Estival Park Apartments Reviews
" We stayed at the Estival Park... "
Submitted By: Mrs E GrahamMy only problems were; the amount of ants in the apartment and the fridge did not work, however my husbands parents (also travel at the same time) had no ploblem with their appartments.
I would recommend these apartments to families and people seeking a quiet holiday.

Submitted By: Mrs A JonesThe apartments are 2 mins from the beach and bus stops and local shops. Tarragona and Cambrilles are easy to reach by bus and also Barcelona. I would recommend the Waterfront for something to eat, it is a great place. The best thing of the holiday is that there are no timeshare people to bother you all the time.
All in all it was one of the best holidays we have had, and would certainly go again.
" We went on a family holiday with 3... "
Submitted By: Mrs M HowardWe were hungry and were told that snacks were on all day till eleven at night. So we had a burger and chips which I could not complain about, also drinks were unlimited and you could help yourself which was beneficial with having 3 children.
Got the keys and were impressed with room as it had adjoining room and also air con. Got changed and went down to the pool which was a bit disappointing as the toddler pool was to shallow for my younger 2 and the other pool was far too deep as they were not strong swimmers.
Went to our room to get changed for our tea which the restaurant opened at 7.30pm there was lots to choose from ranging from salads to freshly cooked chicken and steak and the cakes were absolutely beautiful.
The entertainment was really good on the first night and then went downhill from there sometimes there were none on. You could use the other Estival park 1 and 3 but there entertainment was no better. You would just start to get in the mood for having a drink and a laugh until the waiters would start coming over and taking your chairs and tables it was only 11.30pm.
The waiters and bar people were very arrogant. I had a bit of trouble with them because one of my children had spilt ice cream on the floor they were always telling every bodies children off for something trivial, they reduced my son to tears so I was not happy. This is meant to be a child orientated hotel but it wasn’t.
I would not go back again unless they sorted the staff out. The bar was on later, and the pool was made safer for young children.

Submitted By: Miss JR GentileThe apartment were lovely and clean and so big!! There was only two of us and we ended up in a two bed apartment with a huge living/ dining/ kitchen room which for a large family would double up as another two beds. Large balcony overlooking the pool and could just about see the sea as we were on the top floor (3rd storey).
Close to La pineda where there's a fab water park guaranteed to keep adults and kids entertained for hours. If you don't mind walking it's about a 20min walk into the main resort of either Salou or La Pineda (opposite directions) or about a £5 for a taxi. Bus stop is just outside the apartments as well.
However, cap Salou has a lovely quiet beach and plenty of restaurants if you don't want to venture further out. Have been back to the area since and still love the place. Would recommend.

Submitted By: Mr I RycroftThe resort itself didn’t have a lot of shops but was nice and Salou is only 5 mins on the bus. The best place to eat in La Pineda was The Waterfront. Julie the waitress was great, such a friendly person, and please say hello from Pearl, Ian, Matt and Rachel from the Isle of Man.
The waterpark at La Pineda was a good day out and also Portaventura is definitely a must for all age’s .I don’t think we would go back there but we enjoyed our stay there.
" I will try not to put Estival Park... "
Submitted By: Mrs S HudsonIt was a great base for travelling to Salou or Barcelona and the water park is right next door.
We were in the self catering blocks at the back of the complex (near the beach) but were on the top floor apartment which had a gate at the bottom of the stairs but not the top. When we had the front door open we had to put the pram across the top of the stairs to stop my son from going down them.
I asked reception to move us but they said there was nothing available and they even had wheelchair users in the top floor apartment opposite who had to come down the stairs on their bottom and leave the wheelchair outside the steps. Although they did offer to send a workman round to put a gate on the top!
The apartment itself was a bit tatty and in need of some TLC. The washing machine is a real bonus. There was cleaning equipment in the room and it didn't take 5 mins to tidy up after the cleaners! :o)
The pool areas are very private, one pool per unit of blocks but there are locked gates to each block unit and they only provide you with one key per apartment. So your party have to go back together or wait for someone else to let you in.
The children's entertainment is very good for 5 years up. There is a mini disco in the evening but this didn't start till 10pm (bit late for an under 2 year old) but we managed to keep him awake for it most nights.
If you are self-catering and like to eat out, you are restricted within La Pineda of where to have a variety of meals. There are about 10 restaurants and 10 bars along the strip but the restaurants closed around 11.30pm in September (except the Italian restaurant right next to the hotel (beach end) but it was quite expensive).
There is a fantastic bus route which takes you to Salou (about 30 mins journey and 1 Euro each). In Salou, it is a real hub of excitement. Everything you can want for eating, drinking, entertainment etc.
I would recommend this hotel for a family holiday and quieter pace and the beach is lovely but I think you get better service and get more use out of the facilities if you are all inclusive.
If you are self-catering, you can be made to feel like the poor relations and don't get the full benefit from the complex.... or maybe that was just me!

