This is possibly the best resort I've stayed in to date, and considering Tunisia has a complete different culture to Europe, they cater very well for Europeans (particularly Brits) with their entertainment, food, and facilities.
Agreed the evening entertainment could been better, but that I feel is the typical kind of entertainment hotels believe tourists will enjoy, and I admit a few of the shows were fantastic.
During the time I was there I watched shows including those of belly dancers and stunt performers. The food was great, always looked appetising and catered for those wishing to try local dishes, and the more selective, and always included a typical British meal or two.
The staff I found were always very friendly and polite, and were also incredibly intelligent. Maybe the problem few people have found is that they weren't treating these people for their true worth.
After talking to a barman/waiter we discovered he spoke 7 languages fluently -was probably better educated than myself, my mother and father combined- and many others were of similar abilities.
Our rooms were always kept spotless, and we always found clean linen/towels when expected. On numerous occasions the maids also tidied up small areas of our room, a nice surprise when you think you'll have to go back after a long trip out to an evening of tidying up, sorting out, etc.
They also spoke very good English (probably among other languages) and were very polite and gracious towards guests. The rooms were comfortable and of a very good standard for a fairly poor area.
The bathroom was particularly good and one of the best I have ever found whilst in a foreign hotel/resort. The hotel area too was kept very clean, with little or no litter anywhere and clean floors and patios, safe for little feet to be running around on!
The resort itself was fantastic for both couples and family holiday makers, as it catered for all ages. There was plenty of space around the pool terrace, and on the beach which made it an even more relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
The pool always looked spotless as did the sandy beach. Possibly the only complaint I could have about that side of things was jellyfish! (hardly a responsibility of the hotel staff). Although on that point, first aid treatment was also fantastic, especially compared to our lets face it, rubbish NHS system.
As a large group of 7 we chose the two day (one night) Sahara excursion, an amazing visit that I'll never forget. This was all planned extremely well with the hotel and the travel company.
This trip showed us a true taste of north Africa, including their food, culture, homes, Camel rides, and a basic stay out in the middle of the desert. Which may not be appealing to some, but I found this the time of my life!
With one or two minor problems (which on the whole the hotel cannot be held responsible for) the holiday was a definite 10/10 for everything, I couldn't have asked for a better holiday.

I am only 16 years of age and already I have been to England, Spain, Lanzarote, New York and now Tunisia, and out of all these holidays I can honestly say Tunisia was the best by far! We arrived early hours in the morning to the hotel and as soon as we entered the staff were over helping us with our luggage and being as friendly and as helpful as they could! The reception staff didn’t waste anytime getting us to our rooms! It was brilliant!
Every morning a cleaner would come into your room around 7 so you would be waking up and having fresh towels to wash yourself with! After when you would go down for breakfast the cleaner would then come in and change your bed sheets, empty the bins and just generally clean up! They were very polite and helpful! The rooms were basic but very clean and the air conditioning was a huge bonus!
Before going on holidays I was dreading the food that would be served but to my surprise it wasn’t bad! There was never a day were we had the same food!! it was fantastic! There was such a selection to choose from
The pool area was unbelievable! It was so clean and tidy! There were four pools which helped! There was the baby pool, the medium pool and the big pool, there was also a pool indoors! There were so many activities put on for the children and the adults! There was also some music played by the pool which was also enjoyable! Anytime you got thirsty or hungry there was always a waiter nearby to bring stuff to you!
At half past eight there was a mini disco put on for the children which was good as it gave the parents time to relax! Then there was bingo (ASHASHA) it was also brilliant! You were able to win up to 130 deener! I loved the entertainment staff! They really did make our holiday! Rambo, Nino, Bobo, Joe and of course Momo. Bara Bara! Shpeak! Let’s not forget Mario their manager! I loved them all! Also our wee waiter, Fabio.
I would recommend this holiday to anyone and I am already planning on going back next year!

I’ve just returned from the best holiday I've ever been on, I went with my mum, nana, brother and boyfriend. Everything about it was brilliant. We all went for my mums 40th and it’s a birthday she will remember.
We went for 2 weeks and that wasn't enough for us. The hotel was lovely inside and out, the rooms are a very good size and the air conditioning is fantastic. We went half board and the food was lovely, I'm a very fussy eater but I found something different to eat each night.
The staff are so friendly, they couldn't do enough for you. The animation team was great; they worked very hard on keeping everybody happy. The pool was very big and very clean. The beach was gorgeous, there was lots of water sports on which was great, we all went on the banana boat, which was very fun. Me and my boyfriend had a go on the paragliding, this was great and we could see for miles.
You can get waiter service on the beach and around the pool, which is great for us lazy ones :-) You have to pay for the loungers but it isn’t a problem as it only works out about 75p a day. We made friends with a lot of waiters, one especially and he got us a table every night to watch the entertainment- thanks fab ;-)
We also got the Noddy Train into Monastir, this was very fun. The hotel as got its own disco, we went here every night, the music was very good, we loved it in there. (Especially my mum and nan) Whilst we were there, Manchester United were playing, so we went into sousse to an English pub, it was great and the beer is stronger in there than it is in the hotel.
It only costs a few dinars in a taxi. Taxi's are just across the road, only use the yellow ones as they are a lot cheaper. There’s not a bad thing to say about Skanes El Hana, we all loved every minute of it and will definitely be returning again.

