly, two built in wardrobes around the back of the bed witch was good as you normally only get one.there is a fridge in your room with some drinks in the water is free the rest you have to pay for including the pot of nuts next to your free water as we discovered at the end.when we got up in the morning and went down to breakfast the view was beatiful your set on a hillside and the can see the sea it was lovely.the restauant was nice and a lovely view from there after a week we was a bit fed up of the food.you can purchase freshly squeeze orange juice (for 500ytl each) if you wish to we did a few times it was lovely.on the next level down you can have your lunch pizza,s chips, salad, we prefered that at dinner times and it is lovely down there eating your dinner by the sea.(i think that opened something like 1.00-4.30p.m.)
the only thing we hated was if you was not up by 9.00a.m. you could,nt get a sun bed or the big cushions that are around the hotel on a couple of days we ended up sitting around the bar, as we could not get a bed.this does ruin your holiday as you,ve got to rush out in the morning.
the shuttle bus goes from reception down to near the beach then back up about every 10-15 mins we did find this very good because it is hard work. also there is a monarail we did use that a few times.
be very careful if you purchase any thing in the hotel shop (the shop that sells newspapers outside) i went in with my wife and she bought to plastic bands for her hair just so she could put her hair up while sunbaething £2.00 each!. the thing is if you buy fresh orange juice from the restaunt a paper from the shop or anything in the hotel you cannot pay for it then all you buy in the hotel you pay for at the end of your stay.(we did,nt like that as we like to pay for anything then and there.)
the bus to gumbet and bodrum is right outside the hotel you will see the bus stop it is 2 ytl each and at this time of year runs 24hrs a day if you want to go onto bodrum just stay on the same bus as it carries on to bodrum and it is the same price, were it drops you in bodrum bus station is where you catch it when you finished in bodrum or if your walking around gumbet it will stop any where for you to get on.
thr rep was nice danny he was new to the job but nice lad.the welcome metting did,nt drag on and he was,nt pushy about the trips. we went to cos for the day although we booked the trip in bodrum (it is the same price with the rep.)we only booked the trip in bodrum because we were out walking and we know were to go as we have been here a few times.if you want to go to cos it,s about £24.00 each on the ferry (1 aday sails at 9.30am leaves cos at 4.30p.m. don,t forget you need your passport to go to cos.)
we also went on a sail boat trip from 12.00-6.00pm. for £12.00 including lunch it was brill.
overall we had a lovely time at this hotel lovely and clean beatiful views (altough this hotel is being knocked down at the end of oct)we did,t get why one person told us they were building a new one next door to it (as this is the last hotel at the side of fugi there is only land ,no more hotels)so we can,t say we would go back cos we can,t it won,t be there.
have a nice holiday we did.

Booked the Fuga Fines after reading...
9 / 10
Jan 2008, Miss J Mills

Booked the Fuga Fines after reading mixed reviews. All in all the resort, which the hotel is was excellent, couldn't ask for anything nicer.
Remember your in Turkey not the Caribbean, the rooms are very modern, the TV is small but who wants to watch TV in 90 degrees. The safety deposit boxes are free, a bonus.
The food is excellent, the best I have had "all inclusive", we took extra money to eat out a couple of times but didn't want to. The drink is very good, lager, spirits, wine, soft drinks, coffee all included.
The pools are lovely with an added bonus of an adults only pool, didn't have a need to use it though as there wasn't many children there.
The evening entertainment was very low key. But very nice as everyone just sat and relaxed.
The resort is built on a cliff side but don't worry there is a little bus and a lift going up and down the resort all day.
The resort is sponsored by many well known companies, Coca Cola, Palmolive, Adidas, Apple Mac and many more. Therefore they have an excellent gym, full size Palmolive Spa products in the rooms and a very good Apple Mac Room. And real Coca Cola in your drinks!
There is a shop on site which is very expensive, but a few minutes walk down the road will bring you to a little, cheap, supermarket, that's if you have a need to buy anything!
For those wanting to venture out there is a bus stop right at the front door, with minibuses (dolmus in Turkey) arriving every 2 minutes. They are brilliant.

Just got back from one week at hotel...
5 / 10
Oct 2007, Ms S Powell

Just got back from one week at hotel Fuga having decided to go there following beautiful pictures and write up in holiday brochure. Not so!
When we arrived our room was so small I refused to sleep there. After being told we should have read the brochure properly and that we had only paid for a standard room (£700 each), we were moved to a room slightly bigger at no extra charge which was a relief.
The view from our room was of a building site and a cable car ran up and down the side of it taking holiday makers to and from the top to bottom of hotel. The room was dirty with dead flies stuck to the wall and was never cleaned properly.
We received a letter whilst there asking us to stay out of our room for the day to it being fumigated against the high levels of insects.
There was absolutely no entertainment at all and no sky television. The free drinks finished at midnight and before then they often ran out of local imports, only ever appearing to offer you vodka.
On a plus side the hotels food was beautiful, lots of choice and eating times. We did not think it was anywhere near as nice as the brochure or worthy of the 4/5 stars it has.
We visited the spa whilst there but even then this was not out of the ordinary or worth the money we paid.
Would we go back to this hotel? No, would we recommend it to others? No.