Submitted By: Not SpecifiedIt's a big hotel with friendly staff that are up for a laugh.
There are 3 pools to choose from & plenty of sun beds, we didn’t have to do the usual thing where you get up early & reserve your place.
I would definitely recommend all inclusive as you get a lot out of it. It’s free for you to use the indoor pool facilities, sauna, steam room & Jacuzzi, which you normally have to pay for.
You help yourself to drinks, bottled water, ice lollies & a Mr. Softy machine! The food was lovely; they made kebabs some nights. & if you’re all inclusive you can snack all day till 11pm.
We made plenty of friends out there too, we went into Salou almost every night which is a cheap, 5 min bus ride away & theirs loads of lively bars & places to go. The bus stop is just outside the hotel too.
We went to Portaventura which is highly recommended & again, easy to get to.
I found our holiday reps very helpful, & saw them out in Salou 1 night & we had a laugh with them.
The rooms where impressive, couldn't fault them. Good size, good aircon, large balcony etc. We didn't visit Barcelona but have heard that’s a good day out!
This was such a good holiday & the price was reasonable booked on the eclipse direct website, I've constantly recommended this hotel as it would be hard to top, & I’m returning for August 07 with my boyfriend.

Submitted By: Mr A WardleOnce at our apartment we were quite pleased, the exterior could have done with a lick of paint as most of the other blocks had been done but ours was obviously the last to be started.
When we came to going to bed the problems started - the 2 seater settee / pull out bed was a joke and was totally inadequate for sleeping on, it was so uncomfortable that we never sat on it never mind slept on it. To keep my poor kids from having to visit the chiropractors we ended up getting all the spare blankets out of the wardrobe and laying them on the apartment floor topping them off with the cushions from the settee and then covering them with the bed sheets. This was as good as it got for sleeping arrangements. The 2 single beds in the bedroom weren’t much better but at least we were off the floor.
I would never go back to these apartments as I do not pay £2400 for my kids to sleep on the floor.
When we tried to complain it fell on deaf ears by both the hotel and the rep (who was totally useless) and told that all the beds were the same.
The one thing that has niggled away at me for some time now is the fact that we had to pay a supplement because we were a family of 4 and not 4 adults, but however you looked at it 4 adults would not have been able to sleep in this apartment - it was a total joke.
This year we have been to America and slept in king size beds throughout our holiday and I do not think we will ever go back to Spain.

Submitted By: Mr S CummingsHotel: We stayed in Estival Park 2, which was a very clean and well presented hotel. Large pool was very deep (I'm 6'5" and could stand at one corner of the pool), they also had a toddlers pool. There was a lifeguard on duty. Note: They didn't allow inflatables in the big pool, but allowed small inflatables in the toddlers pool (which was a very big disappointment to my kids & me).
The food was superb, can't fault the choice or quality. Drinks were also free-flowing, with a self-service area where soft & some alcoholic drinks were available. Ice-cream & lollies were always available, great idea.
Apart from two big issues, the hotel was excellent. 1st issue: Come 11:30 the drinks stopped, music off and nowhere in the hotel was a drink to be bought. The entertainment was also pretty poor (only 1 hour per night). 2nd issue: As I had 2 family rooms I had no chance of keeping hold of either room for the day of my departure. So had to use the communal shower in Estival Park 3 or 1 (yes, EP2 doesn't have any). There was 1 shower in each of the men's & ladies pool-side toilets (not nice at all). If you wanted a towel, you have to give 5 euro deposit for each towel. Something we wasn't told about till I got there. Lucky for me I had 20 euros left, but not everyone was so lucky.
Resort : very quiet. Not for anyone looking for a late drink with some life. We had to travel to Salou a few nights for a bit of fun. The kids wanted to go somewhere they played music (other than salsa). Salou was only 10-15 mins away on the 24hour bus.
Porta Ventura: Pretty good, but for the ride-junkies like my family be prepared for disappointment. There are only 2 rides that rate as excellent. The rest are pretty tame. However, the park is still excellent, but it is very big and loads to do. so try spread over multiple days if possible. or a full day for the brave. The firework show at 23:45 is worth staying for, very impressive.
Water Park: Best thing about the resort, there is a water park 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Spent a great day there and the rides were great fun. Food was pretty poor.
Note: Both parks are very strict on height restrictions. Check the rides before taking little ones.
First Choice: Local Knowledge was poor, and unreliable. They spent all of the welcome meeting selling stuff and hardly anytime on the hotel or the resort. So don't expect them to give you anything useful.
Overall, I would not recommend this holiday to anyone who wants an active nightlife after a relaxing day (like my family). It is a great relaxing resort and hotel, if that’s all you want.