This holiday was probably the worst experience of all of the holidays that I have ever had.
From the flights through to the accommodation, food and staff the service was very poor.
Reception staff rude and unattentive, the maid did not clean properly or change the bed linen once during our two week stay, we also only had four sets of towels throughout the two weeks.
When I did ask for a towel, as the maid had not left enough, I was shouted at by the man who told me that he had left me four towels, then when I went to reception I had a hand put in face as I tried to speak to the receptionist, when he walked away another receptionist shouted at me. I don't think that I have ever been so publicly humiliated in all of my life.
The food was passable for the first few days as we managed to eat a main meal in the pool side restaurant, however you can only stomach pizza and chips, pasta and chicken sandwich for a few days. The food in the half board restaurant was poor, each evening the food had flies crawling over it and was barely warm. Food ok if you can eat fish, lamb and beef. In two weeks they served turkey three times. I managed to eat five meals in that restaurant and was poorly after each meal.
The younger waiters would not leave my daughter alone, constantly pestering her asking her to go out for a drink or to the local disco. This we complained about and found out that the waiters are not to touch you or engage in any such conversation with you.
The pool looked clean and inviting but during the second week several people were complaining of not being well - all showing the same symptoms - sore eyes, runny noses sore throats and generally feeling unwell. Several needed treatment from the Doctor who said that they had picked p a bacterial infection from the pool.
The entertainment team worked really hard for their money, but each day repeated itself, as did the music! The pool side offered a range of activities during the day that you could join in with.
The beach is what made this holiday for us, beautiful and clean. Had no problems with the sellers along the beach, if you said no then they left you alone. Plenty of things to do along the beach all at very reasonable prices. If you enjoy water sports then you can have a lot of fun.
The local bus is very reliable and cheap into Sousse and Monastir. The Medina in Sousse is fantastic for leather goods, silver and shoes and trainers! Lots of other bits and pieces to be found and always haggle. The further in you go the better the prices.
Would I ever come back here - No. The brochure tells you it is a four star hotel in reality it would pass with a squeeze as no more than a two star.

Just back from 2 weeks in the Skanes EL Hana hotel with my wife, two children a 4 year old and a 5 month baby and my mother in law. This was the worst holiday of my life. I am not going to go into everything that happened but if you have a choice I would change to another resort.
We visited a place called port kantui which is where the main water park and marina is and it has restaurants, shops etc whereas skanes El hana has only a few water sports. The only advice I can give if you are still going is not to go to the downstairs half board restaurant because the food is revolting and when we were their 22 guests were moved on the second day to the full board restaurant where the food was warm and varied.
The entertainment if you can call it that is depressing especially if you go for two weeks like us. They also constantly forget to bring you your change and tell you they forget because they were busy - and I am talking about a few pounds each time. If you want to leave the hotel you have to negotiate a price for taxi before you get in and don’t let the hotel order one because it is a scam.
If you want to go and just sit on the beach for two weeks it would probably suit and my 4 year old enjoyed it, but then it did have a pool. I met 3 other families who are from my area and they had older children and they were of the same impression as myself - I honestly could not recommend it but then some peoples comments were very positive which is why I booked - I wonder will bad reports be published.

I have to say that after reading some of the comments on this site we were very apprehensive about going on this holiday! On arrival at the hotel our bags were taken from us and direct to our room, very good service indeed for 1 in the morning.
The room itself is basic could do with a revamp but on that note it is Very clean and has everything you need really we found no faults at all there I think if you go on holiday to staying your room there is something wrong.
The meals have been fantastic there have been some occasions where there has been nothing I like but then again you can not please everyone! We did not get the same meal twice in the 2 weeks we were there.
What can we say about the staff at El Hana?? They are superb I will go so far to say that they helped make our holiday the success it was. The Animation staff are great, some of the evening entertainment is not brilliant but again you can not please everyone.
The hotel grounds were immaculately kept and stunning to look at. The only problem we had was you had to pay for your lounger but by all accounts that is the same throughout Tunisia. On a serious note though do get a crepe from the poolside bar they have added inches to my waist line as you just cant resist! We arrived home last night on a very sad note as we had such a fab time and would go back in a heart beat!

The hotel was really nice when we arrived. It was very clean and tidy.
There was lots to do at the hotel with lots of entertainment. I am 14 years old and I really enjoyed playing games throughout the day like darts, volleyball, aqua gym, aerobics and the dance in the afternoon. There was also entertainment at night. There was a mini disco for the children and then bingo then a show at 10pm.
Everything about the holiday was fantastic. You don’t hear much aircraft noise.

The hotel has two parts to this hotel, a nasty 1970s front part and side wings which we were moved to after one night by our rep. the food was good. The beach was very clean and the cleaners so helpful (better than the very bored attitude desk staff) the pool was clean.
Very easy access to Sousse and Monistir town centre by local bus.
The other guests were very polite and enjoyed the place, however most other Brits whinge that it’s not like Europe and other med hols they have had, considering that it’s not Europe and doesn’t cater for booze bingers I think they (the Tunisian tourist board etc) do a very good job.
My 4th visit to Tunisia and enjoy the variety, culture, history and relaxation.
Role on our next trip.

