Hotel Serhs Montemar

Just come back from a holiday in pineda de mar booked through freedom direct. Don't book with them. It took me numerous phone calls to get my paperwork from them. When we arrived at barcelona airport we had to wait two and half hours for the transfer to our hotel. When I booked I told them there was a party of five disabled people and a 2 yr old in the group. I rang them from Barcelona airport and they just said write a letter of complaint when you get home. When we arrived at the hotel even though they knew we had disabled and learning difficulties with us they put us up on the third floor two corridors away from the nearest lift. When I complained they said I would have to pay a supplement to be moved. The hotel itself is terrible, the walls are paper thin and the noise is flippin terrrible you can hear the people in the next room snoring. The hotel would do nothing about it except they offered me a disabled room on the first floor and they said they would put 6 beds in it. I refused. On the day of our departure we where supposed to get picked up at 10 to 7 in the morning from the railway station yes thats right the station cos they dont pick up or drop off at your hotel. The coach never came for us so in order to get our flight which was at 11 o clock we had to get two trains to the airport. 11 people five who are disabled one wheelchair one pram and 11 suitcases it was a nightmare. When I rang them when we arrived home they just said put it in writing. Our whole holiday was a trauma.

A very nice hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean. Walls of rooms a bit thin so just hope you don't get someone who snores or talks loudly in the next room - we did! There are no hairdryers in the rooms, these have to be borrowed from reception and they never had one when we asked (we didn't take ours because we thought they would be a fixture of the room).
The food was good - you get what you pay for. Always a choice and plenty of fresh fruit. Our room overlooked the car park which wasn't great but it was quiet, we would rather have had a room overlooking the pool area.
Pineda is a very small resort but the excellant train service means you are within reach of lots of places, including Barcelona - just over an hour away and worth the trip. One way you have Malgrat de Mar and Santa Susanna, both very nice and about 20 mins walk the other way you have Calella (or you can get the train along the beach).
Pool area is good but sun beds a bit close together, wouldn't have wanted to be there in the height of the season.
Be careful when booking with Global Late Deals as it seems transfers from the airport are not included, or at least ours weren't. We managed to get to the resort but it cost us nearly 60 Euros to get back to Girona Airport when we were coming home.
On the whole a good place for a short break, we would go back!

I booked the holiday through the internet not really knowing what we were going to end up with. My husband and I are retired and once a year take my daughter, husband, and four children away for a week in the sun.
All we want is 1) Nice pool. 2) Close to nice beach. 3) All Inclusive so no worry over food. 4) Reasonable cost.
Last year we stayed at Calella at the H Top Amaika. It was fantastic except the hotel pool was too small and hardly any sun loungers for the size of the hotel. But everything else made up for it.
This year we could not get a four star and had to accept a three star. Hence we did not know what to expect.
However, we loved it at the Montemar in Pineda de Mar. Beautiful pool, plenty of sun loungers. Excellent kids club with dedicated leaders. All the children made friends.
The food was fine. Such a choice that there was always something for everyone. And if the kids were really fussy they served pizza, hot dogs and burgers from 11.00 - 4.00 every day.
I can highly recommend everything about the hotel.