If you are after thrill seeking rides then port Aventura is just the ticket, with lots for all ages, beware though as there are alot of height restrictions on water rides for the little ones. There is also a new ride for 2005 which is the "hurakan condor, anyone can look up the park on the website, plus next door to the ride park there is also the Costa Caribe water park, with lazy rivers, loads of water slides.
Absolutely a fun packed holiday for people with children, the hotels all have magnificent food and entertainment which all members of families can relax and know the kids are taken care of throughout your stay.
Including mini clubs for all kids, but unfortunately the under 2's parents do have to stay at the mini club park and supervise.
Down at the beach front you have the local water park "aquapolis" which has even more slides for everyone and the parents can relax while children have fun on the section just for kids, they have dolphin and sea lion shows where u can have your picture taken with the sea lions.
If anyone doesn’t like heights then the great big quarter pipe is not for them, but if u do like a bit of height then challenge your family or friends to go on this water slide as it is very high and daring. The beach stretches for miles and you can walk into the sea for ages before it even gets close to your upper chest.
So if anyone is looking for a great family holiday then this is the very place.
Submitted By: Ms J MacLoughlinThere was a heat wave when we were there and with no air conditioning in our apartment, it was uncomfortable - not much to be complaining about! The apartment was cleaned and linen changed just once during the week. While we were staying in the apartments, we still had access to the three hotels and all facilities i.e. sports complex, tennis courts, indoors swimming pools etc (extra charge). There was daily and nightly entertainment for hotel and apartment guests.
We arrived at the complex at 11.45 am and check-in to our apartment was not till 4.00 pm - found this strange and had to hang around till 4.00 on a very hot day!! However, the hotel did arrange to take in the luggage and we went into Salou for the afternoon.
It is a very large complex and you will do lots of walking but could never be bored. Close to the beach, shops and restaurants. Bus to Salou/Portaventua/Tarragonna/Cambrills close by. Medical Centre just beside complex. Aquapolis Waterpark next door. Plenty to do and found a week too short to enjoy the many attractions. Visited, Portaventura Theme Park (we visited by night - too hot during the day), Aquapolis Water park. We took a day trip to Nou Camp FC Barcelona and Barcelona Zoo organised by our First Choice Rep Kevin and it was very well organised.
Found the only Irish Pub in La Pineda - Henneseys and was given a very warm welcome by the owner, Bridget and her staff. Fantastic Host and there were plenty of activities for adults and kids every night!! We ate most of the time in the Waterfront Restaurant just beside the complex serving excellent food and great breakfasts.
All in all a great holiday and will be returning again very soon. The Holiday Rep was available every morning and evening in the hotel and was extremely helpful.

Submitted By: Mr L KellyBeware of the Caretaker, this man is son of Hitler, he has no problem telling you that you can’t do this, you can’t do that, but has no problem in trying to poison everyone in the pool by dumping 5 lts of chemical into it during the day when there are people swimming in it. ( he poured these chemicals within 2 feet of my daughter who was swimming in the pool at the time). This is his idea of cleaning it, because we were there for 2 weeks and he didn’t bother cleaning it at all.
I have just returned from there and the place was a building site, I was awoken one morning to the sound of an Angle Grinder cutting a tile on my bedroom window sill at 8.25am.
The only music we could hear was either power drills, angle grinders or electric power cutters be used all around us.
Beware if you have children, they have put up a sign telling everyone that tee shirts are not allowed into the pool! despite this being in contravention of every cancer prevention rule.
Outside of the Complex the Resort is Superb, there is a good selection of shops including a great Bar/Restaurant called the WATERFRONT, which is only 3 min walk from the apartments, the food was brill and the staff very courteous and nice.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel/apartment complex to anyone.
