Great site and beautiful area. Crossing was excellent-we came overnight from Plymouth to Roscoff with no problems.
Camp site lovely except pitches are very close together with very little space for children to play around the caravans-not easy when you have 4 children! However the pool area was beautiful and if the weather had been better we would have made more use of it. We found all the surrounding beaches were very safe and clean.
The highlight of the holiday for our children was when the circus came to the site-however it is best to pre-book tickets as it was very busy.
Children’s clubs –fantastic, the couriers were helpful and polite at all times.
We will go again.

The holiday didn't start too brilliantly. Mainly due to the rain, which obviously couldn't be helped, but also due to the Keycamp staff who delivered to our caravan: -
1. 2 lots of bed linen which had to be sent back because the rain had got to them.
2. A high chair which was so dirty my husband had to rinse it down before our son could use it.
3. An all-terrain buggy which was still in its box, so my husband had to assemble it himself.
4. A travel cot which had to be dried off, as it had not arrived with any sort of waterproof cover.
It struck us that the majority of Keycamp staff seemed to be young university students out to earn a bit of pocket money. As such, they didn't seem to take an awful lot of pride in their jobs. Having said that, those we met were helpful and friendly.
The caravan was modern and clean to an acceptable standard and the kitchen was fairly well equipped, although if we go again, we'll get one with a microwave!
The camp site itself was excellent. Not somewhere you'd touch with a bargepole unless you have kids, but for a family with two 'little smashers', it was great!!!
The shop was well stocked, playpark, pool complex, zipwire, trampolines, archery, petting zoo, pony rides, crazy golf........phew! Some days we just didn't leave the camp site. There was so much to occupy the kids.
We would definitely go again, but next time we'd upgrade our accommodation and ask to be placed somewhere away from the main thoroughfare through the camp site...... noisy at night with people returning from the bars!

Together with two other families, children aged 11, 10, 9, 9, and 2 - we all had a great time here on the campsite for a week ( after having driven around the local town numerous times before arriving at 11 pm as the sign posts for the site were awful ! )
Having not camped at all before, we were very pleased with the tent accommodation - quite adequate for family of 4, and plenty of room outside ( or in ) for a table of 6 chairs and 2 sunloungers. The whole site and washing facilities were very clean and the shower / toilet areas were cleaned well daily. The staff too were all very helpful
Swimming pools : excellent
Pony riding : good fun ( but be prepared to lead your own horses )
Supermarket : very good but could be larger
Bike hire : didn't do it and wouldn't want to because the layout of the bendy lanes around the site were too dangerous and lots of kids were not cycling safely
Football pitch : available all day - good size goals
Tennis courts / outdoor squash wall : good sizes too
The Adventure Trail & Zip Wires : fabulous fun ( both activities ran daily in the woodland at the edge of the campsite, near to the lovely lake and very good price !!
The local town of Carnac ( 5 mins. In car, 30 mins by foot ) was beautiful with lovely beaches, with rock pools, lots of sand and coves for shade. It had an old centre with cobbled streets and traditional shops and then a busy centre full of good cafes / creperies and restaurants.

Third year visiting here. Previous 2 years have been fantastic, this time returned with 4 other families as have had excellent time previously.
However disappointed to find the managers have changed the security at night time. The new security had a disagrement with an 18 year old girl and the management fully supported this action as they have had a lot of problems with 'English teenagers' in the past.
If going with teenagers would not recommend the security guards antagonised the English and favoured the French.

I am not sure what site the other people went to but our experience of La Grande Metairie was very different, and we would not recommend it to people unless you like the idea of living in a commune for the duration of your holiday.
The pitch sizes are so small that you are living very close to your neighbours and you have no view from your caravan other than looking at other people.
They have certainly packed everyone in like sardines and there is absolutely no privacy whatsoever.
There were a lot of teenagers on site when we visited (end of July) who spent the evenings drinking alcohol near the children's playgrounds. This site is "Butlins abroad" and if that is what you like then you will be happy - it was not our cup of tea.
When the weather was not good we all ended up being squashed into the small indoor swimming pool. To be fair, the outside pool is really very good but there are not enough sun beds!
On the plus side, the kids' club was very good and they had a BMX track which was of interest to my son of 11yrs. My daughter also loved the horses on site. The site was clean and well looked after.
The inside of our caravan was also clean and well presented.
We have stayed on several much better sites in France with Keycamp and will certainly not be returning to this one, primarily due to the tiny pitch sizes.

The site was very good, the mobile home we stayed in was clean spacious enough for 2 people, it terrace area was very large and the pitch was well kept.
The camp shop was slightly inflated in their pricing but still cheap compared to England, its opening times could have been longer, but I am guessing that this is seasonal.
The local Super U supermarket which is the closed supermarket is extremely cheap so worth stocking up at.
Carnac Plage is well worth the visit, when we stayed the weather was not at its best but the beach was still up to French standards.
Back to the campsite, there was little that I could complain about, we did not use the outside pool because it was too cold, but the pool area was well laid out and the petting zoo was a nice touch, everyone that I spoke too seemed to be enjoying their stay at the site, and I would recommend and return to this site.