Just returned from 1 week in Turkey,...
1 / 10
Oct 2007, Miss D L Meade

Just returned from 1 week in Turkey, really disappointed.
Having booked this holiday through 'Goldtrail Travel', who on their website stated this accommodation as 5 star, the accommodation is anything but 5 star.
The first evening we arrived we were given a room which I can only describe as a broom cupboard with 2 single beds! And a slightly smaller cupboard pretending to be a bathroom!
The porter assured us this was temporary and we would be given a better room in the morning!
Following day went back to reception and they looked stunned that we had been told this. Adamant we wanted a better room, they (in fairness) did everything they could and changed our room that afternoon.
Having stayed in 2 rooms, where neither the balcony door or the bathroom doors shut properly, so you either had an overwhelming smell of sewage or mosquito's in the room!
The so-called "Al a carte" restaurant was anything but; firstly we were given 2 starters which you had no choice in choosing. Then the main meal which basically was a stir-fry!
Goldtrail Travel do not have a rep at the resort, so if you had any questions there was no one to speak to, which we didn't know or informed by them about.
The shop on the resort was extremely over-priced, the newspapers were always a day old, not the usual standard for a five star accommodation, and we have stayed in quite a few 5 star hotels.
The tiny portable TV only had one English Channel.
The private taxi arranged by Goldtrail didn't pick us up on the return day as the information they had, was to pick up 3 people and not 2. So having already paid to be picked up, we had to arrange a taxi to take us back to the airport, which cost us 80YTL.
Overall the staff & the beautiful scenery were the only good things about this holiday.
Hence I will not be using Goldtrail ever again, and will also be strongly advising my friends and family not to use them either.
I strongly suggest one of their reps, actually goes out to Fuga, so they can see for themselves this resort by no stretch of the imagination is a 5 star resort.

We visited the hotel Fuga in October...
5 / 10
Jan 2007, Mr D Threadgold

We visited the hotel Fuga in October 2005.
Our first impressions of the hotel were disappointing. The reception area was nothing more than a shack, and the rooms were very disappointing, not as nice as were depicted on the website and in the brochure.
On visiting the dining area the first evening we weren’t sure if we seated ourselves, as no staff were around to ask. However after settling in we found the surroundings and decking areas in particular, to be quite nice.
Although to get back to the restaurant we didn't appreciate the many birds that were landing on the food (very unhygienic) the staff that were around seemed to be fine with that!
On leaving, when our coach arrived, to take us to the airport , there was no lift to reception (this was usually a shuttle service that drove you around the complex as it was so steep you needed this).
My step father who is 70, couldn't manage it, we rang for the shuttle service several times, along with other guests but nobody answered.
I would not class this hotel as 4 stars and would not recommend it to anyone.
In fact the service we received was the worst we have ever experienced.

I have just returned from spending my...
9 / 10
Sep 2006, Mr IW Kelsey

I have just returned from spending my honeymoon at the Fuga. We stayed for one week, but wished it could have been longer. I can highly recommend the Fuga to anyone, and can't understand the negative comments it has occasionally received.
Our room was lovely, yes it was minimalistic in style and perhaps would not suit the older generation (60+), but the resort has so many places to sit and relax even in the small hours, that we only really used the room for sleeping and changing.
One couple we met did say that their room did smell (like a toilet) and I have noted that this has popped up occasionally on reviews, ours did not smell at all, I can only assume that are a few rooms in perhaps a certain area that suffer this problem, if you are unlucky enough to get one of these just request a change of room.

We found the food excellent, it was always fresh, and in lots of cases cooked in front of you as you waited. The choice was amazing, and catered for every taste imaginable.
Breakfast was slightly biased towards a Mediterranean style with lots of cooked meats, olives, tomatoes, cheese etc, but there were cereals, porridge, and you could even get a fried egg on toast if you wanted it!
A nice touch for the night owls by the pool bar was midnight hot soup with bread and olives, toms, and cucumber. The snack bar at the beach was also very handy if you missed lunch or wanted to eat late afternoon/early evening. Dishes served where ideal for snacks, lasagne, cheeseburger and chips, calamari salad etc.
We found the staff at all times extremely hard working and polite, and they seemed to enjoy chatting with the few Brits that where there. The complex itself was very clean at all times, with an army of staff quietly going about collecting glasses, tidying sun beds etc etc.
The Gym was excellent, the Relax pool provided a wonderful escape during the day if required, the main bar pool was big enough not to be overcrowded even when busy, the sea was easily accessed and very refreshing to swim in. The water was clean, clear, and safe, although the odd bit of rubbish was seen because of the tide, but this is understandable as the hotel is positioned on a headland out to the open sea.
There where plenty of places to relax and sunbathe, varying from the decking and jetty by the sea, to the main pool area. We always found a sun bed and place to lie, even if the Germans liked to get the main pool area very early!
The main pool/ bar area provided a wonderful place to chill in the late afternoon/early evening, with its futon style seating areas, relaxing music, and perfect views over the bay and islands beyond.
Most nights there was entertainment down at the jetty/snack bar area at about 9.30/10.00pm, this varied from a modern group, to a traditional Turkish singer, to fire dancers on the floating jetty!
Music from a DJ then followed, although this was at times pretty loud and lively, it could not be heard any where else in the complex, most nights it was quite and finished by 12.00, although a great night of dancing and drinking was had on the first night by a mixed crowd with us finally finishing at 4.00am.
As I have stated, those looking for a relaxing/chilled holiday should not be put of by this, as the hotel caters for all tastes, and I would certainly say "chilled" was the theme of the week we had. Be assured not a single lager lout was to be seen.
Most people we met rarely left the complex, this is because the place was so relaxed and well run, we did venture out into Bodrum for shopping, which was very enjoyable with its bustling narrow streets and castle. We also ventured in to Gumbet the nearest resort!
My advice is to avoid Gumbet at all costs, especially at night, it caters mainly for the 18-30 brits. Pub crawls, karaoke, Sky TV football and fish and chips are the order of the day. There is nothing wrong with that of course, as it depends very much on what you are looking for on holiday.
An organised trip to a traditional Turkish Bath is recommended, as is the day trip on the Gulet (your rep will sort these for you). In summary I would say the following:
Downsides - hilly with lots of steps, not a problem but not advisable for the frail or small children.
Up sides - Fantastic location/views, great food, friendly and helpful staff, the ultimate adult chill out experience.
We will be going back as soon as we can.

