i have just returned from a week at this caravan site in the south of france with my husband and 2 kids (2 & 4) i booked it independently and we actually flew into gerona in spain and hired a car as it was cheaper to do it that way and only just over a 1 hr drive (pretty straight forward with a google map and directions). we paid for most of the holiday in tesco vouchers through siblu so just had to pay for linen and towels and a maintainance charge (total £75). you can also choose your arrival day and stay for any amount of days as they dont have a change over day system which was great when choosing the cheapest flights!
upon arrival the staff at the main reception spoke english and were very helpful in directing us to our siblu rep. david is a great guy who is lovely and been at the site for 5 years so really knows tonnes about everything you might need to know.
the caravans are all brand new this year so are immaculate inside. the pitches are big enough to park your car and have a large patio table with 6 chairs and 2 sun beds and still plenty of room for the kids to play. david had thought about where to place us in the site and chose a quiet spot in a dead end so very safe for the little ones.
there are 2 new play areas which the kids loved, the pool area was amazing with a great kids pool and slides for older kids (or the kid in you) and an integral jacuzzi. the pools are heated but are still a little on the cold side at the mo but fine once you are in - im such a wuss! there is a life guard on duty but the pool snack and bar are shut with it being the beginning or the season i guess. we had the place to ourselves the first day but i can imagine it would be busy in the school hols. there are trees around too so you can find some shade if needed.
there is a site shop with fresh bread everyday and the bar/restaurant is friendly with satellite to if you miss it. the food is really nice and they do a takeaway menu which is cheaper and handy too.
the beach at la racou is a 5 min walk away (nice and clean and big) and argeles port is 10mins on a path away from traffic. if you carry on through the harbor for 15mins and out the other side there is a wide promenade up to argeles beach where there are lots of bars, restaurants and shops. there is also a mini fun fair and massive bouncy castle area which was great for our 2 but open just on the weekends at the mo.
we went to collioure on a boat (20min ride) which i would definitely recommend as it is so picturesque with the castle and narrow streets with shops and restaurants.
the weather was fab although quite windy but this was actually nice as it would have been too hot and its only may!
my only gripe with the accommodation is that you have to clean it at the end of your hol which kinda spoils your last night, but its to do with the arrive any day thing so you have the benefit of that instead. oh and don't forget a tea towel!
we had a lovely time here and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting a caravan kind of holiday

We deliberately chose the end of season in the hope that it would be quieter but still have some good weather. We got it just right.
Everything about the site was spot on. The pool, the shop, the bar/restaurant and the very friendly staff. The site is in easy reach of so many other attractions including Barcelona, Girona, Carcasson and Perpignan. The views of the Pyrenees are breathtaking.
In fact, there is so much to do that we have booked again for this year (2006) to deal with the unfinished business.

Very friendly resort with good...

Very friendly resort with good facilities and a superb restaurant. Easy walking to many restaurants and a good beach. In fact, you do not need your car as there is a bus from the campsite door into Argeles town on a regular basis. Went last year for 2 weeks and only used the car twice to stock up at the local supermarket.
The only down side is that Canvas have changed their mobile homes and all the windows open in the way which means you can't get any fresh air without the possibility of bashing your head on an open window if you get up in the middle of the night! Shame, the old mobile homes were much more user friendly!
However, the owners of the site are incredibly friendly and it feels like a second home. It is fairly quiet but they do have entertainment in the form of films and karaoke/bands a couple of times during the week and Argeles Port ((about 10 mins walk) is always buzzing.
