We stayed here for two weeks and were shocked at the nighttime going on's. Children and grown ups were messing around on the park until around 3.am with air guns fireworks and general shouting and screeming..
We stayed in a keycamap tent not good if you want some sleep before 3.am. we complaned several times about the noise and the manager agreed it was a very loud site, on one day alone they had recived about 50 complaints.
There is lots to do in the day with good swimming but no life gaurds. I would not recomend this park for children under ten years of age.
The market came on the tuesday to the site and we were again shocked at them selling knives around ten inches long and air guns to children without parents being around.
Keycamp could not do anything about the above because quote( security have to much to do with trying to police the disco were the more serious troble goes on).
People around our tent who have been to the site before could not belive the change. it was sad to see young uk people being so drunk it was like a uk city center after midnight where you go out at you own risk. Aug 2011

We have just returned from 2 weeks at this site. We booked with lifestyle holidays, and although we didn't know much about the company, it was perfectly fine. We stayed in a Sancerre Chalet which was small but fine for me, hubby and 2.5 year old. The rep helped us move the twin beds to make way for our travel cot. We had a gas bbq, which saved on charcoal, and a little verandah with table/chairs etc. There is no oven, but with 4 hob ring, microwave and bbq, we didn't mind. It was very clean. Although we did have to clean it ourselves before leaving, otherwise paying 40 euros for them to do it.
We took a laptop for our son to watch his favourite dvds on, which was a great help.
The park itself was amazing! It was huge, wonderful for 2 weeks, as you get to explore the lot slowly!
childrens playgrounds were excellent, the swimming pools were the highlight, managing to go into the indoor, and the outdoor because of the beautiful weather. The slides were good with no queuing! The football was on in the bar, but in addition the site ran quizzes and the odd party - I'm assuming due to the football, these all started rather late though, and I think they had very little response to the parties and karaokes, as they began at 10pm!
The staff were VERY friendly, as were the people on the site, and our little boy had a wonderful time running about and not getting into trouble! much!
The pedlos were alittle bit pricey, as were the golf range baskets etc, but with just us three, it was fine. I can imagine it would be pricey with 2 or 3 kids wanting to do things.
We also did the zip wire which was great value at 5 euros for a practice go, and two main gos.
We only used the pizzeria and the restaurant once - not great but worth a try - we were happy bbqing the rest of the time, and we ate out at Cancale for lunch (mussels are WONDERFUL here), and also the little restaurant at the end of the road from the site into dol de bretagne - WONDERFUL food!
The local towns are sweet, and the markets are nice to walk around.
The opportunity for running is good, I clocked up a few 5k's and a 6.5k around the little villages.
Mont st Michel is nearby, as is a great aquarium which we enjoyed.
We usually don't go to the same place twice, but I think we need to break this rule for next year.
Advised also for family groups if you can get adjacent chalets. They had a lot of people doing that, and it seemed like a great idea. We're inviting the parents next year!
We sailed from Poole to St Malo (condor), and returned Caen to Portsmouth. (brittany)
Preference - Condor Ferries, much nicer ship and better food options than Brittany.
Finally you can get an ORMIZZY bracelet, which you wear, and top up with cash - saves carrying cash around, and if you use it at the bar/restauratn etc you get 10% off each time. You can swim with the bracelet too.

A great site particularly for older children/teenagers. The weather was not brilliant, however, our children aged 10 and 14 found plenty to do. The treetop adventure park, zip line and paint balling were firm favourites. The children also founds lots of friends their age and enjoyed the nightly disco. All the activities cost extra, so budget for this. The prices range from 24 euros for the Adventure Park/Paint balling to 4/5 euros for a pedalo or the golf driving range. It is free to fish if you have you own rod. Also if you take your own pitch/putter the driving range and mini golf are cheaper.
For the adults their is golf, a golf driving range and mini/full golf course. There's loads of other activities such as horse riding and pedaloes.
Because it was quite cold at night there wasn't a lot of indoor space in the bars, however, St Leonard's is walkable and has a good bar, we were told.
The site is extremely easy to find from San Malo and takes around 30 minutes to reach. Dol de Bretagne is the nearby town with a good supermarket, restaurants and it is very pretty.
We also visited Mont St Michel, which although heaving with tourists, is breath-taking and certainly worth a visit.
If you take the fastcraft from Weymouth, be warned, check they don't stop at the Channel Islands, unless you want your journey to take 10 hours and not 4.5 hours. We found this out to our cost when our return journey meant driving 5 hours through the night when we arrived back in England-exhausting!!!!
We went with Keycamp who along with Eurocamp run clubs for kids and a soccer school which lots of families make use of.
We stayed in a 'Supernova' with Keycamp which has good cooking facilities, a fridge-freezer and British plugs, however, the accomodation was quite poor and old which I have told Keycamp. Especially not funny when woken on last morning to heavy rain coming through the ceiling onto my head!!!
Overall a very good site and worth going on the Chateau Des Ormes site if you don't require the Keycamp/Eurocamp facilities as their accomodation is really good and cheaper.
Our kids would go back tomorrow!!!

