We booked a really cheap deal through Lastminute.com and were a bit worried. Don't be!

The room was luxurious (especially the bathroom) with fab views over the river and Lake Michigan. The hotel is 2 mins walk from the 'L' and close to Grant Park and the shopping areas.

We took the 'L' train from the airport and left one of our bags on the train. The 'L' staff were less than helpful and so we rushed to the hotel. The concierge was excellent and very calming! He managed to rouse someone at the train authority security dept - even though it was a Saturday - and managed to get the train searched and they found our bag. It had our passports in it so he effectively saved our holiday!

We didn't eat at the hotel and our only problem was finding restaurants nearby suitable for a family. They were either quite fancy 'pre-theatre' type meals or 'cafeteria' type places. We did like "The Corner Bakery" for breakfast, which is a few minutes’ walk along the riverside.
