Good, Clean, Budget Hotel
Having read some of the reviews I was a little anxious about this Hotel but when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised. You have to remember that this is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for and thats why I rate as average however this could very well be an above average budget hotel as my experience of this type of accomodation is limited. I booked a three bed room with private bathroom. After I booked through a third party I emailed the hotel and asked that they confirmed my booking and within 12 hours Patrick replied which was... more
Nice, comfortable place with good location
Brought my mom to NYC and stayed here Sept 29-Oct 1. Paid a total of $280 for the 2-night stay. Overall, we were very pleased with the accomodations, location, and price. (Booked on lastminute's website.) Upon arrival, there was a mix-up with the reservation. I reserved a Deluxe Double room and was about to be given a different style room we didn't want. I handed over the print-out of my booking to the manager and the error was quickly fixed to our satisfaction. We stayed on the first floor. (I believe room 107?) Our... more
Charming and sparkly clean
This small hotel is the cutest place. It made me think of a place I stayed in Paris - only The Morningside Inn is 100 times cleaner. The bed linen was crispy white and the bathroom linen was white and fluffy. Its just wonderful for the location and price. And the staff really cares! What a treat.
Clean, Comfortable, Friendly and Good Value!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!! After travelling from west to east in the US, I had to mostly guess and use sites like this to choose my accommodation. Needless to say I had some disapointments. The Morningside Inn was not one of these..... The friendly staff went out of their way to satisfy any needs and the room was cleaned and left with fresh towels daily. The location has a real comfortable feeling, giving a real feel for New York, with all necessities close at hand as well as being only metres from the 110th street subway... more
Terrible
On July 31, 2006, I booked a room at the Morningside Inn in NYC on the internet site www.lodgingNet.us for the weekend of November 3 to 6, 2006 for my participation in the New York City Marathon. I received an e-mailed confirmed reservation. When I arrived at the Morningside Inn on November 3rd at 7:00 pm, I was met by a young woman clerk at the desk who informed me that my reservation had been cancelled by her boss "Patrick" and that he had tried to get a hold of me to let me know. I told her that no one had gotten a hold of me at any time... more
Management response from arroyo1

This customer did make a reservation through our website, but he did not understand that he need to submit his CREDIT CARD INFORMATION in order for me to confirm his reservation. anyone can submit a reservation request, but they must follow procedures in order to confirm the reservations. I did reach out to this customer via e:mail, twice. when I did not get a response in 72 hours I cancelled the reservation. on my behalf I did not know if this request was legitimate or bogus I have to follow procedures..now as far as we not helping this customer..we DID find him another hotel room for the same price and was willing to pay for the cab ride but he was just rude and nasty to my staff...i wish evryone to know please visit morningside inn and see for yourself how wonderful we are. anytime you are welcome

Budget option
This is a reasonable budget option but don't expect too much. Our room was very basic, slightly shabby and fairly small, but both it and the bathroom seemed clean and not uncomfortable. We certainly didn't have any problems with dirt/vermin etc like some other reviewers (although we didn't go into the kitchen so I can't comment on that). It's definitely not a luxury option, but if you're just looking for a good value place to sleep in between seeing the sights of New York, it hits the spot. The one problem we had was on our... more
Congratulations
I've stayed in some pits in my time but this place really takes the biscuit. Disgusting. i don't mind shabbyness but this place was just plane dirty. And the staff have a bad attitude to boot.
Don't stay here!!!
We were travelling with friends when we booked this hotel. This place was so bad, we only stayed for 2 hours! Our plane was delayed, so we didn't get to the hotel until 4am. We rang the hotel from the plane and found out that there wouldn't be anyone there to check us in. After explaining our situation to the lady at reception, she was kind enough to stay and wait for us. When we got there, we were very dubious about this place (even from the outside). We had originally booked this place for the week, but decided once we... more
A warm place in NYC
It's really surprise me that people think this hotel is dirty and unfriendly. We stayed this hotel for 3 weeks and we really got great time there. The staffs there are really nice and like Patrick he asked me "how's everything??? could I got anything for you???" I can feel I was staying in a happy, comfortable and warm environment. There was a man clean the kitchen every morning(every morning I just tried to prepare our breakfast) and he also clean the bathroom also. There's a lady clean our room every one or two day. If we need towels,... more
Horrific and terrible stay at this grimy roach infested place
Stay away from this place at all costs. I had the misfortune to stay at this place for a week. It is dirty, grimy, roach and rat infested and the staff is very very unprofessional and verbally abusive. The staff was very unprofessional especially the manager Patrick. I was verbally abused for asking for a towel and when I finally got a towel from the cleaning lady 3 days later it was dirty with hair and brown spots all over. A very sexist and verbally abusive manager. He would get upset at guys asking general questions and would reply... more

To Whom it may concern, With all do respect your misfortune was brought upon yourself for being rude and unpleased with what my staff offered you the week of your stay with us. Our rooms are very cleaned and nothing in are hotel is grimmy nor dirty never the less. Thoughout the hotel world we come across as one of the best and accurate hotels (hostelworld, hostetimes, hostelbookers, etc.) With very professional staff and friendly manegment. We can't come to truth the fact that you did not have a pleasant stay with us. And as far as me coming across as a sexist I treat all my guest with the the same ability. If by any means i came across to you in that fashion I apologize.. Thank your for stay at Morningside inn... Please come back again....