I can’t believe all the bad...
9 / 10
Jun 2006, Mr L Branch

I can’t believe all the bad comments on hotel Fuga this was certainly not the case when my wife and I went. We went over to get married in the hotel after a very good review by our parents who we sent over to check it out for us.
We arrived at 12:30 in the morning and at first we did have a hiccup with the room, ours should have been the honeymoon room which when there are 45 people booking in at once we could understand that it was given to someone else out of our group. Especially when if you bother to talk to the Turkish they will tell you that as we are a young couple it is not normal for them to get married they normally wait till they are 40.

After this it was fantastic we had our own marriage coordinator and Astler out of guest relations couldn’t do enough for us. From free spa treatments to all our needs for the wedding day which were more than catered for.

The food was excellent apart from maybe the breakfast which was more orientated to the Germans (cooked meats and cheeses) but apart from that the food was first class. The bar staff were friendly and all up for a laugh and a joke and always came over to say hello when we were seated by the pool. The Mongolian grill is some of the best food I have tasted.

All in all everyone who came with us said the same thing if they went back to turkey this is the place they would go.

Jun 2006, Mrs H Lloyd

I like some of the other readers was really concerned about going to the Fuga after reading some of the reviews. I was even more stressed about everything due to the fact that I was getting married at the hotel and had friends and family staying at the hotel too. From the minute I arrived at the hotel I began to feel more relaxed due to the staff being so friendly and helpful.
We were driven to our room with our luggage which was carried to the room for us. Our room was amazing and every day the maid left a different design on our bed made out of towels and flowers.
The whole complex was beautiful with the most stunning views. We found all the staff very friendly and willing to do anything they could to make our holiday a memorable experience. The only bad thing was the food. There was so much to choose from and it was all so good that I put on weight! Down on the beach the snack bar made the most amazing pizzas fresh to order.
The actual wedding was amazing and the staff again went out of their way to make it extra special.
Everyone in our group had an amazing holiday and are already booking to go back again.
I don’t know where the people who wrote the negative reviews stayed but it cannot be the same place that we stayed at as our holiday was fantastic and one we will always remember.

The Fuga is an absolutely fantastic...
10 / 10
Jan 2006, Miss N Little

The Fuga is an absolutely fantastic holiday experience that I am definitely considering for 2006! The only negative thing I can possibly say is the flight times into Bodrum - and that is the UK operators not this hotel!
My partner and I were extremely lucky to be checked into the Spa Suite on arrival and were the first guests to stay in it. With it's own private deck with sunken Jacuzzi, minimalist style room and breathtaking views we were delighted!
The hotel complex is clean, completely different from the standard holiday type complex and I feel caters for a perfect holiday. You constantly feel relaxed due the beautiful surroundings whether it is by the pool, the beach or the adult only area. As a couple travelling without children, it did meet our expectations in that the guests were primarily adults therefore very little noise around the pool which was my preference for this holiday. For me I hope it stays this way.
I would have preferred more entertainment on an evening as we only had this on our first night in the way of 2 Turkish singers performing some of our favourite UK music from the 70's to present day. Although relaxing on an evening, we did feel the need to venture into Gumbet centre for a couple of 'pub crawls'! Travelling to Gumbet & Bodrum is so easy via the 'Dolmus' and we did that a couple of times during the day as well as on the evening, in order to venture into Bodrum centre and onto a boat trip - highly recommended at around £7 per person including lunch for some great vies and entertainment!
I suppose one comment towards the Fuga management is that the staff could do with being more attentive to the guests which would probably ensure that as well as being a 4* facility, it provides a 4* service...but I suppose part of this is their culture so for us it was acceptable.
I would say visit Fuga if you want something special without the long haul flight time and you are looking to just chill out with the opportunity for some lively fun should you need it.
