Jul 2005, Mr SR Rodriguez

This Hotel is not anything like the pictures. When we went to the hotel, we were sent across the street to a less appealing location.
As my wife said to our friends the next day "I think the hotel took customers by the hour!" It was clean, yet nothing like we expected. I would never stay there again!

My husband and I spent 4 nights in this hotel that we had booked based mostly on location. It is in a great area, surrounded by creperies and bars and there is a market on Saturday mornings at the Edgar Quinet Metro stop which is close by. Unfortunately, the hotel was... more

Hotel Description totally inaccurate.
We recently went to Paris for the first time. My husband researched hotels and told me about the Unic Renoir. Based on the pictures and list of amenities I agreed. Upon arrival we were instantly dissappointed. We were sent to our room that was not even close to being clean. (I think the previous guests literally just walked out) After asking to change rooms we were switched to a room that was even smaller than the first and still contained remnants of those past guests as well. The description stated that there were such amenities as a... more
great for family
My family stayed at the duplex studio at the new wing in mid July, 2004. It was great for the family, as the children could sleep downstair with their own TV. You will have to pay extra for the kitchen utility, but it was sorthwhile, as our children miss Chinese food a lot, and I ended up cooking some of our supper. The location is great, near to subway, and they have a nice open-air marketplace around the corner early in the morning. The room is clean, but detail work was not mediculous. Window panes would shake while opening the windows,... more
Charming and friendly...
We were nervous when we saw other reviews. Very quaint hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. Our room was in the courtyard and was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was marble with a nice big tub. Breakfast was what breakfast should be in Paris. Pastries and bread with wonderful coffee. Couldn't have been better! Staff was so friendly we looked forward to seeing them every morning! This hotel was a great value and perfect location to stay. If you're looking for elegance, stay at the Ritz. But this hotel is perfect for the... more
Hotel Still Under Construction, Not Very Nice Rooms, Very Small!!
The first impression of the hotel when you walk in the door, it looks like a nice hotel. But just make sure you get what you booked. We booked a Superior Room for three people in this hotel (also known as Residence Renoir St Germain) after reading that all 31 rooms were newly refurbished. The refurbished rooms seem to be the apartments extending to the rear which appear to be much higher quality. Our room upstairs in the main building was very small with one double bed & a small cot squeezed into a corner alcove. The room... more
Great for the family
We were quite pleased with our three night stay at the Residences- we were not in the hotel. It was quiet, convenient, clean, and staff was most accomodating and friendly. I enjoyed being able to stay in a place where our children could be with us (duplex- parents upstairs and kids downstairs) and where we had a refrigerator and sink for snacks and breakfast. Only drawback for our family of five is that we had just one bathroom (upstairs- not one downstairs). Children (3) were in pullout bed and a rollaway bed. Perhaps we were just too many... more
Superb
My mother and I spent four nights with Hotel Unic in July, 2004 as part of a package deal, and I panicked after the London part of our journey. After 3 sleepless nights in London, we arrived exhausted, hot, and desperate for cool air and quiet. We couldn't have been more pleased. We found both at Hotel Unic. Not only that we found the sound of birds in the courtyard, a cool breeze (we were on the 3rd floor, even), and a helpful and courteous staff. We found ourselves well located to bus and metro, and with wonderful food and... more
Hotel under construction - no rebates despite work all day long
The Hotel Unic appears to be a nice neighborhood hotel... Yet during a recent visit with several family members renting several rooms, the hotel was under major construction and did not at all respond to our demands to either stop the work or give us a price reduction. The ongoing work included tiling and painting in the breakfast room, jack-hammers in the entrance and dust all over the place. (The construction is supposed to continue all summer). After much insistance, a 30% reduction was promised, yet not at all applied when the... more
Nice Location
Location was great. This cute little hotel is located right in the middle of the best block in Montparnasse, which is brimming with creperie cafes, brasseries and shops. The metro is a short 1 minute walk to the corner providing you with access to anywhere in Paris. The main boulevard is a short 1 minute walk in the other direction providing access to cabs (which are surprisingly reasonable). The hotel has two sections, the main hotel (which was just ok) and a brand new efficiency apartment section. Each apartment comes with a refrigerator,... more
Parisienne Location & Value
Bang for the buck. New mgmt and renovations. Room was nice and clean with full french windows opening upon a courtyard. Location was 15min walk south of Latin Qtr.
Shocking
Wish I had found these reviews before we booked this hotel. We were more concerned with location when making our booking, but this is without doubt the worst hotel we have stayed in. It was interesting to read about renovations in Sept 2003, because there were still workmen creating chaos with electric cables trailing everywhere and noise and dust all day - no apology or explanation from hotel staff, who were all ( with the exception of the Tunisian waiter ) extremely rude and ill mannered ).The hotel bill crept up by the day as charges... more
