Where do I start???? I have been to quite a few holiday resorts that would resemble that of Skanes El Hana and I can say without a doubt that it was by far the best! Landing at the hotel at 4.30am, my 4 friends and I didn't even have to lift our own bags from the bus! They... more

Just home from one of the best holidays I have been on! Having been to other hotels in Skanes, Skanes el Hana is by far the best for total relaxation. On arrival (at around 4am after a 5 minute bus journey from the airport) we were greeted by staff and helped to our rooms... more

The hotel looked good upon arrival, until we encountered the reception staff, who conducted several conversations to other members of staff whilst supposedly attending to us. They were curt, rude and unhelpful (as they were all week). When we finally did get into our... more

Well where do I start. The Skanes is the most fantastic place I have ever been. From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted with an enormous smile and everyone bends over backwards to help you. The staff are fantastic, friendly, helpful and being that most of them... more

What can I say? The Hotel Skanes El Hana. We have visited in excess of 15 times over the last 12 years or so. We have always found it to be very clean and comfortable, although in later years the decor has started to show the strain a little. However this does not detract... more

I first visited this hotel when I was 9 years old. I am now 25 and decided to treat my parents to a return visit to re-live our old holiday. When we arrived, we noticed that the hotel has worn quite considerably, however this is expectable after 16 years! It is such a... more