Superb, truly superb, all of the staff are fantastic, always ready to help, the food was varied and pretty much caters for all tastes, though as has been said veggies and vegans will be disappointed with choice throughout the country (trust me we traveled literally all round the country during our stay!) compared to other hotels Skanes el Hana was superb, we were lucky enough to drop into the Chams el Hana in Sousse and the el Hana International in Tunis, and to be honest there was not a lot of difference between the 4 and 5 star accommodation, remember this is 4 star in a poor country, the towels were changed daily, and bedding every other day.
The grounds are looked after extensively, there was always someone painting or trimming the trees. The on site entertainment is a hoot, thanks again to Kimo and friends for all the laughs! The American bar is a good place to relax, with a guest pianist on 3 nights a week, and again one of the best waiters I have ever met.
Outside the grounds, on the beach, take a 2 minute walk either direction for a choice of water sports, jet skis, paragliding, jet skiing, boating, pedalos, kayaks, banana boats, etc etc. Obviously, again with everywhere in the country, there is someone trying to sell you something, but to the hotel's credit, their beach attendants try to keep the beach clear of the rogue traders. Getting about couldn’t be easier, the 'Noddy train' runs from the hotel forecourt, going to Monastir and Sousse, there are always taxis across the road - pay 5 dinar to go to Monastir, 6 to Sousse and 10 to Port el Kantaoui.
Remember everywhere involves bartering - if the driver doesn't agree with these prices, walk away, the price suddenly drops! Anyway, all in all a great hotel, great staff, great entertainment, great food, and a pleasure, recommended, I certainly hope to go back someday.

This was the best Holiday of my life!!!!!!!!!
I am just 15 years old and i can say that i think people of my age will find this holiday so enjoyable!!! When i arrived i was a bit worried because it look a bit old fashioned but it was very welcoming. There were 14 of us all together at the ages of 7, 8, 11, 12, 15, 19, 20, 26, 27, 38, 39 40, 46 and 52.
And we were never bored. we were given our hotel keys as soon as we arrived and settled in very quickly. there were big wardrobes that catered for as many people who were staying in the room. When I first went into my room that I was sharing with my 19 year old cousin it wasn’t what I was expecting but it was clean and tidy. I think it could do with a lick of paint. When we had unpacked we went and got our other relatives from the other four rooms we had and headed out down to the pizzeria restaurant by the pool. there pizzas were delicious and advise people to eat there.
When I first tried the food in the buffet restaurant I was not happy at all but then my mum explained to me that we were in the north of Africa and shouldn’t expect to eat what we ate at home and i soon got used to it. The pool was absolutely lovely and was always clean. You had to pay 1dina 500 for sunbeds but i think that was very cheap and could have been a lot worse. The beach was directly on the other side of the pool. And offered many activities one of which I enjoyed. which I think is called paragliding I cant be sure of the name but it is when you are taken in the air by the speed of the boat on a parachute.
When in Tunisia we went to the local markets in Sousse and in Monastir and found that the people are very busy trying to make money for them selves they will constantly ask you do you want to buy anything but walking away will end any trouble if they do not leave you alone. My mum and dad were once offered 2000 camels for me.
Back at the hotel the cleaning was done when ever requested you are given a hook to hang the outside of your hotel room to let the maids know you want your cleaning to be done. The entertainment is brilliant and we all enjoyed ourselves. the bingo that was played every night is very fun and cost 1-2 dinas and you can end up winning up to 90 dinas. which I won. the mini disco for children is every night and is so much fun
And I am embarrassed to say that I joined in but it is so much fun!!!! During the day around the pool the staff are so much help especially Sam who we called "Rigby". during the day they did water aerobics. water polo, and contest in the pool. At the end of this holiday I just wanted to go home to get my cat and go back to Tunisia again. It was a very enjoyable two weeks of my life and i will go back one day when I am older with my mates and show them how fun it is!!!!

Nice hotel with fantastic pool and beach facilities. Staff are friendly except for the fruitcake in the bank! We were concerned after reading other reviews of this hotel but these fears were unfounded. really enjoyed our stay here, night time entertainment is a bit slack but that’s Tunisia in general, not the hotel.

This hotel although it looks nice on the outside, is really bad.
The room had wires sticking out of the walls which were by the bed. Although we highlighted this to the reception staff, we got nothing more than a grunt.
We asked to move rooms but this was out of the question until the morning!
The rooms were dirty and of a very low standard. The bed linen looked old and the towels smelt.
The food is very poor in the restaurant and not much variety - the chips tasted like they had been re fried.
We also used the Grill which was a restaurant downstairs by the pool; a cockroach crawled up my husbands arm while we were eating.
I guess this was the last straw, we moved hotels.
The entertainment is nil and run by the same two people and was never on time.
Although some of the staff were nice, this doesn’t make the hotel any better.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. 1/10.