Had a nice early season holiday here last year. Well presented and looked-after camp.
Nice bar - into which you can either surf the web at three internet cubicles, or you can bring your laptop in and access the bars wireless internet (scratch cards bought from the campsite reception).
Good for younger children - lots of animals in pens around the central area of the campsite, but not so good for older teenagers. They have a stable type outbuilding attached to the main bar with some pool tables and machines in, but it's not air conditioned, so gets unbearably hot.
There is a little swing park next to the bar for the younger ones, although they have used sharp sand for the base and it hurts to walk on it with bare feet.
I read a poster there that they were about to expand the water park (into the horses field), so that may be operational for summer 2007.
Finally, if you do go there, take a walk up to the main road where there is a viewing tower to see the spectacular arrays of standing stones.

The whole booking process with Kelair was a dream. Once we arrived onsite, the couriers were very professional and friendly and our accommodation although probably not one of their newer vans, was clean, spacious and contained everything we needed.
The campsite itself was lovely, with a couple of play areas, a lovely spacious animal area (and we are not zoo / petting farm people, especially not French ones) which our 18month old loved and a fabulous swimming complex.
The indoor pool and Jacuzzi proved invaluable as unfortunately we chose the wettest week in August to attend. The main pool complex was lovely although sometimes slightly short of sun beds and the best thinking for my husband was that they didn't insist on men wearing trunks (like at Sequoia Parc last year). They allowed me to go down the big water chutes with our little boy who loved it and demanded more and the staff were very approachable and friendly.
The shop provided the usual Vival merchandise but we did not try the restaurant. The bar as with all sites had slightly inflated prices. The big surprise of the holiday was the nearby E.Leclerc supermarket in Auray (a 10 minute drive away) which sold the most amazing moules frites we've tasted for a long time and for a paltry 5euros - bargain! The area was very pretty and we were assured that the nearby Parc Aventura was fantastic although our son was slightly small for the activities. I made do with the zip line on site which was fantastic - I just wished I'd tried it before the last day. All in all highly recommended.
P.S. Whilst we didn't need to use the wash blocks - they were gorgeous both inside and out!

Absolutely fantastic holiday park! Couldn't fault a thing. The whole complex is clean and well maintained, the pool area is great for all ages, on-site restaurant is basic but good quality and reasonably priced, caravans are clean and well presented, there is a good range of on-site entertainment and the facilities are excellent, particularly for children/young teenagers.
You could very easily spend a fortnight there, not leave the campsite and never struggle for anything to do!
We loved it so much we want to book to go back next year - something we have not done before. Highly recommended - a great all round family holiday experience.

This is a very large camp site located about 2 miles from the coast and about 1 mile from Carnac. My wife and I took our 3 children aged 10, 12 & 18 to this site. The toilet blocks were always kept very clean although the older toilet blocks are showing their age and need some attention. We preferred a longer stroll to the newer toilet blocks towards the south of the site. We had to accommodate a range of ages so we picked this site for its range of activities. You pay more for these; we paid about 900 euros for 14 nights for a pitch with electric.
We had a huge pitch as we had emailed the camp site to request a larger pitch as we have a 9 berth Vango Diablo tent. Alan Rogers gave this site a poor rating for pitch quality however we were very impressed with the pitch we were allocated.
Our children enjoyed the water park but unless you get there early in the morning there is no where to sit as all the sun loungers have been taken. We soon gave up with the on site pool for this reason and preferred to go to the local beaches which are superb.
There are a lot of teenagers on this site the majority behaved themselves but there was also a minority out to make a nuisance of themselves. We encountered some yobs that were clearly out to intimidate other smaller children and generally make life as unpleasant as possible for other people on the site.
We love camping in France and will probably pick a quieter more French site next year. I am not sure that I would recommend this camp site. The drunken teenagers and anti social behaviour by a group of thugs has put us off going back to la grande Metairie.

An excellent mobile home site. Covered by all the major operators but also you can book independently with the site itself.
Very clean and tidy all round. Excellent shower/washing facilities, good sized pitches and plenty to do.
The pools are superb although they could do with a few more loungers.
Kids clubroom and sports facilities are good, tennis, football, fishing, biking etc and the bar is quite lively with decent entertainment if you want it. Drink prices a little more expensive than UK but hey you’re on holiday!
Been twice and both my kids ( 15 and 10 ) love it as have other family members I have introduced to it. It’s a safe bet.

I only agreed to go on a mobile home holiday with our two young children (aged 4 and 1) because my husband had gone on similar holidays when he was a child and we had a fantastic time. We booked direct with the park only 4 days before we left and I think we had the smallest mobile home on the site but it was very clean, modern and had all the equipment we needed.
The pool area was amazing and, yes it could have done with some more sunbeds, but we just laid out on the ground. Both the children loved it. My four year old son also loved the children's disco.
We didn't have any problems with teenagers although there were plenty there but you can't fault the park for what English teenagers get up to.
The shop was small and expensive in comparison to local super/hypermarkets but that's to be expected - good in an emergency.
The restaurant was basic but the food was very nice and not pricey and you'll need to book if you want an outside table. The takeaway was good, mainly chips, pizza, burgers etc but convenient at the end of a busy day.
Anyway we're going back in 2008 and taking the In-Law's with us and this time we're staying in the biggest mobile home on the park that comes with a dishwasher!!! I can't wait.