In short - STAY AWAY!!! go to Hotel Kanta
Awful! There was a thunderstorm our first night, we arrived and the marble floored lobby had puddles all over it. The hallways smelled like a sewer, the air-con in the room sounded like a jet engine cranking up (speaking of which) the brochure fails to mention that it is right in the airpot so you have a wonderful lullaby of aircraft (and I am an enthusiast) every five minutes. We checked out and went to the Hotel Kanta in Port El Kantaoui after one night - nice and quiet but the service and accomodation were second to none!
Great Holiday
The Skanes El Hana hotel was a nice hotel although some of the fixtures and fittings could have done with been replaced. The rooms were alright to stay in. The pool area is lovely. There is the main pool which is three metres deep then there is a pool for little children. The entertainment staff were always trying their hardest to cater for everyones intersets. In the day the activities included darts, bowls, volleyball, aerobics and aqua gym. At night they would do a mini disco for the children followed by bingo then a show of some sort at 10. We really enjoyed our holiday overall and are hoping to return some time soon.
Hotel from hell.
My wife and I brought our 2 boys aged 1and a half and 3 and a half to this 'Hotel' in July 2006. Every year we go away with them to the sun and have a great time as they are great travellers and love the beach. Im not going to involve myself in a slagging match with this establishment, nor am i going to get personal to the staff. I am going to be brutally honest however, as I feel as a parent its my duty to warn other parents who may be considering going there.... DONT ! They have no consideration whatsoever for young children at night that might be in bed after 22:00, the entertainment keeps going til midnight, and its so loud the windows rattled. The entertainment is RUBBISH ! Its the same thing every night, and every day. If you have seen the film Groundhog Day... you will know what I mean. The staff are so rude they made you feel you were in the way all the time and that you shouldnt be there, and the ones that were pleasant had a motive, they would tell you how hard they have it, and would eventually start asking you for either your phone or clothes. Believe me it was happening all around us. The chefs while dishing up the food in the evening, when not fighting amongst themselves(verbally), couldnt stop leering at the girls, and it didnt seem to matter what age they were. The rooms are tiny and lets face it filthy. I would safely say never hoovered, TV didnt work, shower was a joke, beds brutal. I could go on, but I hope if nothing else I have prevented another family from making the same mistake we did.
We love it
We have stayed at the Skanes El Hana for 10 years and have always found both the staff and the hotel wonderful. We are returning for the second time this year in November and we cannot wait. The hotel is well situated and the staff are very helpful. The food is of an excellent standard and there is an excellent choice. The local bus stops outside and is very cheap and the taxis are not very expensive anyway and they are right outside the hotel. The hotels grounds are vast and the indoor swimming pool is great. The hotel itself is very impressive when you arrive and the rooms are very large. You do get some hassle from the shopkeepers especially in the Medina but all you have to say is no thank you and not be rude and they accept it. If you are ignorant to them they will automatically retaliate. The area is very safe and one can walk around without feeling threatened in any way. The people are very polite. There is not much entertainment for those people who are used to a rowdy holiday but it is a very relaxing holiday. It may not be modern but it has character, but who wants to stay in a square tower block with bars and noise around. If you expect or want that type of holiday do not go to Tunisia, stick to Spain. I say to anyone who wants to try somewhere different stay here.
Generally a good hotel
Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Skanes El Hana. The pool area was lovely and beach was clean and well looked after with good facillities and security keeping an eye on the sellers. Unfortunately the hotel interior was quite dated and the rooms could have done with a bit of decoration and the bed sheets had stains on and looked like they needed a good clean. We paid for a sea view and the view was lovely but unfortunately it overlooked the entertainment, from 8 in the evening until somenights 1am all you could hear was the thumping music. We couldn't even sit on the balcony to talk as we couldn't hear over the music and the windows were vibrating with the base, don't get me wrong we are only young but you couldn't get away from it i would suggest not to have a seaview we spoke to people at the back of the hotel and they couldn't hear it. The staff were very friendly and it always helps to tip the sunbed man and he will find you a sunbed and umbrella every day. The food was a bit plain but I would reccomend paying to go to the Pizzeria or having pancakes around the pool they are lovely. I would go back mainly just for the weather but will definately not have a sea view.
Fantastic
Myself and my family have just returned from one of the best holiday's we have ever had. We found the hotel itself in need of a paint touch but other than that it was fantastic. The staff were so helpful and to a point a bit too helpful, the food and accomodation were both very good and if you have any special requests as we did with small kids, they cant do enough to help you. The annimation team this hotel has for both adults and kids are second to none that i have ever come across, they work so hard to make sure you are enjoying yourself. The only downside to the whole experiance was that the pool was not quite the best. Before we went on this holiday we had heard and read some really bad storys, thankfully these we found to be all untrue.
Hot Hot Hot
The staff were all wonderful, especially the bar staff working on the beach. I'm sure they would have carried you down there to your sun lounger if you asked. Food was basic, but always something there to tempt you. The rooms were a bit of a let down, in dire need of some revamp. The view from our balcony more than made up for this
Great staff, poor quality hotel !!
My family have just returned from a week in this supposedly 4 star hotel. Let me tell you it is no where near 4 star. We all love travelling and experiencing different cultures and different ways of life but we did expect a little bit more for our money. The toilet in our room leaked water every time you flushed, which we didn't complain about, being trivial. Then when we got into our lovely old fashioned beds, all the linen was stained. We ended up sleeping on our beach towels. The maid did change the sheets every day for us but we still kept getting stained sheets. In the end we just got used to it. All the staff in the hotel were lovely, especially the waiters, maids and entertainers. They would do anything for you and worked so hard. The waiters and maids do rely on their tips. The reception staff were very ignorant and unhelpful. The restaurant is ok and the food is managable(you do get used to it after a couple of days). You are seated on your own, with your family and not next to another group of strangers, but you are cramed in. There is two lifts but only one is in use, AND this broke down during our stay. Instead of getting lift engineers, they got the entertainment staff to fix it 24 hours later. Good things - the pool area is beautiful and relaxing. you can easily get sunloungers and have plenty of space. The pool is inviting and clean. The waiter service is fab. My family described this place as a retirement home in need of serious updating. - No shops, bars or restaurants. Only hotels. Although you can get a taxi into Monastir(10 mins away). Be careful of pickpockets here and be prepared to haggle your way to a bargain. A very quiet holiday if you don't leave the hotel grounds.
brilliant absolutly brilliant
This was a brilliant holiday there was some bad reviews about it but don't let it dishearten you. The staff were very friendly and helpful , the food was delicious , the beach was clean , the mini golf was fun . We went on a two day desert trip that was absolutly fantastic and im going back this year . And the entertainment day and night was brilliant .
Fabulous
Stayed in this hotel in mid april!!! waiters friendly, wide variety of food available but the overall highlight would be the animation team! always gave you something to do!! watersports on beach including very cheap paragliding! taxis readily available at front of hotel to take you into monastir or sousse!! would recommend to families!! rooms very clean!! pool area and hotel overall very clean!!!
