Sandpiper Hotel

Stayed 3 nights at the end of a 2 week holiday to Barbados. The hotel has a relaxed, tranquil atmosphere with friendly staff and good service in beautifully landscaped gardens. The hotel also has its own good sized private beach with plenty of sun loungers for guests. The free watersports were also great - we used kayaks, snorkels and also enjoyed a jet boat cruise along the coast. The Hotel was very well laid out and the staff very friendly. We had a suite with a small kitchen, this was very useful. The pool was small and a bit deep (not child friendly) but was clean and handy for the rooms. The gym was ok but badly laid out. One of the two treadmills was broken and had been for a very long time, there were no plans to repair it. Barbados can be flash. The Sandpiper isn't. Instead, it is calm, elegant, deeply comfortable and has truly wonderful staff who stand out even in an island famous for the quality and charm of the service. The food is excellent -- its awards are well-deserved. Even the music in the evenings is well above normal hotel standards. First time in Barbados, loved the luxury Mercedes transfer, arrived to a beautiful reception area and a smile. Sandpiper has gotten all the things the other luxury hotel gets wrong – right!!! Meaning, no extra charge for room service (which arrive within 10 minutes), FREE water sports (including water-ski, powerboat and wakeboard) and they take you to the TOP restaurants by Power boats (very James Bond!). My partner and I arrived at the Sandpiper on New Years Day 2006 to be greeted by the hotel manager, who was apologising for the rain!! We were promptly shown to our garden room, which was very nice. This hotel is 'as good as it gets,' okay the garden rooms/suits may not be the biggest or grandest of hotel ,but everything you need is in them, and if it isn't the staff will be happy to get it for you. What a fantastic hotel! Beautiful rooms, the most helpful staff I have ever come across , wonderful selection of food in either the Beach Bar or the restaurant and I would highly recommend to anyone. Well done to the Sandpiper!

Had wonderful family holiday at The Sandpiper. As one of the Leading Small Hotels of the World, it certainly lived up to its reputation. Small and personal, situated on a lovely beach, the food and service simply could not have been bettered. Many visitors had returned year after year, and as first timers we were definitely the odd ones out. Staff kept an eye on children, ours were 15 and 13, so the watersports staff were kept busy. Arrived at the hotel in mid Jan in the rain and were immediately shown to our room by Russell - didn't even have to go through a formal check-in, but were just left with the forms to complete at our convenience. The hotel's 45 rooms are set in a horseshoe shape, in the centre of which is the restaurant and small swimming pool. The grounds are mature, lush and beautiful, with mongoose running freely (very intertaining!). The beach is smallish and immaculately maintained, but there always seemed to be plenty of space. My husband and I got married at the Sandpiper July 30, 2004. The staff at The Sandpiper made it a fairy tale wedding. They helped us with every request we had and made sure we had everything we ever wanted. We truely felt like we were royality. From the moment we arrived to the day we left the staff meet all our needs and wants. The room was beautiful and the view was amazing. I would tell anyone visiting Barbados to stay at The Sandpiper. It is a small. cozy attmoshpere.

the phone number is not listed on the net, and even when I found it no one answered the phone - i was calling from Hong Kong at 8 am Barbados time. this is not what one expects from allegedly a first class hotel