We went to this site in the back end of august 2007, not far from the port. Which is very handy when you have little ones. It's a really lovely site with plenty of activities. Although the weather was very poor at the time we where their the site was kept clean.
On the site there are two bars, plus a disco which I think opens from 10pm till 3pm. A spar shop which is open every day which is good for France, it sells papers, fresh bread, beer, wine, milk, ect. Also once a week there was a small market on the site. The takeaway sells pizza's which were really nice, chickens, hotdogs, recommend the omzzi card if you are going to use the takeaway as you get 10% off. There is a restaurant on the site which we never tried if think you had to book.
There are 3 outside pool. one of which is for children and toddlers this one did not seem to me as it was heated in any way it was really cold, but the was very poor although it was warm.
The other two pools are around the back of the shops and piano bar, these were very quite I don't think I seen any one in them the whole two weeks we were there. Also new in 2007 was the inside heated pool, with rapid river, baby pool, there was a bumby slide but this was not open, there is a big wave pool outside which is heated and lots of fun. if you have small children they can use armbands, but not swimming rings or seats... my little girl was only one when we went, and was not allowed her swim seat.
Other activities include hours / pony riding, pedelo’s, fishing, tree top walks, crazy golf, pitch and put. These are all charged for extra. Once a week there is a circus but it’s expensive to go in. A sort walk down a little track is a small village with a small shop, a pub, and restaurant. The food in the restaurant is very nice and not to expensive. Although if you go of a night time, don't wear your best heels and take a torch with you as it is very dark on the way back.

Overall a lovely site. Facilities excellent, pool complex superb, high wire course fantastic for the children (aged 10 & 9) however my wife has only just recovered now. Good range of entertainment and places to eat. Lovely golf course with even a driving range and pitch and putt for beginners. Kids clubs as always were great with friendly staff. One slight minus point is the notice that alcohol will be served to 16 year old and due to late disco there was occasionally some noise. Local area nice with a couple of good restaurants close by. Would return.

My husband and I together with our 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son spent two weeks at Les Ormes last June. We booked directly with the campsite and spent 3 nights in an Apartment followed by 7 nights in a Mobile Home.
The standard of accommodation was really good and we have to say the mobile home was far better in terms of value for money and enjoyment. The site itself is truly excellent and even for our young children there was plenty to keep them entertained.
The only fault we could find was that the pool was a little on the chilly side for small children but it certainly wasn't so bad that we couldn't use it. It’s also great for older children and even teenagers with a range of activities to suit all.
Even our daughter could go horse riding as they have small Shetland ponies on site so that was wonderful. I had spent holiday's there as a teenager with my parents and could not believe the changes that it has undergone. Les Ormes really has so much to offer and the setting could not be more perfect.
We enjoyed it so much that we will shortly be booking our 2007 holiday there!

I have previously visited Chateau des Ormes twice and I have been very impressed. This was my third time going and I wasn’t disappointed.
We usually stay with other companies, however after last years disaster of an unclean caravan we opted for a different company which turned out a lot cheaper and better.
This was the first time we stayed with French Freedom and I was very impressed. The price of my holiday worked out cheaper than other competitors and the booking process was pain free.
Our mobile home was situated in a nice area and we had decking which was nice to sit out on in an evening with a fine bottle of red wine!
Having visited other campsites, I must say des Ormes is one of the best. There are many facilities available, with my infant enjoying the pool area and my eldest enjoying the tree top adventure park.
There is a great range of activities for younger and older children, ranging from crazy golf to horse riding.
The site overall is clean and well looked after. I would highly recommend des ormes, as it’s a cracking park for both adults and children, with activities to keep the children entertained.
