What a brilliant place!!!

Jun 2010, jotec

Myself and my partner, along with my brother and his girlfriend nd 5 kids aged between 2 and 13 have just returned from a 2 weeks stay with Thomson Al Fresco!!! We were very sceptical as we stayed in L'escala last yr in a villa so were expecting a big come down from a villa!!! We can only say we loved here better! more freedom for the kids, they swam every day and we didnt always have to go with them!!! The lifeguards were brilliant with them and they had a fantastic time. The games in the evening at Panorama are also brill along with the disco and entertainment afterwards. Drinks are reasonable but we made used of the 2 for 1 between 6-7 and stocked up!! We travelled out to Marineland, which is a definite must, just for the dolphin show!! Waterworld brill also, and the Natilus Glass Bottomed boat which leaves from l'estartit beach is a great few hours out. L'escala beach in our opinion is alot better than l'estartit and having a car is always good so you can venture out!!! Jocs was excellent, kids had a whale of a time!! Castell Montgri is a great site for families and we cant wait to go again!!! We got a brill deal with thomson for 2 families and cant fault the site, accomodation, and reps at all!!!xxxxx

I first visited this site over 10 years ago. I travelled with my mum,my 3 children,my niece, and 3 children my mum was fostering at the time. The youngest been 4 and the eldst child 16. We travelled by coach.Yes me my mum and 7 children on a coach. Was we mad or brave or a little bot of both???
Well the first time must of made an impression as i have been back almost every year since. I have traveled since by coach. yes it is a long way to go but if flying is a problem it is doable.I have also been back and took our own caravan and stopped in the touring section. Also we have all flew out. I have booked with the variuos agents on the site. By far the best Go4spain. They just cant do enough for you.And truly do offer a taylor made holiday.
The site is clean and the staff hard working.
the resort its self is as near to true spain you can get in a holiday resort setting. Not a KFC or McDonalds to be seen.
The family run reastarants are well priced and of good quality.
One in particular took great joy the first year we ordered a meal for my daughter. untill then we had only asked for an empty plate as the portions where so big she just had a bit off ours.
my 2 eldest have now left home and we no longer travel in the large numbers we did. my children have traveled all over but still have the fondest holiday memories of the resort.I look forward to spending many more holidays at tis resort

I have defended this campsite in the...

Sep 2008, Mr K Grain

I have defended this campsite in the past against comments from people who seemed to think they were too sophisticated to enjoy a holiday in the Costa Brava, but now I am starting to see their point. If you've been before, the campsite still has stunning views and is in a beautiful setting with mature gardens full of olive trees and pines and the main pool is still great, but scratch the surface and you will see that the rot has set in.
It’s true that at busy times of the year, British teenagers can be a little boisterous, but on the whole, British campers are generally quite polite and undemanding on holiday, and are just grateful if the sun shines. So when people accuse the staff of being rude and unhelpful, rather than blaming the campers, the site management could look at its own attitudes to its customers, because they certainly show a complete disregard for customer service.
My own example was nothing really, but just made me question whether the site tries hard enough to keep people happy. I ordered a meal for my wife, my daughter and myself at the snack bar near the bottom pool. We knew not to expect much and normally eat in town, but we were too tired after a busy day. One dish was served stone cold in the middle so I returned it and (to teach us a lesson?) it was microwaved to the point of being a liquid. On returning it a second time, after being told it was perfectly eatable (for a dog, maybe) we gave up and asked for a refund. But no, this was not possible because we had no receipt - which I think the staff had already taken when they cleaned our table or when we first complained. I'm not sure where they imagined we might have bought a foaming dish of hot liquid which was once an enchilada other than at their campsite, especially as the chef had brought it to our table 2 minutes earlier. Even the hotel manager couldn’t give us a refund without a receipt.
On complaining to the haughty reception manageress (Dutch?) the next day, I found I would have got more joy negotiating with a dalek. So we packed our tent up and left, never to return.

Aug 2008, Mrs D NOLAN

Our second year to this brilliant campsite - It is perfect for teenagers with grassed areas around the pool, which is great for sunbathing and gathering of friends. There is plenty of room which prevents problems with space to sunbathe. There are brilliant leisure activites to keep all ages occupied from mini golf to tennis and pool. The mobile homes with lifestyle are kept very clean and they are spacious. The campsite is very secure and safe with security guards helping look after the safety and wellbeing of everyone on the site. The teenagers are kept entertained day and night and afterwards the security guards ensure that they are quiet and well behaved. In the two great years we have been, we have enjoyed it and will be booking again for next summer.

