Friends of ours recommended the holiday park La Carabasse. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed. Our mobile home was very clean and everything that we needed was there for us.
We had our two children with us. They were aged 10 and 9. They went to the childrens club and they really enjoyed themselves. Every night there was entertainment until 12.00 every night. The kids were welcome and they and ourselves had a brilliant time.
There was so much to do during the day and the night. The staff were very friendly and the reps for the kids clubs put on a show everynight which was spectacular.
I would recommend this park to everyone as a warm friendly and safe place to bring your children on holiday.

This was my first holiday with the in-laws, and their first break abroad for many years, so my wife and I were understandably anxious on arrival - but seven days later we didn't want to leave!
The weather was incredible, accommodation was superb (a terrace and air con are recommended) and the parc atmosphere was just right. We went in June which meant there was always space round the pool and the atmosphere was relaxed.
The old town of Vias is typically French, very pretty with a small market you should go and see. We spent a day in Montpellier, which is a city I absolutely love, and even did a cooking course at a local cooking school. This was great fun, a chance for me to practice my French!
This park is great, the region is great, the south of France is great. Highly recommended!
- Activities: There are a couple of small restaurant in Vias Old Town which are must visits

I requested a quiet caravan upon booking as I suffer with migraines due to
excess noise. I was assured that this would be the case and even upon arrival I checked this before unpacking our luggage. Again I was assured that we were in a quiet location. Upon locating our caravan we were really pleased - clean and roomy - it even had two toilets. Air con worked well and there was lots of storage. We were right next to the pool! Great... until the evening entertainment kicked in. The noise lasted till 1130pm. I went to reception the next day and was told that they had no record of the quiet room request, but the entertainment was only till the end of the week when it then moved to the Atoll club at the front of the site. This could have spoilt our holiday, but did not. My three year old adored the pool. The pool was well maintained, pool lifeguards were very friendly and there were nice swings etc on the site. No baby swings though, so bear this in mind. The Bubbles Club was good and was twice a day so was a good contingency if the weather was bad, which it was for a couple of days at the end of our hoilday. This was a free holiday for us using our Clubcard vouchers, but if I had paid for it I would have not been happy about the noise.

Very disappointed and annoyed.
Weather was beautiful, pool was great. Very busy, but I expected that as peak season.
Sunbeds were scarce, unless you wanted to pay for them - I assumed that they are part of your holiday??
No sun shades/umbrellas around the pool, just one large tent structure, where all the 'sun avoiders' sheltered, crammed together like sardines.
Earlier this year I booked two caravans, I requested close proximity - we couldn't have been further apart - a 15 minute walk! I chose the best accommodation - an excellence caravan 'like the one in the brochure' - terrace, canopy, table and chairs, double doors, gas barbeque, etc etc. The caravan we were given had no 'safe terrace' for the children to play on -wooden slats laid on uneven grass! No canopy (as shown in the brochure) a single sun umbrella thrown in a cupboard. A single narrow door way, one shower room, a dirty old charcoal barbeque that needed cleaning, no separate dining table and chairs and finally no gas when we arrived, so cold water until 10 o'clock the first evening!
When I complained to Reception, they said it was the luck of the draw and all the caravans were different, that they were fully booked and couldn't move us - they offered us some money back. I just wanted the holiday I booked!
Bookers beware! You don't always get what they show in the brochure!

We had a fabulous holiday at La Carabasse. The site was really pretty and clean. The staff were excellent and their attention around the pool area was the best I have seen - we have been on several holidays on various campsites and none have matched the attentiveness and pleasantness of the staff at Carabasse.
The beach was a 15 minute walk from the site and is really worth a visit. The site shop was excellent but it would be worth it to pay a visit to the supermarket in the town - it may be slightly cheaper. The clubs for the kids are great if you have young kids but the soccer on site provided a great sense of belonging for our 2 boys. Our eldest daughter had no intention of going to the TCo club (for teenagers) - too cool for it - but by the end of the 2 weeks she was on stage performing and that really isn't her.
We enjoyed this holiday so much we will be back again in 2008.

This year was the first time that we decided as a family that we would drive through France to the South. We had a great journey with a stop over & arrived very relaxed at our destination of Vias Plage. We found that the caravan site was not on the beach as I was previously told by a rep of Siblu but approx 15mins walk. That was fine, the beaches are beautiful & very clean.
The caravans however are all very much on top of each other. The entertainment (if you could call it that) went on every night until 12am. You might say that this is ok, & I would normally; but the noise you could probably hear back in England. To actually get any peace we had to go off site into the beach area, so not great for families with very young children.
The weather wasn't great but thats unfortunate, though perhaps if Siblu could have warmed up the pool it wouldn't have been so bad. According to one of the reps they may install a pump to heat the water next year!
Apart from the appalling entertainment, noise, freezing pool, the worst thing was to find that there is no Bureau d'Change in the immediate area so if you haven't changed your money back home your going to pay through the nose. Siblu changed sterling to euro at a rate of 1.36 some might say that isn't too bad then they take 6% so a bit of daylight robbery going on I think. The prices for meals were either on par with England or more expensive as was mostly everything else. Our last fews days we stayed in Paris where we got a rate of 1.45 & NO COMMISSION. My advise is, change your money at home it's a lot easier.
France is absolutely beautiful to drive through & I think everyone should at least do it once, most of the French were very nice & accommodating & we had no trouble on the roads. All in all not a bad holiday but definately a hotel for our next one!

