La Croix Du Vieux Pont Holiday Park reviews

Great relaxing holiday
8 / 10
May 2012, June K

We visited this site in May 2011 and found it to have everything we needed to keep my son happy. The reps were helpful and were great with the kids. We've booked again for next month and we're looking forward to another relaxing holiday.

Sep 2011, Cosy

Just returned from La Croix du Vieux Pont's, spent Aug Bank Holiday week there until 4th Sept, we as grandparents made the booking for 2 the static homes both 3 bed, for 6 adults and 5 children, our own children and partners were agreeable to this weeks break.
Never done this type of holiday before and a spur of the moment “last minute” booking in mid August, the rates were ridiculously low and the Dover Calais ferry crossing was inclusive, it worked out at 230 pounds per “home” Sunday to Sunday”
The actual site was not so busy as things were apparently winding down, we had terrific weather thankfully but mercy me the one day it did rain the site was a muddy mess.
With relatively young children the swimming pool was our primary venue on the camp, just as well because there was little else to do for the youngsters after the shabby playgrounds and bouncy castle had been exhausted. (In fairness the playgrounds has obviously taken a battering over the summer months)
Our “camp reps” were rarely about, we really had no need of them but others were quit despondent about the lack of interests shown by the reps when seeking assistance there appeared to be only 2 of them and the arduous summer had taken its toll on them as well.
The static homes were just about acceptable but no great effort in cleaning them for new arrivals had been made. I saw a family vacate a “van” at 10 o’clock in the morning and the next family entered 4 hours later, the “rep” spent less than 10 minutes in the empty “van” armed with no more than an air freshener and a damp cloth.
Regarding the other facilities, I think other reviewers have covered these areas sufficiently enough although I would add that the onsite store was expensive and a trip to the local supermarket was worth the effort as well as an adventure for the kids, but if that’s what it takes to keep youngsters amused then so be it.
For what we paid then I have little to moan about considering the tariff's we have seen since, it’s certainly not worth that money.
I doubt I (we) will consider returning to La Croix du Vieux Pont's because it was only moderate to poor.

Yet another fantastic holiday at Berny. Busy sorting out next year. The drive is easy from Calais and recommended if you are a novice driving in France. Stayed this year with Keycamp in the Prestige. This is the best caravan Keycamp offer with a TV and DVD player however I would actually recommend staying in the 3 bedroomed Villagrand Deluxe. We are 2 adults and 2 girls age 8 and 5 and the Prestige, even though it is the biggest caravan, we seemed to be overcrowed as it only has 2 bedrooms and we generally have 3 bedrooms and use one for storage. The kids club was fantasic and our girls loved going, sometimes even twice a day which gave me and my husband some lovely time together. The site is beautiful, large and peaceful with loads to do. After going to the supermarche in the town, our car did not move. One downside is the restaurant service. This needs to improve. Waiters are very impatient. Pool area brilliant as there is a very shallow one (indoors) which was great for the little ones but also the slides were entertaining for the older ones. One thing I would suggest when in the pool changing area is some sort of flip flop for walking in. The floor gets quite dirty. Site so good my husband and I are considering buying a caravan there.

I have just returned from a family holiday here with my partner and 2 children aged 12 and 5. We booked an excellence caravan through Siblu and were thoroughally impressed with every aspect of the park and accomodation.
We arrived to a spotless caravan and very very friendly Siblu staff who could not do enough for you.
The park is well maintained and not a drop of litter in sight. The man made beach is excellent and my 2 children spend most of the holiday playing on the beach and swimming in the lake. The lifeguard who was on duty was one of the most attentive lifeguards I have ever come across. There is so much to do on park with table tennis tables all over the place and kids play areas which are all spotless.
The only thing that let the holiday down for us was the restaurant as the food was mass produced and you could tell it was not cooked to order and had been sitting about for a long time. The rest of the evenings we used the takeaway and what a difference as this was ALL made to order and yes you had to wait a while but it was worth it as the food was fresh and delicious.
We had such a great time that we are booking again for next year but for longer this time!!

I have just returned from La Croix du Vieux Pont with my 2 children had a wonderfull time as always. I have been going to this site since 2000 with In2camping/Fleur Holidays based in Blackpool Telephone No. 01253 593333. We stayed in a Super Celebration Caravan which I would recommend to anyone who likes home comforts. (they even supply proper quilts not blankets). The Campsite has everything on it suitable from the very young to the old. The swimming pools are ideal for the kids especially the water slides which my 11 year old was on from when the pool opened till it shut, then it was off to the bar to play pool.
The on site bakery is the best french bread I have hasd in France (baked on site). I even tried out the Beauty Salon (thought I deserved a bit of pampering) Oh bliss cant wait to go back soon

