Just a few steps from Saint-Germain-des Pres and the Latin quarter, the UNIC hotel stands in the heart of the legendary Montparnasse district. Each room is sound-proofed and equipped with bathroom, hairdryer, satellite TV, minibar, direct dial phone, laundry service and modem socket. All rooms are air-conditioned.

This Hotel is not anything like the pictures. When we went to the hotel, we were sent across the street to a less appealing location.
As my wife said to our friends the next day "I think the hotel took customers by the hour!" It was clean, yet nothing like we expected. I would never stay there again!

My husband and I spent 4 nights in this hotel that we had booked based mostly on location. It is in a great area, surrounded by creperies and bars and there is a market on Saturday mornings at the Edgar Quinet Metro stop which is close by.
Unfortunately, the hotel was extremely disappointing. Our room was dirty with peeling wallpaper and stained carpet. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom and the proportions of the bathroom and the passageways required contortionist skills!
The staff (with the exception of the Tunisian breakfast waiter) were rude and ill mannered. The cost of our stay went up by the day, with charges being added separately for breakfast, tax, safe deposit box and most laughably, for holding our luggage on our final day. This involved our luggage sitting at the reception desk, being covered by dust from ongoing noisy renovations. Anyone could have taken it at any point during the day, so I’m not quite sure what the charge covered. All in all, this is the worst hotel we have stayed in and we would advise against a visit to the truly 'unique' Unic.