I found the reception staff at the site extremely unhelpful and quite rude, even the site manager didn't have the manners to come out speak to us even when we had arranged a time for him to do so. The other Siblu staff on the site were really friendly and helpful though.
We travelled to La Carabasse with another family having booked identical mobile homes (3 bed excellence) and paying exactly the same money, our only request made for the pitches to be as near to one another as possible.
So you can imagine our disappoint to find that our mobile home and pitch position(CP55) was nothing like the size of our friends we felt like the van was squashed into the corner, also the noise from the neighbouring camp-sites children section of the pool (just a conifer hedge dividing them from our pitch) was annoying as it was really noisy so you could never sit outside the van for a bit of peace and quiet.
The mobile home was new and modern but the living area was so small that all my party of 5 (2 adults 3 teenagers) couldn't all sit down together as the settee was too small and the room to manoeuvre was very limited.
When we went to reception to query the huge difference in the vans and pitch size and the fact that we were no where near each other which was only request at the time of booking, we were told and I quote "that was as near as they could possibly get us together and that I that the excellence vans come graded a bit like a fiesta car and that our friends had the ghia of the range and we had the 1.1 and we just had to hope that the sun kept shining so we wouldn't need to be in our van very much."
The evening entertainment was ok but I felt that other than the dreaded amusements the older teenagers really didn't have anything else to do, as the disco was just the same pre recorded music night after night. Our kids said the foam party was the highlight of the holiday.
The camp-site is very clean and the restaurants are quite good but serve a limited choice of dishes, the best food is at the bar on the beach, the beach also isn't as near as is made out in the brochure it is a good fifteen to twenty minutes walk away.
It does mention in the brochure about noise from the neighbouring camp-sites can be heard they just don't mention just how loud it is and that it goes on until the early hours of the morning.
My advise to anyone going to this site would be to be very clear and precise with your requests even to the pitch number you want if possible.

The camp-site is clean and tidy, some pitches including ours were very small with just enough room to park your car. Bedrooms were very cramped (we accommodated four adults, one teenager and one 10 year old) there was a lack of utensils i.e. knives, cooking utensils and shelf in oven. Shower, hot water and air conditioning were all excellent and caravan overall was clean and tidy.
We were disappointed with the entertainment, or should we say lack of it, both day and night, it was rubbish and sometimes non existent - they advertise a disco but we did not see or go to one. The on site shop was excellent and very well stocked. We were disappointed with the shops and restaurants in the local area but a short drive away we visited lovely restaurants at Agde and the beach at Cap De Agde was great.
Disappointed with the pool, it was freezing and there was a lack of FREE sun beds (lots you could hire) and a lack of sun shades - if you wanted to shade from the sun you could go under a pre-erected sun canopy which was not ideal - so we did not use the pool. Weather was not brilliant for the time of year but better than England it was overcast/rain for 4 out of our 12 days!! Don't think we will be going back, its a 12 hour drive from Dunkirk.

Nothing was open. The park was untidy. The pool is not heated and had to be drained due to leaks. Dogs running loose.
Good mobile home but not good overall.

I found that the resort was easily located and was amazingly clean and tidy.
All of the caravans looked well treated. We found that the swimming pool was suitable for the amount of families and also that the pool is kept clean and tidy with strict rules.
All of the people are friendly and caring for each other. We found that the resort was so good that we will be recommended it to anyone.
Great Holiday!

After driving for 15 hours, we arrived at la Carabasse. The reception was not friendly and we drove through the site looking for our erected tent pitch.
Although it was early in the season, it was very deserted. It was soulless with very little vegetation and a lack of care about the place. After driving around for a while, we found our tent.
It was slap bang next to a building used for building materials and there were breeze blocks, metal girders, and mesh etc lying around, including on our pitch. Just across from us were four or five large static caravans that looked as if they had just been dumped there, being at different angles and tilted on their ends.
There was no definition of the pitch and our eating area was part of the back of someone else's tent pitch with their gas bottles, bucket, and mops etc to look onto! We had been told that we could not have any bbq's due to high pollen count in the air.
I tried to put on a brave face as children's faces were looking a bit glum and we decided to go and have a drink. The pool was closed 'for lunch' and we ended up at the bar which is situated near to the entrance.
A high wall separated you from the main road into Vias Plage - hardly the most relaxing spot. Again, it was soulless with no particular attention to any detail or care. The drinks were very expensive.
We drove out of the site and we drove around the corner to the entrance of the most beautiful looking site. I asked reception if they had any places free. The reception were friendly and showed us a lovely static caravan in a part of their site called Bali. We had our own beautiful garden area, with grass and flowers.
The whole campsite was lush and well tended with details such as coloured flags, statues, and little lanterns in 'Bali' and animals, features and planting in 'Africa'. There was direct access onto the beach, lots of kids clubs and shows for them to participate in. And we had lots of bbqs!!
The other two families we were holidaying with, who arrived later in the day and a couple of days later also moved to our new site. It ended up costing us double but was worth it!!
I took lots of photos of our pitch and surroundings and sent them to Siblu. They refused to accept anything was wrong. I eventually got the £35 linen fee back as we had not used it.
The new campsite was called Le Ferrat and it is a Yelloh site. Eurocamp also have pitches there, although not as nice as the Yelloh pitches. Siblu - never again!!

We spent two weeks in La Carabasse. We enjoyed ourselves.
Pool and slides were brilliant. The home was clean and comfortable - we had the terrace and air con ( a little smaller than I expected) we were 6 and I do not know how 8 would cope. There was no TV in our home which surprisingly actually made for a better family holiday. The restaurant on site was a liitle more expensive than local ones. The local ones were good value and we didnt find a bad one while we were there. Familly of 6 (10,7,6,2)and average meal out was 85 euro. The beach is beautiful and we drove there about 4 times. Loads of places to visit from Vias. There are a few local supermarkets as the one on site is expensive. Also a couple of hypermarkets about 5 miles away. It got very busy after 8th July and the atmosphere changed in the place. Noise was a problem for some though not us.
I would recommend it.