As a family group of 2 adults and 2 girls (10 and 13) we had a lovely week in a 3 bedroomed mobile home in early September. The pictures I've seen on-line don't do the site justice - when you walk around most of it if feels so tranquil and private, you notice that what looks like concrete (in pictures) around the pool area is actually some kind of stone, complete with fossils and shells still in it. They have extended the site in the last couple of years, so the "new" area is much more open than the old, and the pitches less private, however, there is still plenty of space.
The on-site Bar overlooks the outdoor pools (one normal, one shallow) and you can also see through the glass housing to the indoor ones - Standard one which becomes deep, very shallow childrens one with water features, jacuzzi, twisty chute and bumppy slides (these both have their own landing splash pools so dont interfere with swimmers). The indoor pools have sliding roofs to make the most of the sunny weather (if you are luckier than us and get some!).
There's a fishing lake, one with a "beach" with snack and drinks bar, and another shared between fishermen and boats.
Our 10 year old initially had to be encouraged to attend the kids club, but after the first session we couldn't keep her away (thanks!). Other activities such as canoes, pedalos, trampolines, bouncy castle and electric mini-cars were 2e a go (30 mins on the boats, 10 mins on the other things) but you can purchase pre-paid cards that give you bonus go's (from 10e with 4e free, to 40e with 40e free I think). Bike Hire seemed reasonable for a single go, but I guess could add up quickly if you have a family of keen bikers! (3e50 for an hour, 8e for a half day).
The takeaway served burgers, fish (&) chips, pizzas, salad bowls, ice-creams, roast chickens and drinks - bottles of wine 6e if you'd run out and the shop was closed! We thought these were reasonable prices - equivalent to a UK highstreet burger bar.
The bakery and shop had enough provisions that you could manage without going off-site if necessary (and wine for 2e :o), but there was a larger supermarket nearby - just a 5 minute walk from the site entrance if you took a shortcut through the nearby housing estate. We followed the recommendations to try chez michelline, great! Good (basic) food, great value, very friendly service. We went 3 times in a week :o)
The on-site bar was reasonably priced and family friendly, with a few events during the week - we struck lucky on the bingo and won 5 prizes to the dismay of the regular bingo players!).
There is an area of the campsite for people with their own caravans/tents which at first appearance looks like the private garden of a manor house, but really is part of the campsite. This was really beautiful (although was a bit further from facilities).
The site arranges coach trips to Disney and Paris (once a week each when we were there) although we drove ourselves to Disney - really simple and about 1 hour on a termtime tuesday. Disney was mostly full of younger children so we were able to go on all the fast rides without queuing so didn't need to return for a 2nd visit.
The only negative experience we had was in the on-site restaurant. Even though they were half empty, it still took a LONG time to be served, the portions were quite small for the cost and we had to return two of our dishes (lasagne) TWICE as they were cold in the middle. Although we were given free drinks as an apology, we'd have rather eaten our meal all at the same time. Probably wouldn't go back to the restaurant, but would definitely return to the site and stick with the take-away and chez-michelline.
We only really went as a cheaper way to go to Disney, but had such a nice time, I'm planning to visit some other sites now - I hope they are as good!

We have stayed at this site 3 times so far, and are going again this year. It is very close to the main road in from Calais, the main road to Disney land, Asterix parc and the Train station.
The static caravans that we have stayed in so far has been the basic and had fridge, small freezer, gas hob/oven, shower, toilet, double bed, bunk beds and 2 single beds.
The tour operator has their own reps on site who are young and helpful.
The swimming pools are great fun for the kids. We haven’t tried the restaurants or takeaways, as we always cook for ourselves.
In Soissons nearby there is a huge supermarket very similar to Asda and cheap. There are loads of shops. Most people speak English.
There is a shop about 1/2 mile from the site that stay open late, open all week and cater English foods that must be the favourites, which have helped us when we have left something behind, and we have taken 4 kids!!

We stayed in Berny in August 2006 for a very hot and sunny week.
Out Keycamp accommodation was slightly older than others we have previously stayed in, but none the less perfect for our requirements.
On site shops were fab especially the bakery for the lovely fresh French bread, and the restaurant was smashing - friendly with good value for money food.
The pools on site were clean and not at all busy for the time of year.
We couldn't fault the campsite at all, and the local village was fantastically typical France.
Loved it and can't wait to return.

Just returned from this site, staying in a mobile home with Eurocamp.
Stunning location, plenty for our 10 and 4 yr olds to do, even in low season. Including swimming pool, pedalos and canoes, trampolines, bouncy castle, games room, play parks, beach etc
Just over an hour away from Disneyland Resort Paris, the site also runs coach trips a few times a week.
Would recommend and we are returning next year :) Touring caravans also welcome.

This site is ideal for a family as it’s close to Paris and Disneyland and the site run coaches that take you there too.
The bar and restaurant is a friendly place to be and the reception is very helpful. There’s lots to do on site like mini go karts bouncy castle pedalos and rowing boats, fishing, and you must check out the local caves as well where you can see wild boar.
My top tip is to try a tiny family run restaurant called Chez Michelin about 5 minutes walk from the site, the food is divine and inexpensive especially 'poulet a la creme', you wouldn’t think much to look at the place as its a tobacconist/shop/bar/restaurant/etc etc and is as a big as your local newsagent but do give it a chance!
Soissons and Compiengne are both relatively close towns but the little town of vic sur aisne has all you need anyway particularly the delicious boulangerie. The cakes are a must!

Myself and my two children were joined by my friend and his two kids for a week at Berny Riviere campsite. We stayed in one of the three bed roomed mobile homes and went just for the fishing for the kids.
The week was excellent. Supermarket close by, excellent bar and shop facilities. It is a very large park with many friendly people there from all over Europe. Kids made loads of friends and caught some really big carp to over 20lbs.
Great weather also topped it off in making that week a very successful holiday. 10/10