Excellent. I travelled in a party of 2 adults, two 16 year old girls, boys aged 13 and 10 and my youngest daughter aged 2.
I can quite honestly say this holiday was perfect for each age group. My eldest daughter and her friend had the holiday of a life time as they were allowed a bit of freedom, but were contained within the campsite, which was supervised to a very high standard. There were games and entertainment during the day and evening, and shows between 10 and midnight. Accommodation in a mobile home is exactly as it looks in the pictures, a little small - but there was so much to do we spent little time inside, plus there are table chairs, loungers etc outside your mobile for eating and relaxing.
The kids made friends with others from the start, and the adults had a very relaxing time.
I travel abroad every year, and this is the first time I have come home wanting to book next years holiday back to the same place.

ive been to this holiday park every year since i was 9 and now im 17. i have enjoyed it just as much each year as i did the first time. the site is good for all ages. its a family resort and the kids have their clubs and the teens have their nightclubs. my fave pool of the 3 is la bassa up in the mountains where they have the yummiest cocktails! there's loads of food options, places and the town is great (5min walk as is the beach)! theres the jocs theme park across the road for young kids also with great entertainment at the restaurant in the eve's and around august there's usually a circus each year near the go kart track. going again this year and can't wait! :)

Jan 2008, Miss K  Adams

I have been to this holiday parc about 5 times; I have taken my 2 children down with me and have never had a problem with them. The mobile home was very clean, dust free and everything in perfect working order. There is plenty to do for all ages and lots of fun: you can swim for however long you like. You can do excursions organised by the park or with your holiday team. Entertainment is all day, lots to do for children and even adults.
I would recommend this park to anyone of all ages, it is a fantastic place to go.

Dec 2007, Mr A Marshall

Overall the campsite is great, large but very well run.
We booked with Keycamp and regret having done so. We arrived late in the evening to find our three bedroom caravan was in a disgusting state.
Sacks of rubbish, cobwebs, filthy floors, dirty fridge/freezer on which neither door closed properly and despite complaints a complete lack of interest and any action by the Keycamp staff.
The final straw upon returning was a lack of enthusiasm in actually dealing with our complaint. We took a number of photographs to illustrate the conditions.

Went with my wife and three children on two occasions 2007 & 2005, site is second to none for safety, cleanliness, service and entertainment (day and night). Brilliant for families loads to do, there are plenty of life guards and security staff.
Esartit town itself (20 min walkaway) is excellent friendly pubs and restaurants loads of nice places to eat and drink. The only thing about the site which might be a problem is it's a bit hilly so it`s sometimes a bit sore on the legs. Definitely going back again.

This was an amazing holiday for...

Jul 2007, Miss L.E Main

This was an amazing holiday for teenagers. On the campsite there were 2 movies shown every night. There were 3 large pools (one of which had flumes).
The most amazing views could be seen from the Panorama pool (named so probably because of the panoramic views). There was entertainment every single night at both of the 2 main entertainment facilities, only a 5 minute walk from each other. There is a disco held every night for younger children, then entertainment for all ages and at half 10 a club opens (underground to prevent noise escaping) for the over 16s.
They are very strict about people being over 16 in order to get in: there’s no sneaking in for any under ages! I was ill for the entire holiday! The pool turned my swimming clothes and any whites an orangey colour. In every single toilet facility on the site there was no soap!!
That probably explains why I was ill for the entire holiday! If you are looking to lose weight then this is the holiday for you, as it is such a big campsite, everything is a walk away. You can walk to the town of Estartit down a dirt track which only takes 10 minutes.
There is a brilliant night life in Estartit until the very early hours (after the nightclub finishes in the camp site). Prices are great in the camps supermarket. Food is great and there is a huge choice. Internet access in the bar but there are only 3 computers so there can be some waiting. Only 2 Euros 60 for 30 minutes.

Sep 2006, Mrs A Lerner

This was an amazing holiday. I took four teenage girls with me and they had fun each day and night. A week was not long enough. The caravan was clean and had everything we needed. The reps were very helpful. The nightlife was great and the older girls loved the nightclub. The younger two found many other teenagers to hang out with. I enjoyed the free cinema. The pools were beautiful and very safe with plenty of life guards. There is a cheap Lidl's supermarket 15mins walk away. The beach is a bit of a trek - 20mins but worth it when you get there as are the local shops. A very pretty town and a lovely campsite - the mountains are glorious. I would definitely recommend it and we will be returning en masse next year!
