Sunswept Beach Hotel

Just got back from a week in Barbados staying at the Sunswept Beach Hotel. We had a wonderful holiday! We found the Sunswept to be fairly basic, especially the bathroom, but it was clean and roomy with a well equipped little kitchen area.
The maids came every day and the staff were really friendly. We were on the top floor and had a wonderful view out over the sea. The reception area and the rooms are air conditioned but the stairway is not, boy can you notice the difference! The beach right in front of the hotel that is shown on all sites offering this hotel is not there any longer. By all accounts has disappeared over the last two years but literally just to the side of the hotel is a beach that is fine and lovely with a beach bar if you want a drink or something to eat. There is also Cocomos bar and restaurant immediately adjacent to the Sunswept that had lovely food.
A bank, supermarket and shops are all on the doorstep. There is a small pool which was cleaned regularly every day but with beautiful beaches and the warm sea who needs it. The approach to the hotel is not that great and the whole hotel really could do with a good ole lick of paint and general tidy up, but for the money and to be honest for the amount of time you spend in the hotel you cannot complain.
We stayed in a 3* hotel in Corfu last year, the Sunswept is only a 2* but on the whole it was just as good! If you are looking for a cheaper holiday in beautiful Barbados and only need somewhere to clean up and lay your head down the Sunswept is perfect! Just a note, didn't see all the Island but St James is not as busy or commercialised as further south, well not in October anyway.
